The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The driver discovered that the transmission shifter had erroneously switched from the drive position into neutral. The contact indicated that the failure occurred on two separate occasions. Also, while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (frank fletcher Dodge, 5922 warden rd, sherwood, ar) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 99,000.

I love my car. I do not love having to dump a quart of oil in it every 1,000 miles. While driving my car it shut off. Everything shut off! I managed to get it restarted and make it back to my job but then had to have the car towed because it shut off again and wouldn't restart. At the time I had no clue about the oil issue as I bought my car brand new in 2014. It is costing me quite a bit to keep oil in it. The manufacturer flaw is that they used aluminum piston which burn through the oil. This needs to be fixed and a recall needs to be issued. This is dangerous and may end in death for some unsuspecting consumer. Also, after coming to a stop at a stop light or sign the car shifts out of drive as soon as you release the break and press on the gas. I have had this happen multiple times and have almost been hit as it will move slightly in to the intersection and then acts like it isn't going to go anywhere when it all of a sudden jumps back into drive. This is a major hazard and I am unsure why this issue and the other issues with the 2014 Dart are not being investigated and no recalls are being issued for this VIN #. obviously, there are many complaints about these issues. Since the issues can end in fatalities it should be looked at a lot closer than it is. These issues are continual, there isn't just one date for them.

It became more consistent in 2017, my car would stall driving it anywhere from 25 mph -75 mph, some days the steering wheel would lock and the car would turn off and I'd have to wait until it was ready to be back on, just recently multiple times I have had my car turn completely off going 75mph, the dashboard turns off the steering wheel locks and the car shuts off, some times it turns off for not even a minute before it turns back on. Other times I've put my car on cruise control and it's turned off minutes after being set. Was told to change the oil more often which I did at maximum of 3000 miles, on a 2014?! this time (its been several several times already) my car turned off and wouldn't turn back on, tried jump starting it for almost 3 hours and it did nothing to the car, the car didn't budge. The dashboard would flicker on and off and all the switches would go crazy including my windshield wipers that weren't event on in the first place. Used a car battery charger to see if it helped at all, 12 hours later still nothing. I have a two year old and this car is way to dangerous for me to feel safe in!!

As driving down the road after about a mile from home my car would no longer move but glide along. The engine was shut off and I had no control over speed. You can step on the gas and it will not move. RPM's drop and the motor turns off in drive. After this happens the car hesitates to start but will. There is no check engine light on and all statistics for the car were as they should be. The battery is showing correct voltage. The cause is unknown.

If I brake within 5 minutes of starting my vehicle, the next time I brake all of the dashboard lights will flash on, the battery light will stay on, and the car will stall. After waiting 5 to 10 minutes the car will start again. This happens within a week of when my car needs an oil change. This happened 10/24/2017, 10/25/2017, and 5/17/2018.

This is the third time this has happened. The engine will stall randomly while driving. The same issue happened again today. This has happened to a lot of people, but still no recalls. This is extremely dangerous. When the engine stalls, you loose power steering and brakes. This can cause a major accident. Luckily, it's only happened on low RPM. This issue needs to be looked into and fixed.

  • 59,700 miles
2014 Dodge Dart aero approx. 59700 miles, automatic transmission transmission will shift into neutral. Large clicking noise from left under hood. At times will loose gear, specific to first and reverse. Burning smell. Can reset, with a standard obdii but will not last long. This is not a recall VIN but this car is very unsafe to drive with its constant transmission shifting, loss of power and potential road hazard. There needs to be an immediate recall based on potential life threatening accident.

My vehicle unexpectedly loses power while driving as if it has shifted into neutral. This typically happens on city streets before I make it to the highway. It usually happens as I'm slowing down. My local dealership told me it was a battery problem in Sept. 2017 and I paid over $600 to haven them replace the battery, which resolved the issue until now. There is a recall R42 for this very issue, however it doesn't apply to my VIN number. The description of the recall fits exactly what I am experiencing.

