The door latch switch is faulty and the door ajar light will not go out on the instrument panel. Apparently Ford refuses to recall the product. I believe this could lead to a dangerous situation if the door is really ajar and the door could open, drain the battery and when the door switch is malfunctioning, it states that the door is ajar and the doors will not lock.

Driver door ajar warning light remains on when door is securely closed. Overhead dome light remains on and doors will not lock while car is in motion. Safety hazard with inability to have doors locked while car is in motion. Excessive wear on the car battery (recently replaced) with overhead dome lights remaining illuminated for 3 minutes after car is in motion and 10 minutes after while car is turned off. While the issue of the door ajar alarm continues to be on and door latch is defective the car alarm randomly goes off without door manipulation. Car alarm has gone off up to 3 times in a day and occurs 4-5 days per week causing disruption in the neighborhood. Many complaints have been posted online regarding this issue of a defective door latch that warrants a recall on Ford's behalf due to potential safety concerns. Children could open the door of the backseat while the car is in motion due to the inability to lock the doors.

Drivers side door latch mechanism is defective. After closing the door the sensor which detects the door being shut is not activated properly. The instrument panel indicates that the door is ajar. The interior lights stay on until the vehicle is in motion. Most seriously however is that while this problem is occurring, the vehicle doors cannot be locked. None of them. A child in the back seat could easily open the doors while the car was in motion. Even if the driver pushes the door lock button to engage all 4 door locks, they pop right back open after a few seconds. The remote will also not activate the security system when you are outside the vehicle. The horn chirps twice indicating that the doors are ajar.

The door latch sensor malfunctions causing the instrument panel to announce that the door is ajar even though all four doors are locked correctly. If you cannot make the message go away by reopening and shutting the door, then the doors will not lock once the vehicle is in motion and the dome lights will remain illuminated. Also, the biggest danger is that the latch can malfunction while driving causing the doors locks to unlock while driving at high rates of speed. This is concerning given that my son rides in the back seat.

The door ajar light has been coming off and on even when the door is shut. Sometimes 5-10 closings will shut the door ajar light off. Most of the time my door ajar light stays on. Which keeps my interior lights on at nighttime. Also not sure my car locks completely as the car honks twice quickly when I try to lock using the wireless locking device. Very frustrating, and for the money they charge for Ford cars, don't think this should be a problem. Have searched the internet and found out this is a common problem that can cost up to $300 at dealerships to fix, and cheapest I have found is $85 to buy part from Ford and try to fix it myself.

The drivers door indication is that it is "ajar". the door is fully closed, but electrically the switch indicates that the door is ajar causing the doors to remain unlocked no matter what you do. The interior lights remain on at low speeds making it difficult to see out of the vehicle at night. And due to the doors being unlocked, the rear doors can be opened by children while the vehicle is in motion. The doors are not locked making it easy for someone to approach and open your doors. This situation is extremely concerning. My vehicle was fixed once at 42K miles and is now in need of repair again. In addition to this being a safety issue it is also not covered by the manufacturer and is over $300 per repair.

Driver side door latch is not recognizing that the door is shut. Keeps saying door is ajar when it is clearly closed. As a result, I have to disconnect my battery every time I exit the vehicle to keep my battery from dying since the interior light stays on. When driving, the car door does not lock, the interior light stays on and the warning indicator incessantly beeps. Also, the AWD went out on the vehicle in the middle of heavy traffic, causing me to have to stop in the middle of the road because I obviously couldn't accelerate. This has happened multiple times. I took the vehicle to Ford 3 weeks ago and they stated they couldn't find anything wrong with the car, however, not even a week later, it did it again. I, two days ago, had my car towed to the same Ford dealership, where they are now replacing the throttle body. I have a 14 month old child, and the 4 times this has happened, he has been in the car. I have read online that I am not the only one this has happened to, yet there are no recalls for this make and model. Disappointed and irritated!

2011 Ford Edge, I am the first owner and bought this car new. At approx 2000 miles after the 36K mile warranty expired the drivers door latch switch is messed up. The door will be shutand the system still shows it ajar which causes the interior light to stay on for 5 plus minutes. Even while driving the door closed and no warnings the switch will malfunction at night and cause the interior (white) lights to come on. This is a hazzard at night (safety)!!!! I have contacted the local Ford and they give me the run around and do not want to cover their defect!! there are more than 7 documented cases on here and even my service advisor said that these year and model are notorius for this problem but Ford does not cover! service manager said he has never heard of it (bs). Bottom line.... if you will not cover your product I will not buy your cheap product!! looks like Toyota will get my business from now on since they cover their product !! this is a safety issue especially for night driving and battery life (stranded on road).

My door locks on the driver's side of my 2011 Ford Edge limited model are malfunctioning. When you try to unlock the door either with the touch door sensors or the remote, the locks sounds like a machine gun. Also, sometimes the door will not lock. When Ford went in to replace the locking mechanism, they found out my driver's side window is starting to crack from the bottom up, so they have had my car at least a week now waiting on the glass, which is apparently an issue that is occurring on all of these Ford Edge vehicles.
