Headlights fail to come on, or turn off while driving. It may take several attempts to get the headlights on by turning the switch on and off several times. The lights have gone off several times while driving creating a great safety hazard. If you pull the high beam switch the high beams do come on and stay on as long as the switch is held back.

While driving at night, my headlights went out, very scary and glad I wasn't on a curve or bridge. I played with the switch until the lights came back on. This happened about 3 or more times within 10 minutes, luckily I was close to home. I had the headlights checked out at a garage and they couldn't find anything wrong, since the lights do work at times and you can't predict when the failure will happen. I believe the problem is in the switch. I don't want to waste my money fixing something I believe is a defect that Chrysler should take care of. My garage suggested I check to see if there may be a recall. This has been happening for almost 4 months now so I don't drive the van at night. This is dangerous.

The switch that operates the turn signals, the wiper/washer, and the high/low beams fails as such: When signaling left at times the right indicator comes on, and visa versa. When operating the wiper "on" switch, nothing happens until you signal or use the high/low beam part of the switch. When trying to lower my headlight beams the switch will at times fail to lower them until a separate action happens with the switch. All of these failures are sporadic, and will appear apparently when there is moisture in the air through rain or fog. (when you would not want them to happen at all). These are safety recalls I am asking for because the dealership, even though we have an extended warranty says they cannot do anything unless they see it happen. Most of this happens after hours or when the dealership is not open. I have had the vehicle to the dealership on three separate times. A recall would cause them to be obligated to do the repair. After researching this problem on the web have found many 2006 Town and country minivan owners have experienced the same issue. Please issue a recall on these. I am sure other years are affected because that switch is widely used.

The headlights on my vehicle would not come on. I had to turn the switch on and off to get them to come on. Then they went off when I was pulling out of the parking lot. This happened the same way another time. I took it to the dealership and contacted Chrysler. The dealer said they could not do anything because it did not happen for them. Chrysler said to work with the dealership. Last night - 11/11. I turned on my lights - after a short delay they came on. While driving on the express way they went off and I wiggled the switch and they came on. This happened again. Then, the third time the wiggling did not work. I was in complete darkness and going 55 mph. I bumped the switch and they came on. Others have said to just pull the high beam lever towards you to get lights enough to pull over. I will do that next time. This is a very frightening and unsafe condition.

Vehicle head lights do not turn on; after starting vehicle we switched on the headlights and nothing happened. Sometimes we turned the vehicle off and started it again and they would magically come on. Sometimes we flipped the headlight switch a dozen times and they magically come on. The condition would not happen when we would take it in for service. The high beams would work if we pulled the lever towards the drivers seat. There were many times we would be out after dark, go to leave and have no headlights and the lights would work when we took it in for service. We were finally able to get it in this past summer when the lights were not working; the headlights began shutting off while we were driving the vehicle so were able to get in when the condition existed. The mechanic said the bottom of the fuse box was corroded (a common problem with this model he told us) and a lot of the wires running into the fuse box were corroded and the box needed to be replaced along with some wiring harness. After replacing the fuse box and some of the harness. The headlights still did not work for the mechanic. He then replaced the switch and headlights began working. The headlight problem is a common problem we are told. We have paid almost $800 for this 'fix' that has plagued this vehicle for years and were able to finally diagnose 'after' the warranty has expired, while risking our lives. The frustration of trying to get somewhere with the lights shutting off, while driving; or going somewhere not to have head lights turn on; having to drive with high beams was/is unsafe to our family and other drivers.

I have experienced inconsistent performance of turn signals and windshield wipers. Upon activating the turn signal to indicate a left or right turn the turn signal will at times activate for the opposite direction or not activate at all. It will also activate intermittently - it will activate properly then suddenly turn off or switch directions and then switch back to the proper direction. I have had similar problems with the windshield wipers - they will suddenly turn off and then with out any change in controls resume wiping. I have not been in a situation where this has caused an accident but I could imagine such circumstances.

Headlights have failed to turn on many times over the last 3 years. It took several attempts at switching them on, to make the lights work. Van was brought to the dealership, but the problem could never be replicated for them. Now the headlights not only fail to turn on most of the time, without several attempts, but have started turning off and on while driving. This has happened even while driving at night. The latest incident was tonight, when they first wouldn't turn on, then once on, repeatedly turned on and off, also dimming and growing brighter.

We are having problems with our multifunction switch wiper high beams. We noticed this a couple of days ago when we turn the turning signal on to go right it was saying we where trying to turn left. This happened on a busy intersection and we almost got hit. Now its been doing it more and more.when my wife was driving the mini van she was turning left on a busy street. She turned the turnsignal on to turn left but it was showing right she almost got hit by another vehicle. It scared my three children and my wife.

Internal and external turn signals intermittently blink the opposite of what is expected. When turning on the left signal the signals occasionally blink right and visa versa. This malfunction may occur two or three times in a row and then it will work correctly for a day or week or more. It is unpredictable. This can be very dangerous as trailing or oncoming drivers respond to the incorrect signals. The local Chrysler service people are not able to work on this problem if it isn't occurring when they work on the vehicle.

Left rear tail light caught fire when turning on turn signal. We used fire extinguisher to control the fire. Wynnewood fire department and police arrived to the scene after it. Insurance company informed as well as Chrysler. Fortunately it happened close to our home. Fire was near the gas tank.
