2008 Town and country van. Rear brakes pads and rotors replaced at 12,000 miles. Left rear caliper froze shortly after, smoking and very hot. Fire hazard. Front brake pads replaced at 14,000 miles. Brakes have major issues, undersized for this vehicle" reports online indicate they need replacing as soon as every 10,000 miles. No longer think that my wife was the problem. Can someone force Chrysler into recalling this vehicle and replacing with larger braking system? must an entire family with kids perish? now wheel bearings are noisy - many online reports - related to brakes"

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Town and country. While driving downhill at an unknown speed and depressing the brakes, the vehicle began to shake and vibrate excessively. The contact stated there were several repairs made to the brakes previously including a replacement of the front brake pads and rotors in November 2009. The rear rotors were replaced May 2010 and the front rotors were replaced again in July 2010. The contact stated the failure would cease for a limited time before recurring. The manufacturer advised that the contact would be reimbursed for the repair costs but could not provide a permanent remedy to the failure. The failure mileage was 17,002 and the current mileage was 31,000.

2008 Chrysler Town and country. Consumer states problems with front and rear brakes the consumer stated the brakes have been replaced three times. The consumer stated there was a burning smell coming from the vehicle. The consumer immediately pulled over and discovered the front brakes were extremely hot and the rear brakes were smoking. The service manager indicated there was a problem with the brakes and they could not seem to fix them. Also, the air vent was not working properly, a fuse had to be replaced, as well as the starter. The driver side mirror had to be replaced, the handle on the sliding door was replaced, the driver side rear door did open properly and the bumper fell apart. My brake pads and rotors had to be replaced on my 2008 Chrysler Town and country van when I had barely 19000 miles on the vehicle. Brakes were tested as fine during a safety inspection in January, and suddenly 3 months later they had worn down to metal to metal contact which then also ruined the rotors. No accident resulted from this, however, I see through research on the internet that this seems to be a trend for this make/model of car.

I own 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van and last week when I took my van for regular oil change to the dealer(gurnee Dodge), the technician told me that I have to replace my front brake pads and rotors as they are worn out at only 15,000 miles. I have never had to replace brake pads and rotors at such a low mileage on any vehicle I have owned. I have been driving for 20 years, have owned many vehicles and am not driving any differently than I have driven in the past. The dealer did not give me the vehicle as he said it is a safety issue and I was forced or tricked into changing my pads for $300 (parts and labor) and they said they could resurface the rotor instead of replacing it after seeing my frustration. Later I came to know that there a tsb issued on 2008 Chrysler and Dodge vehicles tsb# 05-006-08 issued Dec.8th. 2008 regarding the brake pads and rotors and I called the dealer and told him about this, he says he has never heard about this and not ready to honor this tsb.

I have already filed a complaint with reference to the recurring brake problem on this vehicle (complaint #10300223). This week the brakes are again making noises and vibrating specially in the highway. This will be the third time we experience it, they already repaired, replaced and rebuilt the front and rear brakes twice. I am concern about the safety of my family. At this point, I want to recur to the California lemon law but Chrysler is not helping me. I beg you help me with this issue please. I do all the required maintenance at the Chrysler dealership. We also experience a steering fluid hose failure, "not under warranty" at the same time, cost $250. Also we needed to replace the rubber cover for the parking brake so your foot don't slip, they said they don't sale that part, we had to buy the whole parking brake lever, another $200. This is an abuse to the consumer. [xxx]

I leased a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country in Feb. 2008. Today is March 26, 2010. I have roughly 26,000 miles on the vehicle and have taken it to several mechanic, including Chrysler service shop at local dealership, and the consensus is that all rotors and brake pads must be replaced, none can be turned/machined/lathed, and nothing is covered under warranty, even though there is a 36,000, 3 year bumper-to-bumper warranty still in effect. The rotors and brake pads put on this vehicle at assembly were sub-par. Chrysler has received thousands of complaints regarding this problem from 2008 T&C owners and refuses to cover the rotor replacement or repair and rountinely puts the blame on the owner.

