Had dealer complete recall # 99V216000 in early 2000, upon driving home and filling the fuel tank noticed large amount of fuel leaking under vehicle. Dealer towed vehilce back to dealership (their expense), and replaced "cracked" attaching nut from recall work. Drove home (70 miles) and discovered small quantity of fuel still leaking from tank fittings. Returned vehicle to dealer (my expense). Shop advised they tightened loose attaching nut from previous recall. Still noticed odor of fuel consistantly but could not see any leaks as previous. Due to concerns about fire safety (I'm the fire chief in homer) I took vehicle to local garage (my expense). They found this same attaching nut and fuel pump module assemble leaking and referred me back to the dealership. Returned vehicle to dealership on November 27, 2001 and picked it up on December 5 after they "replaced" sealing O-ring and attaching nut from previous recall (almost $100 of my expense). Filled fuel tank on Dec. 6 and discovered large quantity of fuel leaking from same area under vehicle. Reported problem to dealship and they advised to return vehicle to them for further repair, with them recommending and ordering replacement fuel tank. I suspect a combination of poor quality work and possible design flaws with the tank and fuel pump module assembly, nut and O-ring.

During a vehicle repair, non-dealer repair shop discovered leaking fuel injector rail and O-rings. Local dealership and manufacturer contacted but both stated there was no recall and refused to provide repairs at no cost. Your NHTSA campaign id number 00V268000 identifies a recall that is not being honored by the manufacturer or the local dealership. Fuel leakage is present currently. Dealer says owner must pay for repairs and may receive reimbursement at a later date. Complaint was given telephonically to DaimlerChrysler on June 15, 2000 and received confirmation of DaimlerChrysler's complaint reference number is 8765666. Dealer says no recall appears for this vehicle when search is by VIN number.

This fuel rail was recalled on the 3.5 engine in the Dodge Caravan but not on the 3.8 the fuel rail is the exact same part as was recalled on the 3.5 but was not recalled on the 3.8 I had top repalce the fuel rail on my 3.8 with the same part as was recalled on the 3.5 engine. I feel that Chrysler should be made to recall the fuel rail on the 3.8 engine just as it had to on the 3.5 wengine. I do not believe I should have to pay for this repair which was just under $325. It is unbeleivable that I should have to replace a bad part on the 3.8L engine with the exact same part as was recalled on the 3.5L: Engine. Please contact me about this.
