I was driving on the highway when the ABS and traction control indicator came on. I also noticed a burning smell so I turned off the ac and noticed the radio power was off so I tried powering it back on but to no avail. The smell continued and the vehicle seemed to slow down and the speedometer hand began to go crazy flipping back and forth so I pulled over to the nearest exit and turned the vehicle off. I attempted to restart and nothing happened. The tow truck guy arrived and tried to boost it and it began to smoke. It still had no power. I'm highly disappointed considering I purchased the vehicle brand new. I thought by purchasing the model with hemi I was getting a better quality vehicle. Apparently not. Would never expect to be broke down on the side on the road in such fairly new vehicle. Also had to have the radiator replaced like a year prior. Then the passenger headlight also has some type of shortage which the dealer couldn't detect what the problem is and the bottom fog lamps no longer work. Seems to be several wiring issues on the front end. Dealer diagnosed my vehicle and I now need a new alternator, starter, and battery which will cost me $1300. Sucks because there is a recall for alternator but for now it only applies to the vehicles with 3.6L motor. Wanted to trade my vehicle for the new Dodge but now I've changed my mind!

In motion on busy highway, heard noises from engine, stereo suddenly turned off and ABS and stability control lights came on. Engine started smoking and could smell burning electrical then went into a stall. Battery saver mode indicator came on. Alternator is shot. Contacted Chrysler and was told that I was not covered (did a VIN check) under their current alternator recall/battery. Recall number is P60. I have owned the vehicle for 2 months and it only has 58K miles on it. Was a very dangerous situation. Have not performed the repairs yet but am ordering a new alternator and battery today.

Takara recall I was coming home from work and my car shut the radio off and slowly started shutting off other accessories to the car. I work 30 miles from my house. When I got home, the car would not shut off, would not go into park. And everything was going hay wire. I had to put the parking break on so I would move, because I couldn't get it to go into park. Thank goodness my window was down because I couldn't unlock the car. I had to crawl through the the back seat to pull the emergancy lever to open the trunk. After that I disconnected the battery.I soon found out the battery died and the alternator burnt up. I have replace the battery and the alternator and started the car. It runs but all the electronics are still inoperable.

My 2012 Dodge Charger SXT has approximately 81,000 miles. I have never had any problems with it, maintenance have always been done on time. I was pulling into a parking lot when I started hearing a noise from the hood. I turned off the car and restarted it, the noise was still there and became louder. Then smoke started coming out of the hood. I turned off the car and waited for the smoke to subside, which was about 40 minutes. Then I opened the hood and and the smell of burnt was very strong. The car would not start after that. We had it towed to our mechanic and he confirmed the alternator had caught fire. He could not fix anything because the electrical components in the car where acting up and he does not know the system. He advised us about the alternator recall P60 and so I called Chrysler and they were adamant that my car does not have any recalls for the alternator. However all symptoms of this recall P60 were present in my car. We took it to Firestone and they referred us to the dealer because they confirmed the computer was also damaged and they said that only the dealer could help with that. I called the dealer as well and they said, there is no warranty on the alternator, computer or any of the components the other mechanics have confirmed failed in the car. Chrysler will not acknowledge that the vehicle has the same alternator issue under recall P60 and now we are left with an extremely expensive repair, car rental. I would appreciate any assistance in getting Chrysler to take responsibility for selling a car with a defective alternator. My vehicle is relatively new and I was not counting on having to pay for such a hefty repair to a new car.

Dodge has known issues and recalls for alternators being defective in their 2012 Charger models but continues to make customers pay out of pocket to fix the issue. I purchased a 2012 Dodge Charger April 2012 cash. Recently my alternator stopped working on the car. I took the car to the nearest Dodge in my area to have test ran on the battery and alternator, the battery tested good but they would not test the alternator unless I paid a $100 fee which I could have done for free at the nearest parts dealer (autozone, O'riely's). I recently repaired my car out of pocket $300 with no assistance from Dodge, but before doing so I saw there has been over 450,000 recalls for the same issue of alternators prematurly going bad. I called 8008531403 and 8009921997 and spent over 2 hours on the phone without a resolution, the first rep advised the recall is VIN specific andnothing applies to my VIN, I tried to explain to the rep that this has been a known isssue for Dodge models made since 2010-2013 and my car was produced within that time frame. The rep advised me to take it in for a diagnostic and I could submit for a possible reimbursment if its determined its fault Dodge. I advised I was not comfortable with doing so if I cant be garaunteed I will be reimbursed, I then asked for a supervisor. The supervisor pamela (id PH314) was rude from the start of the call call and told me its not her concern if my car gets repaired. I love my car and have been considering purchasing my fiance a 2015-2016 model but after how I was treated I am strongly changing my mind.