My 2008 Chrysler Town & Country limited suddenly made a grinding noise at 12,200 miles. There was no break squealing/notification, and without warning the brakes were metal to metal. The van needed front brake pads and rotors replaced. I called the dealership and was told that these vehicles don't go very long without needing brakes and that the pads on this van do not squeal. I asked how I was supposed to know that I would need new brakes at such low mileage if they don't squeal, and the dealer said that I would have known if I had my tires rotated every 6K miles. I had him check my history and it was less than 6K since last rotation so he told me to complain to Chrysler. I did, they opened a case and told me to take the van to the dealer. The dealer inspected the van and told me that it needed front brake pads and both rotors replaced and that because of the condition of the brakes, it was not safe for me to drive and they could not let me leave in that condition. They reported this back to the case manager at Chrysler. After 4 days and numerous phone calls from both the service manager and myself, Chrysler agreed to do a "one-time goodwill" repair for me, and I was to asked to pay $50.

Bought a 2008 Chrysler Town and country with 12,000 miles on it within 2 weeks of owning had to take back to dealer to have new pads on the front and rotors turned front and rear. At 16,000 miles front and rear pads and rear rotors were replaced and front rotors resurfaced again which put them below specs and at 20,000 miles front rotors were replaced due to dealer error in machining the rotors below specs and replaced front pads. Brakes have a very loud squeal that is ear piercing and not normal but I was told by a 3rd dealer that this is a common issue that I just have to live with due to poor design on brakes of these vehicles. Very unhappy with my purchase. I have only had the vehicle for 1 1/2 years and only put 9,000 miles on it so far and I am not interested in replacing brakes to line the pockets of a struggling vehicle manufacturer by purchasing their parts. Aftermarket pads and rotors are more expensive than oem because the model is newer and because they sell so many.

My 2008 T&C minivan was in for service, but no known brake problem was present. The technician noted that the brake pads were "90 % worn". they recommended that they replace the pads & rotors. The mileage on the vehicle was 24,689. My issue is that seems very premature.

Leasing a 2008 Chrysler Town and country minivan. With 17800 miles heard a noise from rear of vehicle. Took to Chrysler dealer and said rear brakes were down to metal. Had to have both rotors and pads replaced. They warrantied the rotors but paid for labor and pads. They also recommended that I replace front at my own cost about $400. I didn't have the fronts replaced. I have driven new and used cars and never have had to replace brakes at that low mileage. Most of the time it would be the front brakes first then the rear. The service manager said that they have had alot of problems with this model. Some customers have had to replace brakes at 10,000 miles. This something that NHTSA should look into.

Also at 30K miles, the front pads had 40% left, but the front rotors where damaged beyond repair. Replaced front rotors and front/rear pads at an expense of $500. Mechanic and Chrysler customer service reps (two csrs so far) acknowledge this is a repeating and known issue. No recalls or resolution from Chrysler to date.

1. took my 2008 Chrysler Town & Country in to service squeaky brakes. The mechanic showed me that the pads were between 95 and 100% gone. The rotors were grooved beyond repair. He said they were having a lot of trouble with T&C's having faulty calipers, which in turn caused the brakes to wear out prematurely. 2. mechanic's write-up said "verified customer complaint and found the rear brake calipers to be seized and not working properly. Replaced calipers and everything is ok." The warranty only covers the calipers. My van has 30,000 miles when this came to our attention, and the brakes are worn well beyond a safe amount. The mechanic has seen multiple identical problems. 3. calipers were replaced under warranty, new rotors and pads installed at a cost to the owner of $500.

Unacceptable brake wear. Front pads needed replacing at 17,000 miles. I have owned 6 Chrysler mini vans starting at 1985. I have always got 35K to 50K on front pads and more on the rears. Irate and will take action if Chrysler, daimler or Fiat does not react.
