  • 80,000 miles
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 20 mph, the doors would not lock automatically. When using the key to manually open the doors, the security alarm would engage. When locking the doors with the keyless entry remote, the alarm system would set but the doors would not lock. The dealer attempted a memory re-flash and corrected the failure for two days. In addition, the dealer stated that the body control module may need to be replaced. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 99,800.

Power door locks on my 2005 Dodge Caravan have quit working. There is only one door that has a key hole to use a key in. I have to unlock the driver's door, then reach over and unlock the other doors. This has been going on for over a year now. I can't afford to trade my vehicle in or I would. I have seen numerous complaints about the same problem on countless websites. Dodge needs to be do something to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the sensor for the door locks did not function properly and doors would suddenly lock on their own. The contact had to unlock the doors manually. When the failure occurred and someone approached the vehicle, the panic alarm would begin to sound. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that repairs would have to be performed at her expense. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The current mileage was approximately 49,500. Updated 11/19/10. The consumer stated the connection from the battery were removed several times. Finally, after three times the sensors started to work again. The consumer stated there have been no problems since. Updated 12/01/10

Power locks stop working both by remote keychain and on doors, requiring doors to be manually locked and unlocked, and leaving the rear hatch door unlockable manually and occupants and property vulnerable. This has been an ongoing problem for about 2 years now, and only corrects when the 20 amp fuse is pulled and reinserted. This "correction" is progressively lasting less time, and has probably occurred 3 dozen times over the past 2 years. "corrections" last less than a day now, and with 2 young children in my car, this is a safety issue.

The door locks on my 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT are going on and off without activating the button. In my opinion this is a safety item that needs to be addressed. Along with other people complaining about the same thing this should be a recall on this vehicle.

We own a 2005 Dodge Caravan and the power locks have stopped working, which to me is a real safety concern having two small children. After looking around on the web there are several people having this problem. I was also informed that it is an issue with the computer and they have a patch program and they want to charge $130 for this repair, not a problem except that if several people are having this problem and it is a software problem then Dodge should fix it. Thank you for listening.

Driver side door does not open or shut completely. It only opens 6 to 8 inches and closes until about 6 to 8 inches. The latching mechanism sometime does not work at all or repeatedly tries to auto latch itself. This occurs every time we try to use the auto door feature. It appears that some wires have been severed, but the cost to repair at dealership is outrageous. I am afraid that the door will not properly close, leading to injury or death of my passengers. You can view many websites that have lots of people complaining about his exact same thing: autoforum.classifieds1000.com/Dodge-grand_caravan/2005_dodge_gc_sliding_door_problem.

Power door locks stopped working. I was told by the Dodge dealer it would cost $76 to diagnose the problem. He said it is common and would either be the switch or fuse.

Automatic door locks quit working. I have to detach battery for a little while and re hook up to reset locks then they seem to work only for a varying amount of time. I then have to do the same procedure over again. I'm not sure how long this will work so I will take it to the dealership.

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan I bought used from the dealer in 2005. In 2007 the driver side rear sliding door lock failed. I cannot lock the door with the auto lock system inside the van or on the key fob. I brought it to the dealer to look at and was told the door lock actuator failed. One year later the other rear sliding door lock failed. It is not covered under warranty. So I have been unable to fix the problem.

Automatic locks stop working on Dodge 2005 Caravan. After opening the hood and removing the fuse and reinserting it several times it starts to work. This happens every couple of days. It has happened to thousands of other drivers/owners. The company is aware of it but will do nothing to fix the problem.

The power lock system is failing almost on a weekly basis. The dealership states this is not a recall problem although from this site: autoforum.classifieds1000.com/Dodge-grand_caravan/power_locks_will_not_lock_or_unlock, and others this is a major problem taking place mostly after the vehicle is only a couple years old. I have to pull a 20 amp fuse and replace it for the locking mechanism to work again. The dealership is unaware of the problem and states that I must pay $100 to fix it, and if that doesn't fix it I am out of my money. I refuse to pay to have a problem fixed that is nearly as old as the vehicle itself. The locking mechanism problem described effects all the doors except the back lifting hatch door. The pulling of the fuse only "resets" the problem for approximately one week.

Been doing some research on the problem with my van, finding alot of people with the same problem. 2005 Dodge Caravan....the power locks stop working and is a pain to have to reach around to lock and unlock all the doors. Seems that if you pull the idm fuse for 30 seconds and then reinstall it, the locks work for a little while, then go out again.

I have a 05 Dodge Caravan. Power locks just quit. Looked on website and saw that this is a common problem with this vehicle. There were suggestions of a quick fix but not a permanent one. If this is a common problem seems that there should be a recall to fix it.

My wife, 2 young children, and I went out to spend the afternoon running errands. When we left our home, the door locks worked with the keyless entry system as well as with the switches inside the car. After making our second stop of the afternoon, my wife noticed that the door locks were no longer functioning. They failed to work via key chain, switch, or speedometer override (when car reaches 20 mph). Compounding the issue, the Caravan only has one outside door lock, which means the car can only be manually unlocked at the driver side door. The remaining doors must be unlocked from the inside. This means that someone must climb throughout the vehicle's interior to let other passengers in. As I mentioned earlier, I have 2 small children and it is extremely frustrating, not to mention dangerous, to have to leave them standing beside the car while my wife or I climb about the interior to unlock the passenger doors so as to gain access to their car seats.

I own a 05 Dodge Caravan. And the automatic locks have stopped working. I was told I would need to get updated software from the dealer in order to fix the issue. This is a manufactured defect and should be recalled by Dodge.
