The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact noticed that the rear driver's side sliding door failed to open and close electronically and manually. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Sliding side door is stuck in the lock position. There is no way to exit the car, posing a major safety concern. The quotes to get this issue fixed range from $1000-3000. This is something that is happening to many many Grand Caravan owners and it is unbelievable unsafe, and clearly a faulty issue with the car.

I arrived at the store, I was with my wife and kids. Shut the vehicle off and tried opening the sliding door on the drivers side. The door was stuck. I could not unlock with the remote or manually. I tried various methods and the door is sealed shut. This is a major hazard. In case of an emergency you won't able passengers out fast enough. In this case being my children.

Both sliding doors have failed. The passenger side accuator is failing and the locking mechanism on the driver's side is stuck in the locked position. I cannot open the door at all and this is a major safety issue. The door does not open when car is in park and off or on.

Sliding rear passenger side door does not lock. Manual lock is stuck in the open position and does not change position with the inside buttons or the key fobs. I've read online about many vans like mine with this issue (2012 and up...). some of them are stuck in the locked position! the estimated cost is $1100 which I can not afford. Of course my warranty ran out in March and this happened in August.

2016 grand Dodge Caravan passenger slider door does not open or close with key fobe, overhead button or manually. It just stopped working. Seems that the door is in the lock position. Cannot move the unlock/lock button on the door. This is a danger with children in the car. Did get it open by pushing on the door button and the key fobe at the same time, and it worked for awhile, now it will not work at all and cannot get the door open. There are other people that have same the problem and Dodge wants to charge to fix this problem that seems to happen to alot of their vans.

A few months ago the passenger side rear sliding door on my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan stopped operating with my children in the vehicle. The door is stuck in lock position and I am unable to open the door at all. Today the other sliding door (driver side rear sliding door) stopped working, locking my 4 month old, 2 year old and 4 year old in the rear of the van. We were able to climb over the middle console in the front seat to get the children out. If this was an emergency situation, all of our lives could've been in danger due to the doors not opening. I've researched it and it seems to be a very common problem among Dodge/Chrysler vans in the last 10 years.

Driver's side sliding door mechanical latching mechanism for the sliding door's lock is malfunctioning and causing the door to become stuck in the shut position, with the mechanical lock physically unable to be operated, resulting in the door being bound in the shut position. Mechanical lock does not respond to commands from the driver's or passenger's side unlock buttons, or from either of two key fobs in the unlock or lock commanded positions. Additionally, open & shut commands to the door from the key fobs and the above-center-console buttons do not operate the door. Notable information: When attempting to open the sliding door from the key fob, the locking mechanism is heard to be attempting to unlock the door, but results in no operation of the sliding door, or the lock itself. This is safety concern as passengers in the rear of the vehicle can become trapped should a roll over condition exist. The cost for this repair is approximately $1100 usd, and is a known issue by Dodge. $1100 usd should not be required for a mechanical defect that was present at the time of construction, that is a known issue by the vehicle manufacturer, and presents a significant safety concern for any occupants of the rear portion of the vehicle.

The driver side sliding door had been working perfectly. On vacation we were parked at our son's when we tried to open it it is in a locked position nothing will release it we have tried the car fob, manually, and the controller on the upper console. It is a safety hazard that needs resolved. And an expensive thing to fix which should never have happened.

The driver side slider door will not unlock by any means. The local Dodge dealership service department diagnosed the issue as the actuator needing to be replaced. It seems that this is a common complaint and is a safety issue. A major door part should last more than 3 years.

I'm writing to inform you of an issue with our 2016 Dodge Caravan. The sliding door on the passenger side is unable to be opened from the inside, from the outside or when using the key fob. This is a major safety issue in the event of an accident or fire as well as a major inconvenience. The repair cost quoted to me is $1000. This is not in our budget right now and $2000 certainly is not if the other side were to malfunction as well. This van is 3 years old with less than 70000 miles on it. I'm asking for a recall inquiry as I have read that this is a common issue with these vans. Please, for the safety of the thousands of families that own these vans, issue a recall on these sliding door mechanisms.
