Death shake! I was driving on highway, @ 65 mph hit brake in bridge, truck shook uncontrollably had to slow down and pull over to get it to stop, it caused me to shake myself, if it doesn't kill me, I may have a heart attack that's how scary it is ! which alot of you out there already know. Dodge needs to address this immediately! what's worse is my son was in the truck and there was a semi behind me, its amazing how we weren't rammed by the semi! I bought this truck to haul horses, that wont happen until this problem is fixed! so therefore it defeats the purpose of buying this quite expensive truck!

Today while pulling into a parking stall I had a catastrophic steering failure. The drivers side steering tie rod stud fractured where it bolts into the knuckle. The tie rod dropped between the tire and suspension causing loss of steering control and the left wheel was no longer connected to the linkage. I searched several Dodge enthusiast forums and it seems other owners have experienced similar failures. This truck was serviced approx 2 years ago at a local Dodge dealership and the entire steering linkage was replaced because of loose and knocking steering when turning. The incident today required me to have the truck towed to my residence pending research and possible repair. This vehicle has not been involved in any situation where the steering linkage would have been damaged. I inspected the broken stud and it appears to have had a catastrophic failure of the metal. Any direction or assistance would be appreciated.

Right outer tie rod end fell apart causing loss of steering. Vehicle pulled hard left however I was able to safely stop without hitting anything. The truck did not show any early warnings and had regular preventive maintenance. I did keep the failed part and that of my fathers, which failed about 5 weeks after mine. That makes a 100% failure rate of the same part on our two trucks which is very disturbing! as soon as we are able we are going to replace all factory tie rod ends on these trucks. Our Dodge dealer had inspected the left side of this truck in July and said it was safe.

Power steering hose developed a leak where it rubbed on the frame/body and the power steering gearbox developed a leak at the output shaft. This allowed all the fluid to leak out loosing power steering. Not knowing you had lost the assist until you tried to turn could cause you to run off the road or hit another vehicle. Also the fluid actuates the brake booster causing you to loose brake assist which makes it difficult to stop as it is very hard to overcome the forces of the hydraulic booster holding the brake pedal which could cause an accident. The repair shop had a hard time finding a hose as it is a dealer item and they didn't stock it. They had a hard time finding a gearbox also but finally found a remanufactured one. New ones were not available.

We have replaced two steering gear boxes on this 2007 Dodge Ram 3500.we called several Dodge dealers for a replacement box but they said that they are back- ordered and would be a three week wait if they can even get one since they have about 1,013 on back orders as of yesterday.we were informed that this gear box is the same one that is used on the Mercedes Benz automobiles.now there is alot of difference between a car and a very heavy duty 1 ton truck.they really didnt think this one out, it is a real safty problem.my husband was turning from the highway to the side street when it broke, this was the second one we put on it only had 213 miles on it.Dodge must be aware of it as the dealers have told us it is a problem he had to wait for traffic to let him make a wide turn onto the oncoming lane of traffic.we have a 2003 Dodge Ram pu with the same gear box and I drive it all the time and now I am thinking if this would happen to me I do not think I could have the strenght to avoid a serious problem, on the open highway it would be horrible.this is the vehicle I use to Transport our severly handicapped son now I am concerned for our safty as well as others with these trucks please look into this problem thank-you.

The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure and advised that numerous factors could have contributed to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 75,700.

I lost control of my vehicle and nearly crashed. This is the third time this has happened. It seemed as if a tire had blown, but that was not the case. I now am told that the tie rods need to be replaced. Dodge and two independent mechanics have told me it is due to "failed tie rods" not connected with Chrysler's notification code H46. Dodge should issue a recall notice on this issue, as it appears to have happened to many others many times, and someone is going to be seriously injured or killed. It is referred to as the Dodge death wobble.

Death wobble 2007 Dodge 3500 75,000 miles have replaced everything.

