Intrepid 2.7L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

I'm having a hard time coming up with words to describe how disgusted I am with this car. We bought it in 2004. At 52,000 miles, the engine blew while our daughter was driving - not stopped, but while the car was actually moving. No warning lights, nothing. Had it towed to the dealer who said the damage was caused by engine sludge. We had an extended warranty but because we couldn't document oil changes every 3000 miles, they wouldn't cover it. We bought a NEW engine with warranty, changed the oil (using synthetic oil, which is expensive) every 3000 miles, and the new engine bit the dust at 35,000 miles! Fortunately, we had receipts for all the oil changes, but it's been nearly two months and the car is still in the shop because our mechanic has had so many problems getting them to honor the warranty. We'll still be out $800 for labor. This is clearly a defective engine, and Dodge is well aware of it but won't take responsibility. I have been contacted by DOT but they haven't been able to find enough people who can document the oil changes to justify a recall. As I understand it, the problem is a too-small radiator, among other things. Two engines and 85,000 miles??? Give me a break, this is NOT a fluke - it's a bum engine. If you've had the same problem, PLEASE contact DOT.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

As I posted earlier, we had to replace the engine in our 2003 Dodge Intrepid at 52,000 miles. The second engine bit the dust 35,000 miles later. I am posting this again so the number of complaints on the '03 Intrepid is reflective of our experience. It's a piece of crap, folks.

Intrepid ES 2.7

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,000 miles

The oil light came on and then there was nothing. I barely got it off the road. Thank God I did not have my children with me. It was 7 degrees outside. I think that chrysler should replace my car.

Has anyone had any luck getting this done?

THAT F*CKING CAR IS A PIECE OF SH*T. I WOULD RATHER RUN IT OFF A BRIDGE. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I GOT IT BECAUSE I HAVE TWO KIDS AND IT IS SPACIOUS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STOPS RUNNING WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THEY CANT FIND OUT WHATS WRONG WITH IT. THEN I TAKE IT A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER CAUSE IT GETS WORSE. AT THIS POINT IT WONT GO OVER 2000 RPM I CANT DRIVE OVER 60MPH AND I CANT PUSH ON THE GAS WITHOUT IT SPUTTERING, AND STALLING. MIND U THIS IS A 2003. THEN I TAKE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. WHEN THEY FINALLY PUT IT IN AFTER 2 ENGINES THEY ORDERED THAT WAS WRONG IT STILL WASNT RUNNING RIGHT. SO THEY TOLD ME I MIGHT NEED A NEW THROTLE SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD CLEAN IT FIRST SO I DIDNT HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE. THAT HELPED BUT I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT AND THE DEDUCTIBLE FOR MY ENGINE. NOW I AM HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I'D RATHER JUST BLOW THIS BITCH UP. SORRY BUT I AM REALLY F*CKING PISSED OFF.
