I have had my van now for about 700 miles, we bought it used from a local dealership. I ran the van through an automatic car wash, and when I put the van back into gear and began to move the check engine light came on. So I turned off the van hoping to reset the check engine light and the van did not want to start back up. (at this point I am in a alley with one way traffic) finally I got the van to start but the check engine light was still on when I put it into gear it sputtered and then stopped it gave a red light with a bolt through it and also the oil light came one. Again I tried several times to start the vehicle and finally got it to go again. Then while driving down the road it began shifting on its own, it is an automatic but the 1, 2, 4, 3, 2, 1 gears began showing an finally it stalled, lucky I was able to coast into a parking lot. This vehicle is not trust worthy. Please investigate this issue. I do have some video of these things happening.

Dodge has known about issues with transmissions for years 2011 Grand Caravan models and has put out several technical service bulletins regarding these issues and issues with oxygen sensors as well. Now, my vehicle is at a dealership with a transmission that needs to be replaced and faulty O2 sensors that total between $6,000 and $7,000 worth of work. Dodge also knows about brake issues that affect the safe operation and stopping of these models and has yet to repair any of these issues.

Takata recall. 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. We bought it in June 2018..problems began in jily 2018. It began with tire sensor light coming on and staying on but no issues....then advanced to not starting at all..evaluation resulting in several towing bills even after 2 new fuel pumps put in..then a fuel pump relay. Ran for a while and continued to shut power off while driving on highways, back rds. No warning lights just shut off. More towing costs. Very dangerous situations due to no warning and while driving when vehicle just off. Now U understanding numerous Dodge Grand Caravan dealing w same issues and refusing recall...putting lives at high risk especially w a special needs in vehicle, my little kids and kids scout friends. Its currently unable to safely drive due to its unexpected shut off while driving

Vehicle stalls/dies while driving. My family was on the freeway and the Dodge Caravan just died. Lights still worked but engine suddenly quit running. Had to coast to the side of the road after almost being run over by other vehicles. A police officer had to push vehicle off of freeway. This has happened intermittently on city streets and 3 times on the freeway. It happens at slow and fast speeds. It is extremely unsafe and scary. We had a fuel pump relay bypass installed as we've read this could be the problem. But vehicle still dies while driving. Someone is going to get hurt or killed. Please help!

Apparently this is a widely known problems with Dodge and related Chrysler vehicles according to our mechanic. Basically the tipm--totally integrated power module is bad and this causes among other symptoms: Vehicle not starting, issues with electric controls(lighting), issues with fuel system(fuel pump or relay) our vehicle had issues starting. Especially during wintertime this happened. And having replaced the battery new and also having ensured sparkplugs are new, those issues were ruled out. Starter issue also were ruled out both by obvservation and mechanic. The vehicle continued to have difficulty and intermittent successes in starting, up to the point that it didn't start anymore on 12/10/2018. The starter is turning but engine doesn't start. So took it to the mechanic and learned that the tipm is the issue. Prior to it totally failing to start., in the past 4 months, the vehicle had stalled 4 to 5 times while driving it on the thread going about 30 to 40 miles an hour with traffic. I realized that this is a safety issue because basically the car stops all of a sudden while driving on the road--with traffic. When this failure happens, apparently no fuel goes into the engine that the vehicle comes to a halt. There is no power steering and radio or other--as if the power was just totally disconnected. Luckily we were able to steer the vehicle to the side off the road, using its momentum. And after a couple times turning able to restart the vehicle. Again the sudden engine stoppage occurred around 5 times and I was able to restart it after a couple of tries. Until the vehicle would no longer start at all from a parking lot. The repairs cos $1300+ for the tipm which had to be dealer ordered and reprogrammed.

Over the last 6 months we have encountered the following issues: All have been a stopped position. 3 times the van would not start. It would not turn over. The van has started to stall on regular basis. The van takes 2 to 4 attempts to start. On October 17, 2018, the van would not start at all. We had the van towed. They stated there was no pressure to the fuel pump. $900 dollars later, they state the van is ready. We go to pick it up. The van would not start for 3 attempts. Then the van started with a different key. Drove it for 4 minutes and then park and turned off the car. Went to start it again, it kept stalling. It stalled about 5 times. We switched back to the first key that would not start the car. It actually started twice. We left the van with the auto repair place. They stated there were no issues with the van. We got it back on October 18th. It has only started one time since then the first try. It has stalled occasionally since then. Once on Oct 21st, the braking system did not engage while the van was being back out. Once before the issues started to happen, the gas pump did not stop and the fuel over flowed.

The tipm in our van has failed, it is a known and common issue for Chrysler and they refuse to acknowledge the issue or do anything to fix the issue. It causes multiple electrical system failures and ultimately renders the engine useless at random times when the relay fails. My car will no longer start due to the failure of this part, and the known issues with it.