I smelled smoke as I was pulling into a convenience store. I stopped the car beside a gas pump. At that time I saw smoke coming from under the hood. I popped the latch to look under the hood. I was trying to find the latch to open the hood and could not find it, so I looked under the unopened hood and saw a fire. I then got back into the car and moved it away from the fuel pumps and away from the building. I gathered up my phone and phone Charger, popped the trunk to see if there was anything I needed to get out. I then backed away from the vehicle at a safe distance and called 911. The police and the fire department came and put the fire out. The car is totaled. The interior is burned up, the 2 front tires are burned up, the wind shield and both front windows shattered, the engine is burned up and the front half of the cars paint has been burned up.

Driving to work when all of a sudden the message of "battery saver mode" appeared on my message screen. After that happened, I noticed a whistling noise followed by the radio going out and air conditioning stopped blowing. Then all of the sensors started going off in the dashboard; traction control, ABS, check engine, and seatbelt. I tried to give my Dodge Charger 2012 SXT some gas so that I can get off the road, but that cuased the RPM's to rev up to over 7 and other gauges did the same thing at the same time. Luckily I was able to coast into a gas station since that is where my Charger completely stopped!! nothing would turn on and car wasn't moving!! after calling for a tow truck, I looked up these errors for 2012 Dodge Chargers and there a lot of them!! the estimate to replace the alternator and battery was over $800!!! who has that money just laying around for rainy days"!?!" Dodge knows it has this problem as you can find the recalls for it, bit only if the VIN# matches. Otherwise you pay out of your own pocket. I am so infuriated right now!! I will never buy another Chrysler vehicle again!! my 2012 Charger only has 57,000 miles and the alternator goes!!! this is not right nor should it be accepted!!!

I received a recall post card in the mail stating the manufacturer had attempted to contact me previously to schedule an inspection soon as possible. I called on 6-16-15 and scheduled the appointment with holley holley as the service advisor. The scheduled appointment took place on 6/18/15. Once I received my car back from the dealership. Holley holley reasurred me that a multipoint inspection was done on my car and fluid levels were checked. I live an hour away from the dealership. On my way to work the following morning 6/19/15 when I arrived to work I noticed steam was coming out of the side of my drivers door once I opened it to get out. I had to call a mechanic immediately to try and get my car towed back to the dealership due to holly holley telling me over the phone to bring the car back in once I told her I didnt have this issue prior to bringing my car in for the inspection. Once the towing company arrived the driver popped my hood. The driver asked me to come look under my hood. The driver was able to show me that the radiator cap was never put back on my radiator when I had taken it to the dealership for the inspection on 6/18/15. Whomever tech:999176 is that worked on my car is. I would like the tec:999176 to know that this is a safety issue and my motor couldve blown up due to his careless mistakes of not doing his job. It took three hours to cool my car down. I hate doing any kind of business with roundtree Chrysler and I hate I ever purchased my car from this dealership. Ive had so many problems with roundtree and the car itself. If I could get a brand new Dodge Charger it would definitely suffice everything ive experienced with this dealership. I will not take my car back to this dealership for any services other than recalls that are pre-paid for. I will fill out the survey with scores of poor performance on every aspect of my experiences with a Dodge...updated 09/03/15 updated 10/01/15 updated 10/26/2017

A message appeared and indicated battery saver mode. I decided to go and get a picture of the message to show the dealership but when I turned the car on the ABS and traction control lights also turned on. The car was also making a screeching noise. I proceeded to drive around the block at which time a burning smell started. As I came around the block not faster than 5-10 mph the burning smell got stronger and the car started trembling and I couldn't turn it off or put it in park. The shifter would just slide up and down never parking. I couldn't take my foot off the break because it would keep moving almost wreaking into my husbands truck. Finally the car started trembling and other panel lights appeared and turned off.(transmission and engine light) finally the wipers came on for a few minutes. Prior to this I had already taken the car in twice for the ABS and traction control lights.
