Grand Caravan

  • 65,500 miles
After driving at highway speeds for 2 hours, when returning home and shutting off the engine, I heard whirling noises coming from my fuel tank. Upon moving the vehicle, 30 minutes later, the van experienced a rough start. The following morning, the battery was dead. After jumping off the vehicle, it ran smoothly but I am concerned this will happen again.

My 2011 Caravan started having problems starting, first it would act like it was going to start but then it wouldn't thinking it just wasn't getting enough power I went and had the battery checked and went ahead and replaced the battery. Problem not fixed it acted like it wasn't getting fuel from the line so I went to get the fuel filter changed no help there either. Was told to have the tcim checked because that's what everyone said that has been having the same issue. Turns out it is the tcim and Dodge is not fixing the problem... it has now began to stall out while driving down the hwy and has made it very dangerous to pull the van to a safe place off the hwy. This problem has been reported several times to Dodge with no luck.there's evan a 2017 Dodge Caravan that is having the same problem...

Vehicle stopped running while driving. Got the van off the road and was able to get it to run again. Van spit and sputtered for about a minute or two and then drove fine to get it home, about two miles. Once home cut off and started with no problems. Sat over night and then would not start. Engine turned over but would not run. Checked the fuel pump and it was not getting power. Applied power to the fuse and it ran. Remove power from the fuse, and it cut off. This is very unsafe to have it happen on the highway. If this would have cut off on the interstate in the fast lane, it could have been very bad news.

Grand Caravan

  • 34,000 miles
The vehicle has 34,000 miles on it and will not start. Once it's does start it shuts off. Was informed it was fuel pump. Once the fuel pump was replaced the vehicle did the exact same thing. This is very dangerous because it's a handicapped accessible vehicle and when you drive it stalls and cuts off very dangerous in traffic and when you have a tractor trailer behind you. The dealer then says it's the "totally integrated power module" which is not not covered under warranty. This is very dangerous and a recall need to be issued before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Tire pressure sensor light is always on, fuel pump runs after the vehicle is shut off, automatic rear doors open and close intermittently with out the push of the buttons. We have had to replace 4 batteries and 3 alternators, every time the dealership tells us this is a common issue with the tipm. Previously we have also replaced the transmission and the engine has needed repairs. Engine repairs were covered under a recall but not the transmission.

The fuel pump relay built into the tipm has gone bad, and from research is very common in these vehicles. The car has become increasingly difficult to start, and now will not start at all.

Wont start. Fuel pump doesnt run at times, no fuel no start. At times it runs & stops on road. Verry dangerous in traffic. Windows roll down by themself. Doors un lock by themself. Dealer doesnt know what is wrong I am told. The dealer says the problem may be the tipm computer but will not say for sure. But they will replace it if I want, for $1200 no guarantee it will fix it. These vehicles with this type of computer should be recalled. They are a danger tothe public. When driving on road they will stop running because of fuelpump & tipm are not working correctlu.

In July 2017 my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan was brought to my Dodge dealership due to problems starting and the stalling of vehicle while on the road. Dealership felt it was the fuel pump which was covered under my vehicle protection plan. My car was given back to me approximately 3 days later. My husband picked up the car and within 4 hours, car gave difficulty starting and stalled while driving at a major intersection. Dealership was contacted the very next morning and car was brought to back to the dealership. It was then discovered that the tipm of the car had to be replaced. This unfortunately is not covered. My issue is that if the car is stalling at intersections and possibly endangering the life of myself and my children in the car.. how can this not be covered" how can there not be a safety recall" I am lucky that the car did start back up, but I now fear driving this vehicle.

Car would not start but wiper blades would turn on, took to dealership. Totally integrated power module (tipm) found to be defective. $1500 repair, part is not in stock and not under warranty. Car was parked. There was a lawsuit filed but settlement did not include Dodge Caravan but there are numerous complaints about the same issue.

Car will not start, will crank but no turn over. It will only start if I bypass the fuel pump relay. This is an ongoing issue with Dodge/Chrysler and some vehicles have been recalled for this fault tipm but the Caravan hasn't. this is a safety issue as the car will stall at any moment while driving if does start to begin with.

I purchased my 2011 Grand Caravan in July 2012 an have had several problems with it ever since. There have been multiple instances of the engine stalling while driving and/or my vehicle not starting. I have since troubleshot this down to the fuel pump relay being faulty in the tipm. I have also had issues of un-commanded opening and closing of the rear sliding doors while parked. I also get an random flicker of the airbag light on dash with audio tone. These issues were discussed with a mechanic at the local Dodge dealership when having a recall performed on the "misfire" issue. I was told that the software was updated and I should not have any more issues. That has definitely not been the case. One of the above mentioned issues occurs on a weekly if not daily basis. I do not feel safe putting my family in this vehicle!

Van stalls and sometimes will not start back up. This has happened a few times on the highway so I can no longer drive the van as this problem is getting worst every day my husband drives it to work and has had the same problem as I have had with the van. We are thinking of trading it in but don't want anyone to get suck in the middle of the highway

We have had our van now for almost 2 years with no problems. In mid-August, my wife was taking my daughter to marching band practice at 5 am. She told me that as she was going through an intersection, it just stalled on her. Thankfully, it was only 5 am and not during rush hour. Being the skeptical guy I am, I though maybe she had hit the key somehow and shut it down. Then it happened to me and I was nearly rear-ended. I checked it out and didn't find anything, but from that day forth, it became hard to start at random times. Sometimes when we turn the key, the ignition will crank, but the engine won't start and we'll have to turn the key off to make it stop turning over. Other times, it will attempt to start, or even start, then immediately stall. Eventually, and sometimes after 8-10 attempts, it will start and run until the next time we park it. Ever since I checked it out, I have noticed that, at times, you can't hear the hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key, while other times it doesn't seem to stop making noise. Just this morning, I left to go to work, only to find that the van won't start. Apparently, one of the other obvious signs of a bad tipm is the occasional dead battery....caused by a fuel pump that the tipm fuel relay fails to shut off.at this point, my van has been sitting since October of 2016, as we cannot afford the high repair cost. The repair estimate that I was quoted for the tipm will cost around $1100. Had this been taken care of by Chrysler, I may have saved what I spent on batteries and the alternator.

The vehicle does not start intermediately and has been diagnosed as a problem with the fuel pump relay embedded in the tipm that cannot be accessed or repaired by normal means. This defect can cause the vehicle to shut down without warning causing a great safety problem. This same problem was experienced by the Dodge durango and other Chrysler vehicles and a recall was issued to fix this problem.
