The consumer stated that H 2005 Chrysler Town & Country was making noise in the steering column. The consumer already had problems with 2004 Town & Country with the same issue. The consumer had to go through the arbitration process to declare 2004 Town & Country a lemon. Then, Chrysler had to buy back the van. The consumer then purchased the 2005 vehicle. The manager went out of his way to guarantee that this van was better than the last one. The rack & pinion on the 2004 van failed. The 2005 van had the same defect. The 2005 van was considerable new with less than 7,000 miles. This problem was reported to the dealership. The dealership told the consumer that they would look at the van. The manager said that they were further along with this van since they had the problem with the last van. The consumer was angry at the dealership because of the run around they gave her about this issue. Consumer contacted the attorney general's office on the 2004 van, and they suggested the she contact NHTSA concerning the 2005 van. The consumer says that the van was currently less worth. Dealership will only give her $19,000 instead of the $30,000 that she paid for it. Consumer did not feel safe in this van. The dealership service department told the consumer that Chrysler was having major problems with rack & pinion steering.
