Power door lock on passenger sliding door of my 2005 Dodge Caravan has failed in the locked position, so I cannot open the door. This has been an intermittent problem for several months, but completely failed two weeks ago.

The electronic door locks on 2005 Dodge Caravan quit working about a year ago. Dodge says there is no recall and they can replace the part for $350 - $375. There are many many people with the same 2005 model Caravan with the same problem. I can remove a 20amp fuse for 20 seconds and it will reboot the system and it work again for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. I paid for an electronic door lock and it should work. My family to avoid someone jumping into the car at a stop sign or stop light must manually lock the doors that we paid to have done electronically. There is a malfunctioning part and it needs to be recalled and replaced.

The power door locks on 2005 Dodge Caravan do not work. Have tried resetting computer, on many occasions, with no help from dealer. Computer reset is only a temporary fix at best. This presents a serious theft issue and a child safety issue. Many similar complaints have been found on the internet, but no recall has been issued.

After raining and freezing overnight, I got into my 2005 Dodge Caravan to go to work. I attempted to move down the drivers side window with the power window down switch. The window was frozen in place. After trying to get the window down 3 or 4 more times. I gave up and went onto work. When I came out from work to go home the window was completely down. I tried to use the power window up button and it would not raise. Took it to a Dodge dealer and they replaced the entire window raising/lowering mechanism at a cost of over $400. Sent complaint to Chrysler and they did not even write me back. Do not try to lower a window in a Dodge Caravan as the mechanish is weak, mis-designed and flimsy.

While using the remote to lock the doors the horn beeped indicating doors were locked but the doors never lock. This has happened 5 times with no set pattern or method to make it happen again. Found that removing a fuse from under the hood and re-installing seems to reset the system allow proper locking operation. Pulling this fuse also resets the radio presets but since the warranty expired this seems like a little inconvenience for the cost to fix a problem that happens randomly.

Power door locks stopped working about 2 months ago. I read on the internet how to fix it, most suggestions were to replace the fuse. We have cleaned and replaced the fuse several times, but the door locks still go out erratically. This is a major issue because I have a very bad back and it is impossible for me to reach/lean across or to crawl to the back to lock the door manually. There are so many complaints about this issue. Why hasn't Dodge or the government taken care of this problem. How many complaints does there have to be in order to have something recalled?

Hi I already have a complaint in your system the # is 10332386. The problem is the doors will not open or lock when I press the remote. This has been going on since May. It stopped and came back again since the date of my first complaint. It has happen at least 5 times including today that I am having the same problem. The plugs from the battery have to be removed and put on again and then it works. I have no clue how long this process will work before I have to either invest in a new sensor to solve the problem. I was hoping you could help me find out if I am covered for this either in a recall or warranty. It started with my car mileage at 49,000 and now I'm up to 52,000 and it's still happening. Can you please let me know if the dealer will tell you some thing different as you are the NHTSA? I'm sure they will tell us the customer any thing to get us in to spend over $500 to get it fix. When it may really be a fault of the dealer or maybe the warranty will cover it. The Dodge Caravan is a 2005 and it runs really well so far thank god. 2005 Dodge Caravan electric locks stop working. Pull ido fuse wait 10sec reinstall, locks work again for weeks or days then you have to repeat procedure. Chrysler has some kind of fix where they flash an eprom with some updated code (not a physical defect but a programming error) then they charge the car owner! Chrysler knows about this problem and has done nothing proactive to address the issue. This is a very unsafe condition. When this happens you will not be aware that the doors have not locked and especially if you have children this could lead to an injury or a fatality. This is not an isolated problem you have only to search the internet to find possibly hundreds of frustrated and angry Caravan owners.

When tryin to unlock my power locks they would not work. I then tried the remote key lock/unlock. This also did not work. To exit the vehicle I had to manually unlock the doors. I found the 20 a fuse for the door locks and removed it, replaced it, then the power locks worked for just a couple days. I have to repeat this process every week to get my power locks to work properly.

2005 Dodge Caravan SXT. Power door locks stopped working. In checking the internet for solution I found this is a big problem with this vehicle and can be a safety issue. I was able to fix by removing and replacing the fuse. But according to most folks experiences the problem returns and the quick fixes no longer work. Only the driver door has a key lock on this vehicle.

About a year ago, in fall of 2009, I had my first 2005 Dodge Caravan power lock failure. None of the locks locked either with the key button, or by turning the key in the driver's door. About 10 months ago I started removing the fuse to reset the lock mechanism. This worked for about a month, then a few weeks, then a few days, and now it will not even work correctly for a day after resetting the fuse. All door locks must now be manually locked and unlocked.
