Car stalls, idles erratically and stalls when falls below 500 rpms. A/C blows hot air when idles falls below 1000 rpms. This has been happening for months, no rhyme or reason, no codes. Sometimes so bad that car stalls as soon as you let off of the accelerator to go around a curve. When will a recall be issued" there is obviously a problem. Dodge needs to step up to the plate. Does someone have to die before its fixed" do a search on the internet. Complaint are everywhere.

: the contact stated the vehicle stalls consistently, sometimes taking up to 4 hours to restart. According to a independent repair shop, the power control module has become defective and needs to be replaced. The stalling occurs 3 to 4 times a week in the summer. In the winter, it stalled twice a month.

: the contact stated that the engine malfunctioned in the vehicle as early as June first of 2005. The vehicle was taken to the dealers and left with them for one week to under-go diagnostic testing. The dealer determined through the testing that the problem was pertaining to the fuel pump and replaced the part. The vehicle began to experience more problems concerning stalling and all the warning lights illuminating. The vehicle was taken back to the dealers who replaced the water pump. One week later, the vehicle experienced similar problems including water dripping from the bottom of the motor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced gasket of the water pump. The vehicle stalled while driving on the highway during morning rush hour traveling at 30 mph. It was towed to the dealer who determined that the #3 cylinder had no compression, the coolant was coming out of the freeze plug, transmission fluid was dripping and the motor was shot. There were no further services done to the vehicle due to the extensive costs.

We recently purchased a 1999 Dodge Durango slt from a private party. This is a well maintained vehicle and has no history of problems. Within a few days of having this vehicle it began to stall for no apparent reason. This would be at 65 mph or stopped. If you wait 5-20 min it will restart. We have had this car looked at and have replaced the crank sensor to no avail. While doing an internet search it appears this is not a new problem and many other owners are experiencing it as well. The mechanics get no code from the stall and no one can pinpoint the problem. We are frustrated and pretty unhappy to find out this is a recurring problem with this vehicle. This is very dangerous as everything locks up when it stalls.

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango with 73,000 miles. We had the transmission replaced and other major repairs done to it last year. Since then it has given us nothing but trouble. This car is our family car so we travel everywhere with the kids in the back. It has stalled and died on us often. At times on the freeway in the middle of traffic and other times in the middle of intersections. The power steering goes and so do the brakes. I have been lucky so far in avoiding accidents. The mechanics can not find out what is wrong with it so nothing is done about it. The fuel lines have been checked and replaced and so has the fuel pump and the same problem continues.

The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Durango that experienced an excessive oil consumption problem. The oil was disappearing nearly every 500 miles. There was no smoking or any type of leaks. The contact felt this was a mechanical problem. The vehicle was using four or five quarts of oil rapidly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic shop for inspection. The mechanic replaced the intake manifold. The upper plenum and throttle body was removed to determine the leak site. The gasket that was supposed to seal the intake of the engine block had apparently not adhered to the bottom on the intake and along the engine. The mechanic noted that Chrysler made some design corrections, but the cylinder heads will collect and blow over into the engine, and eventually will be expelled from the vehicle on the ground or burned out. It could collect eight to ten quarts before expelling. The repair was made, and a gasket was replaced. This was the second time it was replaced. The gasket did not necessarily fix the problem because the gasket did not permanently adhered to that area. They retracted it due to hot and cold temperatures, and could not adhere as needed. The contact has another 1999 Dodge Durango that experienced this problem. Also, there was a pinhole on the air conditioner evaporator that allowed the freon to escape and enter in to other Durangos.

On July 31, 2005 the check engine light came on. She took vehicle to dealer and had it fixed. The next day the light was still on. Vehicle was taken back to the dealer. Currently, the check engine light, ABS light and a brake light were on. Vehicle had been to the dealer 4 times and still couldn't find the cause of the problem. Manufacturer had not been contacted. She has paid for all the trips to the dealer and they haven't fixed it yet. She could not afford to continue paying for all repairs.

It has happened 3 times today and has happened for the past 3 weeks, it appears to be getting worse. After putting the vehicle into park, the vehicle will sometimes start immediately, but sometimes the consumer would have to wait for about 10 minutes to restart it.

Started with rebuilt transmission, then sludged in motor. Had to replace motor with only 120,000 miles motor and transmission 5,000. Also had to replace ball joints, tie rods and bearings cost $1,000

Vehicle was purchased on August 21, 1999. The ball joints were same type as those on recall for year beginning 2000. Two years and four months later the ball joints failed. The front passenger side power window had broken along with the two back power windows. There was also a cracked serpentine belt, the tensioner had frozen, the throttle body was dirty and the gasket was leaking.

Lower ball joints on both sides of vehicle. The vehicle failed inspection due to worn front upper and lower ball joints. The consumer stated that he is having the same problem with his vehicle as the later year model listed in the recall. The vehicle as a result of the failed ball joints has uneven tire wear, brake problems, oil pressure problems, sludge build up, and speed sensor issues.

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango, brakes repaired. The vehicle overheated, radiator, air compressor and more problems. The consumer was told that the ball joints were gone and the transmission was sticking.

The consumer had to replace several tires due to worn upper and lower ball joints. The consumer experienced the same recall problem as the 1998-1999 models. The right front and left windows were inoperative, there was noises coming from the serpentine belt, the vehicle had taken too long to crank after sitting for a while and the intake manifold leaked oil.

Consumer was driving on the highway and suddenly engine's oil pressure meter dropped to zero. Then, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. She took vehicle to dealer to get serviced, but the engine light still came on. Also, mechanic determined that the vehicle had worn out upper and lower ball joints. Vehicle could not pass inspection due to the engine light.
