Dodge Journey brake system is undersized for vehicle size and weight. Brake pads and rotors are needing full changeout after approx 25K miles. Vehicle has less than 60K miles on odometer, and brake system again must be repaired prematurely. I believe this is the reason Dodge increased the rotor size on 2011 models.

In June 2016 I took my car to bettehausen Dodge in tinley park, il. They did some repairs and since then the horn goes off by itself. The car can be parked with the motor off or you could be driving in traffic and the horn will blow. I took the car back to bettenhausen in August 2016 they did another computer update and the horn is still going off by itself. The horn was find until I took it to bettenhausen in June. Once they finished working on it they horn blows sporadically. Again in August 2016 I had my car towed to bettenhausen because the car broke down. Upon bettenhausen reviewing my car they stated it was the heater hose, a gasket and the anti freeze bottle had a hole in it. It cost me $582 for that repair. The service department also informed me that I needed front and rear motor mounts broken, front and rear struts blown out, front and rear brake pads and rotors warped and worn, right rear wheeling bearing excessive noise. These are major repairs and will cost major money. Why didn't bettenhausen inspect my car thoroughly in June when it was towed in" I think these things were wrong with the car in June but it was inspected by the service department. So I drove around for months with all this wrong with my vehicle. What if I couldn't stop, or a wheel fell off while I was driving the expressway" it was under warranty in June and now it is not and these are major safety hazzards.

Breaks have to be replaced at least every 2 months. My car continues to overheat and we have the thermostat 5 different times. We have to keep turning the key off and on til the car decides to start. I have contacted the people about this and they keep telling me that there is no recall for my VIN number. It needs to be added because it is obviously an issue with more than just my car. I will contact an attorney because now that it is out of warranty they tell me I will have to pay to have the issues resolved the start issue is of course stationary the break problem is while driving and so is the over heating issue was driving down the road heard a scraping noise and the front bumper was talking off and the bumper bar was loose. These are apparently very dangerous cars and all should be recalled

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. While pulling out of the driveway, the contact heard a squeaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the brake pad was replaced. In addition, the brake booster hydraulic system failed and needed to be replaced. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,883.

The vehicle has a 100000+ miles never realized that I would have to change the brakes nearly 30 times in that time frame almost 4 or 5 times a year they shake vibrate I replaced the rotors the calipers shoes and anything to do with brakes including booster and fluid checked the brake pedal and everything they seem to lock up and at once so hot it melted my drivers side hub cap off they locked up in the middle of the freeway and almost caused an accident I feel the breaks are too light for the weight of the vehicle the car is paid for and out of warranty and can't replace the amount of money I paid fixing but is there a recall" has anybody filed a lawsuit?has anybody got hurt injured or even lost there life to these breaks"

We purchased our Journey in 2010, as original owners. At about 10K miles we experienced slight shaking while applying breaks on the highway. We took our vehicle to Dodge service and they had to replace the rotors. We drive our car very conservatively and now in 2016 we have 36K miles. Our car started experiencing the same symptoms. We took the car to Dodge service, which confirmed extreme rotor wear and even commented that it was premature wear. I contacted Dodge and they refused to replace any parts. In addition, we recently (2016) are experiencing random horn honking. This is indeed a safety issue as proper horn function is a requirement for vehicle registration.

We cannot shift our car out of "park" while the car is on. Instead we have to take these steps: Insert keys into ignition, then slightly turn to the right (but not turning the car on) as the electric system turns on, then shift out of "park" and into "neutral, " and then while in "neutral" turn the car to the right until it turns on and is ready for driving, then shift into "drive, " all of this while my foot is on the "brake." Our esp & bas lights are on every minute the car is on, and above these is a lit up picture of a car w/ squiggly lines below it. We have taken the car to autozone, O'reilly's auto parts, interstate all battery center, and wal-mart, and had the car hooked up to their system that ready codes/errors and determines what is wrong with the car. Every single place could not get a reading that indicated any reason for the lights being on. In fact, all results kept coming back as, "no errors found." When we called to explain this to the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership, they could not tell us any reason as to why these light would be on, and advised that it would cost $100 to hook up to their error-reading system. I do not want to do this because I have already tried at several places. This is another way for the dealership to reel me in and try to scam money out of me and then when I don't have thousands to constantly drop on this piece of crap, they charge me the diagnostic fee and I leave with more problems than I came with. These dealerships are a scam, and because I'm female, they try to get me to pay for every repair possible, claiming they are critical repairs. We just bought this car last year, & we were not offered an extended warranty. I know why now. 1 month after driving it off the lot, problems began & thousands of dollars later, we still have non-stop problems. Our car is worth half of what we paid for it 1 yr ago. Now there's this!

