Van has ignition problem that causes lights and engine not to start. Had many issues with ignition with repairs had re key and turn off the alarm. No luck spent over $4000. Problem still exist. Please help.

My van shuts off without notice - no warning light, no hesitation - just shuts off. I took to fullerton dealership - car was returned to Monday 07/14. I asked for the part they fixed, they refused to give it to me. Today, 07/18 while driving thru a parking lot, the van shut off again. This is a life and death situation as I could get rammed from behind and myself and children may be killed. I spent $580.73 of money I use to feed my children because I need transportation and it is not fixed. I want my funds returned and I want my car fixed or I want another car. I desperately need your help

2010 @ 40,000 miles, totally integrated power module (tipm) replaced due to electrical issues with door locks (under warranty). 2014 @ 124,000 miles tipm short again starting with the front blower motor. Tipm needs replaced again. Estimate $900, no parts available due to massive back order and no timeline of when parts will be available. Advised not to drive vehicle due to safety issues (I.e. random airbag deployment, loss of ignition, fire hazard). Main vehicle for family of five, must drive daily for work and family appointments.

I was picking up my daughter and opened the door and the horn started blowing, the wipers were going, and the window washer fluid was spraying out. It finally stopped and was fine but has happened multiple times since one time even when I was driving down the rd and now I've had to disconnect the battery but now I can't connect it again because it won't stop going crazy like that.

The windshield wipers on my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan will not turn off and my blinkers, spray, rear windshield wipers, and brights will not turn on. I have tried resetting the battery and this accomplished nothing. It has been diagnosed as the tipm, which I understand is hard to get your hands on, and the price of replacement is extremely high. It appears to be a very common problem with this make and model of Caravan. I have had several electronic issues including windows that do not roll down, doors that do not unlock, key that gets stuck in the ignition, and sliding doors that stop working.

TL- the contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the key would remain stuck in the ignition switch and fail to power on or off the vehicle. In addition, when driving the steering wheel seized and the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that the speedometer, the tripometer, the cruise control and the power doors failed. The power door locks only operated when the vehicle was powered off and the security door lock feature activated intermittently. The contact also stated that both the accelerator and brake pedal traveled to the floorboard as a result the vehicle delayed to come to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the control module, the transmission leak on the transmission line, the oil pan and the molding needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14V373000 (electrical system) and NHTSA campaign id number: 11V394000 (air bags and equipment). Electrical issues. Upon starring, car wipers will not turn off, windows will not open or close, car does not shift right / bucks, car has difficulty shutting off, the gps/tv flickers and the cd eject runs constantly even when the car is off. Had it looked at by local non Dodge mechanic and was told not to dive it as it was probably the tipm. Called the dealer and described the issue and they gave me a service date of 14 days in the future to even look at the issue. Internet sources say Chrysler will need 30 - 60 days to order back ordered part. Its scary to think that some folks would need to drive their car for 2 weeks in this condition before it can even be seen and even longer as they wait for a part. I don't think its safe to drive, if this had failed while driving I would be very concerned.

While my vehicle was parked at a campground, I click my key fob to unlock the door and the rear windshield wiper started going off. Tried to start the vehicle and it would not start, no lights nothing completely dead. The wiper eventually stopped. A few hours later, still parked with no keys in it, the windshield wiper fluid and wipers started after I clicked the unlock button on the key fob again. The fluid kept shooting until it ran out of fluid. Then a few hours later with again no keys in it or key fob use the horn began blaring. Then the lights and wipers went off as well. Finally I was able to get the battery disconnected and it stopped. I reconnected the battery two hours later only to roll up my windows and the horn immediately started going off. I had it towed to the dealership down the street and I am now waiting on the results. I'm glad my family was not with and/ or I was driving.

Vehicle started accelerating unintentionally with engine going to high RPM. Driver was driving at 45 mph as vehicle randomly took off. Vehicle reached close to 85 mph with the brake pedal pressed to the floor. Driver avoided a near collision with another vehicle. Driver turned the ignition off in order to stop the vehicle. Vehicle had two people inside during the incident and two witnesses following the vehicle behind, in another car. Witnesses described seeing the Dodge Caravan take off suddenly beyond the legal speed limit, with smoke pouring out from the brakes and the brake lights on. Driver described that he felt the throttle pedal physically stuck and the vehicle's RPM increasing, even while pressing and pumping on the brake pedal. After this incident and doing some research, we have found numerous complains online with similar situations. The Dodge Caravan, in this incident, does not have any aftermarket floor mats as Dodge claims to be the cause of unintentional acceleration in similar occurrences that have been reported to Dodge. The driver, passenger, and the witness are willing to make a statement, if necessary.

