Engine failed while traveling at 60 mph (in cruise control) on interstate highway. Dealer diagnosed problem as seized engine. Failure was sudden and without warning.

I put the vehicle in "park" and it started right up. Dealer has no explaination for loss of power, but several other Ford excapes have experenced the same problem. Due to the number of reported excapes stalling I am afraid to drive mine in heavy traffic.

I lost all power steering and power brakes. I was able to make it to the side of the road. The car was towed and when dealer looked at it was "locked up" the engine was replaced.

This vehicle is the replacement to 2001 Escape that stalled 4 times while coasting. Dealer replaced fuel pump, electronic engine control (eec) relay on separate occasions. Vehicle still stalled. Dealership very "pro-active" and willing to assist by offering rental car while testing both vehicles.