When braking at speeds above 50 mph, there is a violent shake in the vehicle. Vehicle is only 5 years old, and now needs a third set of brake pads and rotors. This is a clear and well known problem with the 2009 and 2010 Journeys, yet the dealer (and Chrysler) refuses to acknowledge or fix it. When called Chrysler, I was told "they stand behind their dealership & the dealership says it's "normal wear and tear", so they will not authorize the repair". so basically, even though you are a loyal customer (one who has never bought anything by mopar), they don't care.

This is regards to recall R03 on a 2010 Dodge Journey. I have been a a recall list for many months. My vehicle twice now has shut off while driving for no reason. After having the car looked at and spending money I don't have, it was determined it was due to this recall. I have made calls to the dealer and to Chrysler. All I am told is these parts are on restriction and they are sorry but they can not help me to get this taken care of at this time. Why is Chrysler not concerned about the safety of it's drivers. If this had happened while my son was driving he could have been seriously injured or even killed. What will it take for them to get this taken care of? when I am able to afford another car it will not be a Chrysler product of any kind.

I have been having trouble with my brakes which has been replaced but still grinding noise and squeaky and rotors has been turned. The vehicle has cut off many times, sitting at the traffic light and as getting ready to go and as coming to a stop. It has also cut off as turning and once I realized it I had to try to restart it. It has at times door not unlock and not lock. As putting on brake to come to a stop it shakes. The lights are getting worse they are flickering on and off. Outside light goes out and whole dash goes off while driving. I have to keep flicking the lights as I'm driving so they can come back on. The vehicle has many times not start up and just click when trying to start it.

I bought my 2010 Dodge Journey new after an accident totaled out my previous vehicle. I am a single mom with one vehicle for our family of 4 and thought this would be a good safe vehicle for my family. Quite the opposite! I have spent so much money on this car for repairs, have had 2 recall issues (one of which left me and one of my daughters stranded on the side of the road at night), and have also had to replace the brakes, rotor, caliper, more times than I can remember. The last time was in Feb. And now my car has already recently started shaking again when I apply the brakes. I have only driven about 9,000 miles since replaced last. This is not a single incident but a repetitive safety issue. I cannot keep up with the extremely high amount of repairs and costs it takes to keep this vehicle safe to drive.

Received recall for brakes. I was charged $50 but brakes were replaces for free, so I was told. The rotors were reworked at that time also. Continued problems to this day. Brakes in front have been replaced 3 times and back brakes twice. Each time I took car back with complaints I was told I needed an alignment. Took auto to an out of state dealership and was told that the rotor was warped. I have heard rumors to the effect that there is a defect in the front suspension. The load is too heavy for base. Did Chrysler know this and still trying to sell a defective product? I would like to be compensated.

While driving my vehicle on a long distance road trip, which I do quite often, the steering wheel began to vibrate as I was decreasing the speed from 65 miles per hour. I have since had my tires replaced and the TPMS on one of my wheels became corroded. The problem still persisted. I had my back brakes replaced, the problem still persisted. I had my wheels aligned, the problem still persisted. My mechanic is currently replacing the axle along with my front brakes. Hopefully, this fixes the problem. My daughter is in college and my family and I will be making 8 hour road trips often. I am financially obligated to this vehicle and need it to service my families needs. Dodge needs to ensure that their vehicles are safe and reliable.

Brakes have been a major issue on this vehicle. We have had to replace brakes, rotors and calipers multiple times since the vehicle was purchased not to mention the tires also. The first time they were replaced, the car had less than 36,000 miles. Since that time they have been replaced multiple times, with the last time being in the last 30 days. It is like there is some type of design flaw in the braking system, that causes the brakes and tires to both wear out quickly. Last night the braking system caught fire on this vehicle, lucky I had just pulled in my parking spot when they started burning and didn't have my children with me. Fire department was notified and the fire was put out by them. I have noticed that I am not the only person with the Journey that has had brake and tire issues. Now I am stuck without any means of transportation thanks to the brakes catching fire (warping rims and melted tires from it). Thankfully no one was injured.

I have a 10 Dodge Journey AWD R/T, I am also a ase certified mechanic. My wife drives this thing easy.. no matter what brand of rotors or pads I use the problem comes back.. the problem I see is, the brakes are not up to par, basically to small for this vehicle.. the rotors should have been at least 1 to 1.5 inches larger in dia.