Since I can't remember the dates of the other incidents I will start with yesterday June 25, 2014. I drove all morning running here and there and everything was fine. I stopped at the post office to mail a package and could not restart the vehicle. The van engine did not even turn over. The dash is blank except for the mileage. I called aaa for a tow and they found that the van was stuck in park and would not budge out of park. So it is still at the post office until we can figure out how to get it out of park. Other issues. A few months ago, in the winter of 2013, the van was in my garage and it would not start. I thought it was the battery and so I turned off the radio and heat and tried it again and it started. This happened every morning with me taking my child to school for about a week. It never did it for my husband. I think I told the dealer about it on my next oil change visit, but they said they can only check it when it is happening. Another time last summer (2013), the horn, and wipers and wiper fluid just started going off by themselves as I tried to start the van. I took the key out and pressed the door open and lock buttons to see if it would stop and it did. I tried to start the van again and it did it again. Repeated the same open and lock procedure and it stopped. I waited a few minutes to start the van and it did not do it again. The following day as I was driving on a busy road, highway 278, it did it again. I had to pull over and I turned off the van did the open and lock button on the key and it stopped. Of course it never repeated for my husband or ever again.

This problem has been intermittent and getting worse. Sometimes it happens when we' driving and sometimes when it's parked with the engine off. The engine dies, horns blow, wipers go crazy and lights go on. All you can do is coast to a safe spot, wait for a while, then restart the van.today as my husband drove to work, the power brakes went out. He was able to stop but it was very hard and dangerous. Purchased this vehicle 6/30/2012 1st incident 8/2012 driving down highway at 65 mph at night in wooded area so it was pitch black and headlights shut off, wipers running and spraying fluid, horn started blaring, outside lights went crazy, gauges went nuts, and power steering went out. Pulled over when we were able (two lane road w/no shoulders) and after a few minutes went back to normal and ran just fine. The second time it happened was in 10/2012 basically same thing was returning from son's football game on a Friday night at midnight and headlights went out, wipers going crazy, and horn blaring, lights going off. Didn't do it again for awhile then since 3/2013 about every 2 to 3 weeks we have this same issue, van can be sitting in drive and still does it. I have had my children in the car on numerous occasions when this has happened and it scares us all to death. We have almost been hit from behind on more than one of these occasions when power steering went out while making a turn, (it slowed the vehicle down to manually turn it) which I could barely do, and almost received a ticket for faulty equipment due to the brake and reverse lights going off on their own (cop gave me a warning this time) after looking up the issue and talking to a mechanic it is a faulty tipm (totally integrated power module), which by the way has been on "backorder" for more than 18 months cause I've been calling on it since 10/2012. I have researched and apparently this is an ongoing issue with this vehicle, there are over 200 of the 420 complaints on this site about this very issue and thousands more online, yet there has not even been an investigation? I guess the NHTSA is not as concerned about safety as they claim to be! there needs to be a recall done for this model and the years affected for the faulty part that's going to end up with someone seriously injured or dead!

As I was driving home from the store this morning, I was taking a turn onto my street when the engine shut off and I lost power steering and brakes. I was barely able to muscle the steering wheel to complete the rest of the turn and avoid hitting another car that was turning to go the way that I was coming from. The lady in the other car was looking at me in fear with her arms raised like "what are you doing!?" I tried to turn the engine on several times with no luck as I coasted down my street forcefully pumping the brakes to slow down and stop in front of my house. Once I took the key out of the ignition and tried to restart the engine, it started. I did some research on the internet and this seems to be a problem with other models as well. There is even a recall on Dodge Grand Caravan that were manufactured from 3 August 2009 to 17 June 2010 for this exact problem. I have read on this website and many others that this issue exists outside these dates though and that the Dodge company is not doing anything. I have not consulted with my dealership yet but I am hopeful because they seem to be great people. Whatever the case, I do not feel safe having my wife drive my children around. I do not feel as if she would be able to muscle the steering wheel without power steering during a turn in the event that the car turned off in the middle of a turn as it did to me. This is a huge safety issue and there should be a recall issued to encompass all the years that are affected and not just the ones where people have been killed.

On occasion the vehicle will set of a signal alarm and display esp bas brake ABS and the esp symbol will illuminate - also the panel lights will flicker. I will also feel a very slight hesitation on my forward motion. It does not always happen - but always while vehicle was just starting to heat up.

08 Dodge Grand Caravan switched off while driving with my 3 & 4 year old children in the car - vehicle then began to read bad key error. Was informed by Dodge dealership that vehicle has bad win module. Dodge not willing to replace - this part has been recalled on multiple Chrysler and Jeep vehicles showing this to be an inherently defective part, and should be recalled on all vehicles containing faulty win modules. Dodge will be charging me approximately $850 to replace. The win module is a device that sends electronic signal to the engine to let car know appropriate key is being used (security device), not a wearable part. This situation could have been much worse or even life threatening had device failed on highway. Dodge should do the right thing and replace.