Check engine light will flash while simultaneously the gear selections lights all glow red. Stability indicator signals loss as well as extremely rough shifting. Loss of reverse camera, moon roof, loss of auto windows both up and down, as well as practically all forward motion as if the transmission has suddenly stopped working. Once stopped safely and vehicle has been disabled I.T will not start without a series of steps prior to ignition. 1. press accessory button. 2. place in nuetral. 3. return to park. 4. open and close driver door. 5. apply foot to the brake pedal. 6. press ignition switch to start the vehicle. These steps allow the vehicle to become operational; however the check engine light will remain on for various lengths of time. The transmission now shifts less rough than during the initial malfunction. I have experienced this malfunction both while starting my car and during operation on the open road. At which point the vehicle becomes clearly unsafe to operate, due to loss of motion. I personally do not feel safe operating this vehicle alone and especially with my family aboard. I have researched this issue hours on end and found masses falling to the same vehicle malfunction. As of yet my specific VIN# has yet to be recalled regardless of the nature of the malfunctions. I charge you NHTSA to press upon Chrysler for safety of not only my family but all the others out in the world at risk due to faulty engineering and equipment.

The car loses power and shuts off. The oil has to be topped off every 60 to 90 days or the car will not run or will shut down while driving on the expressway. When the vehicle comes to a stop, it may may not start at all. Over the past year, I have had to have it towed 4 times. The last tow to the dealership cost over $500 for parts relative to the transmission.

The car will startle when shifting gears until one day it just stopped responding whenever I stepped on the accelerator. It will only drive no more than 5 miles an hour, making horrible noises and smelling burnt. I had to stop and pull to the side as I was driving.iit was so scary because I had my daughter with me and was in a high traffic street.

My vehicle has stopped on two occasions while I was driving it. This is very dangerous and is an obvious safety concern. When I pulled out the oil stick there was absolutely no oil. This happened the second time as well. I took it into the dealership and did an oil consumption test. The oil went down about half a quart in 1000 miles. They sent me away and said that this was acceptable.the engine only holds about four quarts this is ridiculous and I will never make it into my next oil change without the car shutting off. The car shuts off due to a safety reaction to stop the engine from being damaged due to low oil. I have not made it to my oil change since I have been refilling the oil. Dodge's guidelines say it is "acceptable" for the 2.4 engine to burn 1 quart every 750 miles. That is all the engine oil in the engine since it only holds 4 quarts every 3,000 miles. My oil change won't be due any time close to then. Please do something about this. There are countless complains and threads of citizens with this safety concern. I am worried of when the car will stop on me again.

"engine stalls out and completely dies". this has happened to me several times already with my six year old in the car. I haven't taken it to the dealership twice already and this will be the third final attempt for repair. I've brought a new battery even after it passed successful testing, and the alternator passed as well. The first time it stopped on me I was on the highway (had the car toll to the nearest autozone for a new battery) had the dealership look at it they stated they could not diagnose the problem since the vehicle was working and could not find anything wrong with the car, 2nd time it stopped two days later on the interstate had the car (this time I had it toll to the dealership) and they put in the work order what I stated did nothing to the engine and only completed the recall on the brakes. The third time it stopped on me while driving was on the highway Oct. 2017 had to get a jump and he kept stalling out before it completely stopped this time I contacted Dodge roadside assistance to toll me to the nearest dealership for documentation. I have open a case with Chrysler corporation and feel like I'm getting no where, and the dealership has not even bother to contact me. I'm going through all of this when the car is only 3 years old with 48,000 miles still covered under warranty. All the times I vehicle has stopped on me on dark roads, in traffic, on the instate my daughter has been in the car with me. This car is a danger to me, my, family, and anyone else on the road if I drive this car. For now it continues to be at the dealership while I drive the loaner car they gave me. But I'm still having to make car payments on a vehicle I'm not even driving.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Dart. While driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission erroneously switched to the neutral position before the vehicle shut off. After restarting the vehicle, the check engine indicator remained illuminated. The contact indicated that the failure occurred on multiple occasions. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (cowboys Chrysler in shelby, Texas) was notified of the failure, but the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 71,000.
