No event leading up to failure. Power locks stopped working except for the back.

The power door locks have failed. The van only has a key lock on the drivers door and with kids this is not only inconvenient, but it's not safe. After looking it up on the internet, pulling and replacing a fusing provided a temporary fix, but that will not work now. Apparently the only fix is having the dealer reload the memory. This seems to be a very common problem and should be addressed.

The power door locks, on my 2005 Dodge Caravan have quit working. I found out that it is a problem with the onboard computer and as yet Chrysler will do nothing about it. We have small grand children that could possibly open the doors while the van is moving, which makes it a danger factor. We have tried to fix the problem by pulling a fuse or disconnecting the battery cable but it only works for a short while and it happens again.

The power door locks cease to work. When the car reaches 20mph the doors do not lock. The problem can be remedied by pulling the fuse and then replacing, but that is a huge hassle. It happens every 3 weeks or so.

Regarding 2005 Dodge Caravan door lock problem the door locks quit working on this vehicle after 44,000 miles. In researching the problem, apparently many other people have the same problem with this vehicle. This is a safety hazard & the NHTSA should immediately require a recall for this problem before somebody gets killed. Apparently the nhtsb has previously been advised of this problem & done nothing to demand a recall. Why the delay"?"

The power locks do not work for the driver and all passenger doors. They will not work with either the remote or the interior lock switch or after driving the vehicle over the reset lock mph of 20. This issue started approximately June 2009 and continues. Disconnecting the battery and reconnected after several hours will get the locks to work again but only for the time being. The power locks may stop working again within a couple of hours or days. The dealer stated that a software update at approximately $90 but may not be a permanent fix. The safety issue here (a key hole is only provided on the driver's side door meaning people need to stand in the street or parking lots while driver opens his door and then climbs through the interior to pull up the buttons for others to enter as well as lock not locking when vehicle is in motion) a recall is needed to be issued for this power lock problem. This is a safety issue that the manufacturer obviously knows about.

Dodge Caravan power door locks fail to operate unless manually operated causing concern for safety of family due to unable to be absolute that the doors are secured at anytime. This safety concern has been noted by Chrysler and will fix at a cost to consumer. This being a problem with a large percentage of this vehicle I feel that it should be recalled voluntary, but Chrysler has failed to act.

Hello, I unfortunately own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Although I love the way the vehicle drives, I can't say that it has been dependable at all. All the failures are common amongst other owners, but one noteworthy one is the problem with the door lock that I would like to bring to your attention. After 44K miles all the power door locks on this vehicle will fail simultaneously. The only door that has a manual key lock is the driver's door. The doors will not function with they remote door opener or by the switches within the vehicle. This failure is commonplace with all late model Dodge Caravan. Attempts to repair this issue seem to be temporary. I (like many others) feel Dodge should take responsibility in this matter. The mere fact that the rear door is fully electronic and can not be opened at all under this condition should be a safety issue. I fear that in an accident, or case of fire, not having all doors available in a panic situation could be fatal. Please advise.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Bought new. Around 2008, after warranty expired, the power door locks stopped working, whether you used the button on the door or the button on the remote. After researching this issue, it appears that this is a recurring problem with this make and model and year van. If you disconnect the battery for a minute and reconnect it, the door locks will work again, maybe for an hour or for a week before they stop working again, it is always random amount of time before it quits again. The dealership would charge to attempt to fix it since it is not covered under any recall.

Power door locks have stopped working on my 2005 Dodge Caravan. You can only lock/unlock the back sliding doors manually. From doing some investigating, it appears this is a common problem for the 2005 Dodge Caravan, and one that I do not think should be taken lightly. Children are normally the ones sitting by these doors, and I think this is a liability. About a year ago, the driver's side stopped working, and then a few months ago, the passenger one stopped working.

My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan's power locks stopped working today,8/05/09. Looking on the internet for some answers to the problem I see I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. Temporary solutions abound but nothing from Chrysler is posted nor have I received any recall notice. My van was purchased new on 03/06/06 and has only 50,000 miles on it. Dealers want to charge me hundreds of dollars attempting to rectify the situation. I don't believe I should be charged. Chrysler should recall all vehicles with the problem and fix them no/charge.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that all of the door locks stopped working in her vehicle four months ago. She called the dealer and was informed that a diagnostic would cost $300. The dealer also stated that the computer in the door locks needed to be reset. The failure has recently recurred. The failure mileage was 99,950.
