I was just driving down the road and heard a loud noise and days later started smelling gas and looked underneath the vehicle only to discover that the gas tank split and started leaking.....contacted Ford Motor Company and they refuse to fix it or recall it. I can't afford to get a new tank that cost $2,300 and Ford recalled the 2008 models for this reason but refused to recall the 2007 models....I am very angry because as it is I am getting about 10 mile to the gallon on gas and only able to put about 4 gallons in the tank at a time and drive around every day worrying if I would ever get into an accident god forbid I would maybe blow up because of the leaking gas tank on this vehicle...

Gas tank seal corroded. Mechanic was inspecting car when he found that besides the transmission transfer case needed to be replaced, the gas tank was leaking gas. It appears the seal is corroded. I was told that the new tank was approximately 1500. (just the part) and about 600. In labor. I feel that this should be repaired free of charge by Ford, this should not happen on a vehicle that is only 6 years old. I can only put about 5 gallons of gas in, not to exceed just under the half tank mark. Also, cannot park car on anything but a level surface.

2007 Ford Edge has a gas tank leak problem. Notice a strong gas smell around vehicle and took it to a Ford dealer. Mechanic founded gas leaking from the gas tank (unsafe to drive, potential fire hazard).

After driving the vehicle for approximately 80 miles one Saturday morning, my wife parked in the garage as usual. I entered the garage after the car sat for about an hour and detected the smell of gasoline. Proceeded to inspect the vehicle and determined that the smell was coming from engine compartment. I continued to investigate the source and eventually found what appeared to be fuel seeping from the fuel rail, also known as the fuel supply manifold. I concluded that the fuel was leaking in the area of the test port which is connected to the rail. I could tell that fuel was leaking at the point where the test port is connected to the rail. I had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealer, and I was told that the fuel rail port was not repairable and a new fuel rail was required. This was a dangerous situation as gasoline could have leaked out onto very hot engine parts and potentially cause a fire.

For a few weeks there was a strong gas smell all around the Ford Edge. Brought it in to be looked at. They were stumped, the gas tank was not leaking, there was no damage to it nor any rust of any kind yet they also could smell the gas. After time, they found that gas was seeping through the seams of the tank. Called multiple Ford dealerships and they said they have been seeing quite a bit of this on Edges and have repaired 4 within the past month in our area. They informed us how extremely dangerous it was to continue driving the car, if we were in an accident or if anyone threw a lit cigarette, the car could explode. Very unsafe. We called Ford because we saw many recalls on newer models for the same thing. They denied the claim for the 07 model. We got it repaired for $1700 at a Ford dealership. They are not offering a reimbursement for a malfunctioning part and a very dangerous situation.

A strong odor of gasoline was detected around the vehicle. Mechanic investigated. Gas tank had rusted through. Gasoline was leaking. According to different blogs, this is an issue that many other owners have had with 2007 Ford Edge. Replacement of tank is outrageously expensive. Ford does not have a recall nor a bulletin on the problem and give not more than an apology for the inconvenience.

Vehicle filled with fuel and parked in garage, noticed fuel smell, found fuel leaking on ground, inspected by Ford technician, found fuel tank leaking at left rear corner of fuel tank.

I have been smelling a slight fuel odor, looked at vehicle but could not trace down location of smell. Odor would come and go, this has been a problem for a few months. Wife left for work and there was a strong odor of gas, when she backed out of garage there was a puddle of gas about the size of 1 foot by 2 foot on the floor. When she returned home that night I noticed a steady drip of fuel dripping on the ground. I located the leak coming from the seam of the fuel tank, she had filled up the day before, and now the tank was wet with fuel. This vehicle is only 6 years old and should not have a problem like this. I have owned many vehicles over the years and never have had a fuel tank issue like this, so I believe this is a major defect of the tank and should be looked into. My Edge is parked in a attached garage where my electrical room, furnace, and water heater is located in the same lower lever. Obviously I am parking outside now. My concern is the fire hazard with water heater ignition source to my house and vehicle. This issue needs to be addressed by Ford, I know that I am not the only person having this problem. Hopefully a recall can be issued to correct this issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted fuel fumes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that due to a fuel leak, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 109,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.

Found door seal on 3 door bad, found very light to just primer and clear coat paint on all door jams, some hinges. Newest is a safety item. While pumping gas after the first click gas shot out of the filler neck. Happened a second time and gas soaked my wife's cloths. Then the tank cap light came on. Seams like the tank is not venting and as you fill the tank with gasoline air has to escape and pushes out gas with it. Dealer not sure what would cause this. Dealer is replacing filler neck. Dealer has replaced seals and repainted all areas were just primer. I have called Ford and they replied with it is not a Ford problem it is the dealers responsibility to look the vehicle over and have 30 days to send it back. I have been to the dealer 7 times. I think Ford need to take responsibility for this. I have driven 700 miles back and forth for warranty work. This vehicle only has 2700 miles on it and is a little over 2 months old.
