My 2006 Dodge Charger rt V8 5.7 keep stalling after I put gas in and shut off while I'm driving and when I pull over and it start right back up I'm really concerned about my safety because it done that multiple times on my way to work and after work

I had my car 14 years (bought new in 2006)kept up with maintenance, oil changed ect.. my cars has close to 167,000. While driving to local gas station parked my car went got what I needed. And my car wouldn't crank over and I heard a knocking noise each time the engine tried to turn over. My car was well taking care of why would my engine fail been reading and it appears these type of car been having this issue for years. Please investigate. I'm carless now

1-fuel system after filling up will choke itself out at slow speeds or idling-2-engine cuts out going 40-80 mph jerks and cuts off and back on sometimes engine light comes on and other times not 3- issues with turning car completely off have to put back into gear then park again to turn off 4- at times when putting into park my brake light comes on. I thought I did good on this car but now I'm beginning to think I'm in over my head all of this happens on average every other day. One or all things happen intermediate.

Traveling I-5 at 65 mph when the car lost all power. No response in gas pedal, engine stuttered. Pulled off freeway and put it in park and turned the car off. Waited for around 10 -20 seconds then restarted the vehicle. Then all power and driveability came back. This is the 5th time this has happened for this car and becoming more frequently. Took the vehicle in to have it put on a diagnosis. Code is P0016. Crank shaft position, cam shaft position correlation/bank 1 sensor a. also code P0128. Thermostat rationality test.

Car stalls and steering wheel locks up and oil light comes on. Only happens after I put any gas in the car I do not fill it! I was crossing a intersection and my car died the steering wheel locked up completely and the oil light started flashing. I had to roll to the side of the road!!!!!!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while traveling at 80 mph, the engine stalled while the ABS and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that intermittently when starting the vehicle, the gear shifter would become difficult to shift out of the park position. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that the brakes were defective. Upon investigation, the contact linked NHTSA campaign number: 06V149000 (service brakes, hydraulic) with the failure. The contact also took the vehicle to champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (563 N grand ave, nogales, AZ 85621) where they diagnosed the vehicle with a faulty brake light switch; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failures and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was unknown.

Car stalls after fill up. Pull into traffic and you lose steering breaks ect. Need to put in park to restart. Will continue and miss and stall for about 5 miles. Once you run some fuel out of the car it runs exceptional until the next fill up.

The first time my motor failed I was driving on the freeway 70mph and someone cut me off I hit the brakes good enough to barely avoid them crashing into me, when I tried to push the throttle immediately after the motor started jumping back and forth like it wanted to jump out of the engine bay, took it to Dodge and they said two of my cylinders were only running at half the compression meaning I had a valve issue like these cars are well known to have now. Well $5,000 later I got my car back from Dodge with one head replaced, just about 60K miles later the other head failed on me and traveled into my other head destroying that one and my pistons, just spent $9,000 to have the motor replaced and not even a 1,000 miles later I'm having the same issue. This is unacceptable I still owe money on the car and I've spent upwards of $14,000 to keep this car running. It's left me with no way to get me to work it's left me stranded I've lost a job because I couldn't be there I've missed out on opportunities in life because of this car I'm 23 years old and this has been going on 4 years now. I make minimum wage work 50hrs a week this car has taken a years worth of salary from me and made my life so stressful I can not stress this enough, this has made my life very difficult in these past 4 years... the car is currently down because cylinder #2 only has about 90psi and I don't know why to do anymore... I have no car I walk or take the bus to work everyday I can not do this much longer..

I took my 06 Charger in for airbag recall and when I left the dealer my car shut off at every lights and shut off in the middle of going 40 50 miles an hour. It continues to do that more and more everyday. I've read on the internet about so many of the 6th generation Dodge Chrysler products doing this exact same thing. I can understand why a problem that causes you to stall out in the middle of a busy intersection is not addressed. First it start telling me that it was electronic throttle control problem, then it's now telling me that is a problem between the throttle control module and the ECM. This happened exactly one minute after I left the dealer getting my airbags recalled. It stalls at when stationary, when moving, in the middle of the street, and every couple minutes. I know I am not alone with this problem but I don't understand why nothing is being addressed.

I have 2 problems. First while driving all my warning lights will flash on then go right off. Another problem I have is my car will turn over and sometimes start but die immediately. Once I get it started it will go fine for a while before doing it again. By the looks of my research both problems are pretty common in 2006 Chargers.

Car will run fine one day next day it won't, car cuts off when stopping an stop sign or light. Car jerks when pressing gas pedal too hard, gas odors coming from muffler.

PCM shuts down briefly without warning at seemingly random times, although this seems to be more common when accelerating from stationary such as at a stoplight. Sometimes the outrage is extremely short and there is a ding from the instrument cluster, sometimes it is longer with one or more warning lights illuminate briefly including the electronic throttle, and sometimes the cel will illuminate. Outage never seems to last more than a fraction of a second. If the cel comes on the code is U0100 lost comm. W/PCM. If speed is above about 15 mph the engine doesn't actually stop, there's just a big jolt, as if they hey had been turned off and then rapidly back on. At slower speeds the engine stops and must be restarted with the key. This has resulted in near accidents when pulling into traffic and suddenly stopping. Dealer had the car for a week, at first couldn't duplicate but when it did happen they couldn't diagnose. They reprogrammed the tcm and changed the transmission fluid and filter (which were due anyway) and replaced the battery for lack of any better ideas. This problem can go a week or two without happening or happen 10 times in 3 days. I added a recording voltmeter to monitor key voltages in and out of the PCM (measured and recorded approximately 20 times per second) and this showed the first sign of trouble is the auto shutdown relay control voltage out of the PCM going to zero while the battery voltage and keyswitch 'run' voltages both remained high(~14.2 volts). I replaced the PCM with a refurbished one (could not locate a new replacement) and the problem was not observed for two months, but then resumed. Multiple similar reports on the internet, mostly related to filling the gas tank but my problem has no correlation to refueling or fuel level.

Turning onto on-ramp of a highway I was moving about 20 miles an hour when the engine died and I lost power steering. Additionally, I felt a very tough transmission shift 2-3 seconds before I lost power steering and when the engine died. The car took multiple attempts to turn over. A very loud whirring noise began in the engine/transmission area and is yet to stop.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for additional diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My 2006 Dodge Charger has developed a stalling issue every time I fill with gas. I have tried different things as far as not filling to the top or not topping it off with gas. I filled with gas along an interstate and when I was trying to get on the interstate it quit on me down the off ramp when I was to merge with traffic. Was able to get car to the side of the interstate and re-start but died again. Started again and then it ran with no issues. Now it has issues every time it is gassed up. I filled up yesterday and same thing died out at a stop sign trying to get on the highway. I have heard this is a big issue with these cars and I'm surprised that there hasn't been anything done to Dodge to fix this issue. I've heard it could cost up to $1,500 to fix. I like the car but it is a safety issue to drive it. Please help! thanks
