Transmission loss of power driving down interstate now slips while driving locally

Transmission started making a whining noise going down the road then stop pulling having to replace the transmission at 92000 miles and it was service regular we bought this van in 2016 with 4 miles and no recall on it I will never buy another one Dodge Grand Caravan

Transmission pump failed while driving and resulting in loss of drivability. Vehicle began making a whining sound while on the interstate and we exited the highway. Vehicle lost ability to move while in a parking lot/drive-thru.

While driving, the vehicle began making a very faint whining noise. I stopped at a red light, and then the vehicle had trouble accelerating. I was able to make it home, but the vehicle wouldn't make it up the driveway; it kept rolling backwards. After reading over 100 complaints with the same problem, I'm pretty irate to find out there was a recall, but my VIN# isn't included. The warranty also covers the powertrain up to 60K miles and I'm at 61832, just over the warranty. I shouldn't have to replace my transmission on a 4 year old vehicle, when numerous others are complaining of the same problem and other vehicles of the same make/model are under recall.

The contact was informed that the transmission hydraulic pump and torque converter caused a loss of pressure in the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V462000 (power train). The failure mileage was 52,000. The consumer stated he had to pay for the replacement of the transmission.

The transmission pump has failed while driving and now the transmission will not shift smoothly it jerks and sometimes won't shift at all making the RPM's go very high before it shift with a hard jerk. Makes a whining noise and is unstable.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The transmission on my Dodge Caravan failed. The pump on it failed. There is a recall for this same problem but Dodge says it's VIN specific and mine is not covered. Since they hold all of the info. How do I know they are not lying. The repair cost me $4,700. They refuse to pay. This vehicle should be added to the recall list. Dodge recall is htsa 16V46100. Thanks, david J. arnold

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle with the transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle loss motive power while driving uphill and the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact depressed the brake pedal for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer salvadore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (442 w broadway #2, gardner, MA 01440) where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (power train) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,973.

Transmission issues as described in the transmission recall for the fudge Grand Caravan in 2016 happened to us, loss of power to the drive train while the vehicle was in operation and moving. Seems our VIN is not in the recall list.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after stopping for fuel, the contact drove approximately a mile away at 40 mph, when the vehicle loss motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle seemed like it was shifted into neutral. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle eventually failed to exceed 5 mph. Crystal lake Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (5404 S Illinois rte 31, crystal lake, il 60012, (815) 768-2885) was contacted and informed of the failure. The dealer notified the contact of NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (power train) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was also informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000. The consumer stated when the faiilure occured the engine raced. The consumer attempted the restart the engine multiple times but the failure persisted. The consumer stated the vehicle should be included in the recall as it had the same issues detailed in the recall. The consumer stated the vehicle had the same sales code and manufacturing date as the affected vehicles according to the recall notice. The manufacturer and dealer were contacted, both suggested contacting NHTSA.

On Friday Sept 4th I was using my vehicle normally. After turning it off at my home after going to the bank, I attempted to turn it back on to go to work and it wouldn't move into gear. I put the vehicle in drive, but the engine just made a revving sound and didn't move. I tried reverse, neutral, drive and the vehicle only revved. After missing work, we had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop that told us a recall was not including our VIN #. they explained that the transmission pump wasn't getting fluid to the transmission and since it failed our transmission was damaged. We our now facing needing a new transmission. I don't see how there is an active recall that includes my make and year and vehicle type but excludes my VIN. If I had been aware of a recall a small repair could have been made. Now my vehicle needs an entire new transmission. This could have been deadly if my vehicle died in the middle of an intersection. A Caravan is sold specifically as a family vehicle. Yet this company is putting my babies at risk. If their transmission pump is bad it's in all the Caravan, not just one or two. This needs to be fixed before someone actually gets injured.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to contact NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Upon pressing the gas pedal to accelerate it feels and sounds as if my van is in the neutral position. It takes time for it to finally 'catch' and begin to actually accelerate. The hotter it is the worse the van seems to get with this problem to the point where it makes a high pitch sounds like it is just being set to a neutral position and pressing the gas pedal to make a high pitched sound. At this point it does not move until something finally 'catches' and makes it go-even then moving from a crawl speed. While driving the vehicle it also makes a high pitch sound from the engine area.
