I filled up the gas tank of my 2006 srt8 Dodge Magnum. I then pulled out of the gas station parking lot and the car died. The car died many more times the rest of this day. There were no warning lights on the dash. It acted as if there was vapor lock. It appears to be the same issue with gas getting into the evap canister, that so many other people are having with their LX Chrysler products of this year. After I burned off about four gallons of gas, this symptom stopped happening. This has happened a couple times this year when I filled the gas tank and the temperature is cooler. I do not top off. This is a hazardous situation.

After filling up at the gas station, I was attempting to get back on the freeway when the car stalled at the stop sign. I received help in pushing the car out of the busy intersection. Due to the instrument panel warning lights I checked the oil levels and if the gas cap was secured properly. Both were fine and I was able to start the car and drive to the on-ramp of the freeway when it stalled again. I was barely able to coast to the side of the busy on-ramp and was a hazard to the many semi trucks making the turn onto the freeway. After waiting for almost an hour for the car to cool I checked the oil again. It was full and fresh after being serviced recently. A chp officer spotted me on the ramp and I informed him of which panel lights lit up and the what the manual suggested. He wanted to check if I had oil pressure and suggested I attempt to turn it on. Indeed the pressure was fine but the car had a rough idle, sputtered and died again. After turning it over again there was a strong smell of fuel, I tried revving the engine. It died again. The chp officer and I agreed it was a fuel problem and informed me it would be cheaper if I called a tow truck than if he did and said he would be back to check on me. I was able to get the car running long enough to back off the on-ramp and into a parking lot. It died two more times. After getting it started again I revved the engine until it idled properly and went home. While researching the problem on lxforums.com I became aware of a faulty gas tank issue which was the cause. While I'm grateful I was driving slowly when this happened it was still a safety hazard to myself and others to have a car die so suddenly. Apparently, Chrysler is aware of this problem and I will be submitting this issue to them as well. On lxforums.com a surprising number of vehicles have this same problem. Thank you for your time.

Sudden engine stall few miles after fuel charge. These problems happened several months ago, and becoming more frequent almost every fuel charge. When engine stalled, it's difficult to restart. One incident was the sudden engine stall during driving causes me to panic due to losing power assist of steering and brakes, and almost hit side walk at my neighborhood. Asked dealership to see what was wrong, and they made some repairs to the fuel injection, and egr valve. But the problem was not fixed. It's very dangerous.

Vehicle stalling after fuel fill-up. The temporary fix of not "topping off" the tank worked for a few months. The problem is happening more frequently however, regardless of the fuel level. Car shutting off/losing power randomly is a severe safety hazard.

I filled the gas tank up, got in car and when I was merging on freeway car jerked several times and died. I was almost hit by multiple cars. Got car into neutral was able to restart but it died several more times. Now every time I fill it up the car dies in traffic at speed. I am afraid to drive it. The dealer says it is a faulty fuel tank but will not warranty the repair. I have done research and have found several forums with many people having this same issue with the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300. This is a safety issue and could get somebody killed if it hasn't already.

I had stopped in the waco, tx area to fill up with gas on my way to italy, tx. I filled my vehicle up with gas, started it, and was entering in some gps coordinates when the car shuddered and died. This was the first time it happened. Since then it has probably happened 18-24 times, always immediately following a fill up at the gas station. Sometimes it dies in traffic, other times the engine will surge as if I had touched the accelerator pedal while sitting at a red light.

Immediately after filling gas tank with new fuel the following has happened several times: The car will start at the gas station but shortly after leaving the gas station (within a block or when getting back onto the highway from a rest stop) the car will stall. The stall can happen at a traffic light or even on the way to reaching highway speeds. At this time my solution to the problem has been to rev the engine in neutral for a bit after getting the gas tank filled with fresh gasoline.

After refueling and filling up the tank, the car will shutdown under braking, cornering or at a stop. This happened so frequently I no longer fill the tank and stop at 3/4. there are several instances reported both here and in Canada on the car forums. The fix has been either replacing the tank and/or the evap valve and pump.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred three times. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive to the dealer for diagnosis, where it was advised that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

Failed fuel tank control valve has caused the gas to contaminate the vapor canister and purge valve. After every fill up when I pull out into traffic the car will die out in front of on coming cars.
