Dodge should be ashamed to have produced and not stood by their product! My transmission failed at 48,000 miles! This was not covered under warranty and really put this Mom in a horrible position. The transmission just started slipping. Now after replacing this, at the sum of $2,000, the engine is knocking! I am headed to turn in this vehicle and cut my losses! Oh, it also has had a clunk when turning in either direction and produces a whining noise when the steering wheel is turned. Oops! almost forgot the two O2 sensors that I replaced. Get out while you still can!

We began having transmission troubles with our 2002 Dodge Intrepid at about 89,000 miles in the summer of 2005. Slippage was progressively bad and we had the transmission serviced with a new solenoid pack plus a filter and fluid change for about $400 at a local transmission shop. Now it's October 2006 and at 111000 miles the transmission won't engage into gear (forward or reverse) until the car warms up. And the service engine light came on with a code that the computer detected a transmission slippage. Really hoping this latest problem is minor seeing as how we still owe too much on the car to trade it in. But if it requires a rebuilt transmission (at about $1800 - $2500), would I be further ahead getting rid of it without the repair or continue to keep dumping money into a car thats become very undependable lately? Anybody have a similar problem with the transmission and some advice to go with it? Thanks!!!

On the highway, felt a really hard jolt. Got off the highway, everytime I came to a stop, the excelleration was really struggling and I heard some grinding, each time excellerating became more difficult until finally IT JUST WOULDN'T MOVE! Checked the trans fluid, it was DRY with no lights coming on until this event was over. It's at the dealer as we speak. Hoping and praying this will be covered under my extended 7/70,000 warranty.

TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. NO WARRANTY!!! I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY I WISH I NEVER GOT A DODGE, THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING CAUSE I GIVE ME ANOTHER CAR OR PAY FOR IT BEING FIXED THIS IS NOT NORMAL, FOR TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT AT THIS FEW MILES

this darn car can't be driven on route 22 thats how bad it is, i paid over 1000 to get the problem fixed from different dodge dealers whom could never find a problem. now all of a sudden the trans is slipping, the cylinoid is gone in it, the sensor is bad. i haven't had the car for a year and it's terrible. the bad part about it it's been in the shop for 1week or so and the part still hasn't come in. to top this off i have a car payment and the car is not worth anything so if i try to trade it in, i will end up still owing the bank and have a new car note.