While driving at highway speeds (65mph or greater) my 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 will suddenly begin to shake violently after an uneven surface in the road is struck. This has happened several times over the course of the past 2 years. The only "fix" action is to slow the vehicle by releasing the gas pedal and applying the brake. I have taken the vehicle into the dealer to have it inspected for a safety recall involving the steering and was told there was nothing wrong. I took the vehicle into a second dealership after this last episode of "death wobble" and was told that the tie rods, and steering dampening shock needed to be replaced. The vehicle is still under warranty and the dealership is in the process of ordering the parts to replace the tie rods and steering dampening shock. For information purpose, the vehicle is located in germany and is driven on autobahn's with highway speeds greater than the U.S.

I purchased a new 2007 Dodge 3500, that started to fail in many areas of the vehicle, before the 10,000 mile mark. Freedom Dodge here in lexington Kentucky deliberately executed insurance fraud to blame clutch failure on a minor collision that never busted a light, radiator, etc. And was able to drive after collision. Before the accident I noticed clutch slipping, truck tires began to wear at an extreme rate, and vibrations was becoming an increasing problem. I then took the truck to freedom Dodge where they blamed all on minor collision, in which I turned to geico for reimbursement. Geico fought Dodge on this issue, then freedom Dodge went back on their previous documentation and blamed the failures on me, and documented that. I have documents of them going back on their previous documentation. I have all documentation to support all, while paying a high payment for this so called "heavy duty" truck, I was forced to make repairs or give back. After replacing clutch that cost me over $1600 the other problems visibly arising was to much to take from my family to pay for. This truck and the voluntary repo process has destroyed my good credit that I have worked so hard to perfect. Thanks to Dodge/Chrysler my family now suffers from my purchase from freedom Dodge. The deliberately falsified company documents to make financial gain, and continue to sell these vehicles to others, knowing from many others these trucks are junk. The motor is built by cummins, never had a problem from motor, but all parts behind trucks are junk and designed for failure, to increase sales in their service dept. My family has dearly paid for my choice to by a Dodge. Due to the many recalls, the last one being with rack & pinion, resulting in spontaneous crash, I would not allow my family to ride in this truck out of fear for their lives. My wife was furious, because I was forced to drive such an unsafe and failed vehicle. They ruined my life and our credit, we deserve comp.

Vehicle begins shaking violently cause loss of control. I have to come to a complete stop to regain control of the vehicle. No mechanics or Dodge service centers know what is causing the problem. I have spent over $2000 to have things replaced and problem has not been fixed. This is a very dangerous problem. I have searched the internet for solutions. All I have found are other people with this problem an no one knows how to fix it!

I have had a 03 Ram 2500, 04 Ram 3500, and 07 Ram 3500. I have experienced a death wobble numerous times with each vehicle at all highway speeds after hitting pot holes and bumps. It violently shakes the whole truck until you reduce the speed to 30-40 mph. It feels like the truck will lose control and shake off the road. I have heard numerous complaints and feel this issue needs to be addressed by Chrysler before someone gets hurt or killed. I have taken each truck into the dealership three times to be looked at and they said nothing was wrong with it.

2007 Dodge 3500 4WD 4 door aprox. 101,800 highway miles.no warning no previous condition truck drove fine greased at factory interval's or sooner. Small upset in pavement. Left tie rod end came apart at 70 mph with driver and 3 children on board. Hwy.31 East of dawson Texas.got truck stopped with out incident with out steering. Hammered tie rod back together to get on trailer and had truck trailered to berry Chrysler.they said there was a recall on the steering linkage but this was the approved linkage and no farther action needed. They told me to contact you to complain because they knew a recall was needed but Chrysler would not listen to them. To fix the truck they replaced the whole steering system. A total redesign changing geometry and much larger tie rods, ends and steering arm all at customer expense! I do have the old parts. It was only by the grace of god that I stopped the truck without accident or injury. No warning no steering this is a major problem!! people will die over this one. Many trucks are in line for this problem to start happening. Please stop this problem now before people die. Thank you consumer is correcting information. Updated 11/12/09.
