Grand Caravan SE 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,000 miles

By reading everyone else's combined issues I believe this is the problem. At random it wouldn't start, thinking it was battery or alternator we jumped it and nothing. Tow guy said probably starter but it can't be because there is no power either. No locking doors with key fob or rolling up the side window. Completely dead. If any of you are still having problems I found this page with lawsuit info and recall info. Not under the dodge listing but the Chrysler only though 2012 Dodge Caravan was a model I'm the lawsuit thus put on the recall list. Check it out even if you paid for it to be fixed you should be entitled to reimbursement under law suit

Grand Caravan ST 3.6L

I have a Dodge Caravan 2012 and taking it in for several electrical issues. when it was sent to the Dallas Dodge in Dallas, Ga there was an issue with car killing two brand new batteries. Brought a third one and finally call to have it picked up so they could check it. They would not call me back to let know what was the issue - I had to call 10 to 15 times to speak to the service guy. When I did speak to him a couple of times he could not find the issue.

He then called me and said it was the driver seat wiring systems and to fix it would by $500.00. I advised him if that was the issue and it would be working properly go ahead. I picked up my car and got it home. The next morning the battery was dead. So I had it sent back to them and they check it again and did not find anything. I got it back the next day which was a Saturday after sitting there making sure they check everything.

Basically they said the battery was dead and nothing was wrong. I told them if I had any issues I would bring it back on Monday. I advised i will remove the battery cable to at least go to church the next day. When I got home from church I did not take cable off and battery died again. So on Monday 8/17, I was at the dealership again. They said the put it on a computer system for several hours and only notice that my battery was have way drained. I still no answers to what caused it to drain. I notice that a motor in the rear area would not stop running. The car would completely turned off.

Now we notice that we having delays in starting the car like fuel is not get the engine. After a couple of minutes trying to start, it would stall out and then finally start. So again I had to take battery cable off until the next following Monday - 8/24, I this time they advised me it was the TIMP module and it will cost me $1000 to fix it. Me and family don't feel safe in the car, now we are experiencing stalling while we are driving. This is not good service if you know there is an issue and there is a recall for this part.

The door locks stopped working for both the lock button and the key fob. This becomes a safety issue because the side doors can be locked manually, but the lift gate does not have a manual lock. Additionally online research shows that the TIPM failure can cause catastrophic events such as sudden airbag deployment for no reason, failure to start, stalling while driving, etc.!! Chrysler is said to be well aware of this issue and has yet to initiate a recall and we were planning on a Florida vacation this year (we live in Ohio) and due to the possibility of getting stuck on our way or once there, we decided not to go to the dismay of our kids. Fix this problem Chrysler and quit screwing your customers!!!

I only had the car for 4 months and now I am having electrical problems. My windshield wipers won't go off and I can't tell have fast I am going or how much gas is in my car. I pretty much have no electrical working in the car. Everything on the dash board is blinding or it goes out and keeps beeping at me. It is my only vehicle, I have to get back and forth to work.

Grand Caravan Crew 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,051 miles

With no warning, I went out to start my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, and it turned over for about a second, then it was like someone turned off the power to the starter ... it just quit! I tried and tried to start it, but all I get is one small click when I turn the key.

I got online and did a search, only to find that this problem has been rampant for years now; and Chrysler apparently won't do anything about it. I am currently unemployed and need my van to look for work, and to get to work if I find a job. We are living on my wife's income right now, so I can't afford to put it in the shop, and the warranty has run out. It's only 2 years old ... there's no way I should be having major problems this soon!

I don't know what I'm going to do at this point, but I am furious after reading the horror stories people have posted, where some have spent $2000 - $3000 to get this fixed, and then the problem comes back!!!

Grand Caravan Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,720 miles

Documented since 2013, this van has had problems with the following: speedometer does not read, gauges do not read, windshield wipers turn on and off intermittently, headlights do not work, all warning lights read, a/c does not work, and all this has happened several times randomly. In May 2014, the van had transmission issues where it would not shift out of low gear and driver had to twice shift into neutral and back into drive to shift properly. 6 repair attempts were made on the van beginning May 2013 and ending in May 2014 with no success. Replacement of the TIPM was twice attempted but failed because of the faulty 2012 TIPM. The van is used by RSVP, a federally funded nationwide non-profit that transports senior volunteers to their work sites. It also has an expensive graphic wrap. This van has the potential to put people into a dangerous crash and needs to be repaired by Chrysler immediately.

Grand Caravan SXT 6-3.6L-Fi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,000 miles

My doors will not lock or unlock at all. The remote does nothing and I have to manually open the doors. The fuse burnt out and I was told it was the TIPM. The replacement was going to be $1,000. I started to look into it and found that there was a class action lawsuit. I'm very concerned about what other things may fail and want it replaced so that I don't have an airbag or something blow up in my face!

Grand Caravan SE 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,583 miles

Stalls while driving, does not give an error code, rough idle. Just bought the damn thing end of August 2014 at 42000 kms on engine. Vin didn't even bring up a possible recall because Chrysler can't be bothered to be decent about it. Vehicle is my source of income. Can't go to work with an unreliable vehicle, luckily I do own a 2004 caravan that is still in good condition, maybe Chrysler should go back to their older dodge engineering and build then like they used to. The Penestar engine is a piece of crap.

I was leaving work at midnight. No power to van. keys were stuck in ignition. Lights would not turn off, finally had van towed next day. At first dealer said it was the battery but then said it was TIPM. It was explained this is happening a lot with these vehicles but no recall as of now. $1266.00 was a lot of unexpected cost.
