Rear taillights (referred to as racetrack lights) have already been replaced once for leaking and burning out. The replacement lighting is having the same problem, filling with rain water, and burning out the led lights

First issue is back racetrack lenses is full of water causing bulbs to blow out.secondly, and most scarey was driving at 50 mph and car starts making loud noises on dash(that alone scarey enough to create a crash)but the looses power and barely can steer vehicle to side of rt.27, then started back up.I am a single mom of 2 boys, (one which I rely on this vehicle to Transport to many doctor appointments.)last thing I need is a horrible accident.please listen to all these complaints as if it were your family and try to address the safety of your consumers.

The rear liftgate "race track" light assembly badly collects water. I'm not talking condensation either. After a day of steady rain it almost fills both sides of the light. After one car wash it has about an inch of water in it. It happens any day, any time of the year when ever it's raining. I have to remove the two bottom mounting screws to drain the water out. Most of the leds have gone out and I swear I have seen smoke coming from the light once or twice. New from the dealership the light is over $1,000 and I have the extended bumper to bumper warranty which I have found does not cover the replacement even though it is a very widespread issue all over the web. The dealership told me for some reason some peoples warranty covers it and most are rejected. I feel this is a major concern since water and electrical components usually dont get along. I'm wondering how many vehicals must catch fire first before a complaint recall is issued" or do a few people have to be killed first" I personally know four people who have the same issue. This needs to be taken care of for the safety of the driver and all who follow behind us. Please read a bit on any of the Durango forums, mopar forums, or even on your own database of complaints. I know there are hundreds on there because I read the forums and am putting in a complaint. The two pictures I'm attaching are from one car wash, just ten mintues of periodically having water run down the back of the car filled that much. Its unacceptable and you know it is.....so do something about it.

I purchased a 2014 Dodge Durango on Nov. 2017. I returned the car 2 days later because of the tail light had water in it and the part of it was not working. The dealer replaced the tail light. Shortly after that the rear camera and license plate lights were not working and water got in the tail light which caused it to flicker while driving. The tail light eventually stopped working. The dealer referred me to a Dodge dealer that eventually replaced the tail light in March of 2018. It is now February 2019 and part of the tail light stopped working due to water that seeped in the tail light. I've had the tail light replaced twice in less than 1 1/2 yrs of ownership and now the tail light needs to be replaced again.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the race track lighting on the rear of the vehicle retained water. As a result, the rear lights did not work properly. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to central avenue Chrysler Dodge Ram (1839 central park ave, yonkers, NY 10710, (866) 671-0682) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was built without a rubber seal over the lights. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to buy another light before they could repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was 137,000.

2014 Durango racetrack lights on the lift gate have water in them. The water has shorted out the leds on one side already. I am concerned this will lead to more leds shorting out creating a hazard for other drivers at night. Additionally, I am concerned for the overall safety of the vehicle as there may be some additional electrical system damage due to the water. This is a part that is not serviceable. I could not have done anything to prevent it. It is a manufacturer flaw. It is an exterior part and should be sealed to prevent moisture, much less water, from collecting inside of it. There is no damage to the part that is visible for water to enter. I fear the lack of leds operating will prevent the vehicle from passing state inspection. Dodge customer service and Dodge dealer state there is no coverage. The Dodge dealer quoted $1233 to replace the part. Vehicle has 90K miles. I noticed the problem when the vehicle was in my driveway. Leds not working was noticed 12/30/18

Takata recall: When I first bought my vehicle I noticed that there was water pooling inside the rear racetrack lighting in the bottom right corner. A portion of the racetrack lighting was going out due to the water. Luckily the dealership was willing to replace it for us and did (so they say). We've had the new one in for about a year and just recently noticed that there is water pooling across the entire lighting now. A bigger portion of the light is starting to go out on the right side again and I'm afraid that it will start to affect the rest of the components on the hatch. And I'm assuming it will soon go completely out.
