A reoccurring soft brake pedal issue. Seems to occur after and hard braking incident where the ABS is engaged. After a few days to a week the pedal travel and feel returns to normal. This has been a continual problem with the vehicle for the last two years that we have owned it.

Vehicle was in motion, getting ready to stop at the end of my driveway when the brakes barely braked, and I had to push the pedal all the way to the floor to make a complete stop. It's like that all the time now. Took it to a mechanic who replaced the brake master cylinder. Did not fix the problem. Mechanic said it's the ABS system and that he sees that problem with a lot of Ford.

My 2008 Ford Escape hybrid would not stop with both feet pushing to the floor. Check brake system and regen brake disabled as my car hit the car in front of me. This could have been much worse for both me and the vehicle in front of me. I'm also a biker and I could have killed someone on a bike or a pedestrian. This is very scary and the fact that I was unaware this is a known issue, I had no idea what just happened and why. I have four Ford and now I'm concerned to drive them.

When the vehicle was started, there was an unusual motor-like sound for a second-or-so coming from the front of the vehicle. The ABS light and the parking brake light came on even though the parking brake was not engaged. The brake pedal had a spongy feel and the brakes were very ineffective. Applying the brakes caused the right-front corner of the vehicle to dive. Heavy application of the brakes caused the right-front tire to skid. It appeared that only the right-front brakes were working. When the vehicle was turned off, a high-pitched noise continued to come from the engine compartment. After turning the ignition on and off a few times, the high-pitched sound had ceased. After that, a driving test showed that the brakes had returned to working normally. This entire scenario has occurred multiple times.

Without any warning the ABS and traction control lights came on the dash and the car acted like it was sliding on ice and the ABS system was working on clear roadway. When trying to take back off after stopping the car it felt like the car lost power. Shut the car down and it started working correctly, but it is an intermittent problem, and has happened three more times since it first happened the day before. Just test driving the car in the neighborhood the ABS system feels like it is engaging on clear roads.

Warning icon appears on dash for ABS. Message says "check brake system", then "regen braking disabled". brakes are very ineffective, requires lots of pressure to stop. Increase in electronics clicks from under the hood when starting the car. There is also a continuous high pitched noise from under the hood, like an electronic alarm at very low volume. After topping off brake fluid, problem went away for a few weeks, but it showed up again when I started the car tonight.

Daughter was driving home from her teaching position in marshalltown ia to ankeny ia. She called me frantic because her brakes failed. Pedal went all the way to the floor and the car would not stop called a tow truck and the vehicle went to tires plus in ankeny. They recommended an ABS brake bleed per some tsps they received from Ford. While waiting for the tow...my daughter started her car several times and the brakes recovered. By the time the tow truck arrived the brakes were working fine. This happened in Dec 2016 as well

I was dropping my child off at school. I put my vehicle in park and when I pulled out and went to use my brake the pedal went to the floor and the pedal vibrated like ABS was engaged. I was able to stop but it was very slowly. I was going under 10 mph.when I started to drive again my ABS and traction control lights came on and you could hear the sound of the traction control being engaged. I had to stop two more times on my way home and was able to do so by driving only 5 mph with my four ways on. The traction control sound was intermittent and the vehicle would not accelerate properly. The brake pedal continued to go to the floor and vibrate. The brakes continued to not work properly and make sounds. I was only 1 mile from home and was able to get home without an accident. This happened in a residential area while I was making a short trip under 3 miles both ways. It happened right after I put the vehicle in drive and pulled out. After doing some reasearch this appears to be a common problem with the hydraulic braking system. I was very lucky that I was not involved in accident and that I was driving slow at the time. I just dropped my child off at school. Had this occurred at another time we could have been seriously injured or killed as well as anyone else that may have been involved. I have called the Ford dealership today to have my vehicle looked at and am waiting to hear back from them. Since this is a common and serious problem I feel that Ford should take responsibility and issue a recall on this before someone is killed.

My AWD 2008 Ford Escape hybridv, with around 64,000 miles, started having braking problems, when the brake and ABS cluster lights turned on when the car started. When I shift into any gear, the "regen brake disabled" warning comes on. I tried to revers at 5 mph and the car would barely brake. I was able to brake, but the brakes were spongy, veering to the left slightly. I went to a local auto shop and they scanned for any error codes. I received the following: C1524 brake pedal sensor cal. Incomplete, C1480 R/F brake pressure control malf., C1313 brake hydraulic press. Transducer malf., P0685 eng. Control module power relay control, and U0418 invalid data rcvd from control module. My cousin was able to clear the codes to see if we restarted the car and deove around if the same errors would pop back up and they did. I have read online where thousands, if not more, were having the same hydraulic/braking problems that could cost upwards of $5000 to fix. Some even reported that replacing the master cylinder didnt fix the problem. I have personally had two occassions where my car would barely stop no matter how hard I pressed down on the brake pedal. Also, when my vehicle is turned off, with the key taken out, the right front brake module or censor is emitting a high-pitched hum for several minutes when nothing is turned on. Please investigate this issue further as it seems like a very common issue with similar year model hybrids.

When trying to brake the brake petal goes all the way to the floor. Took my vehicle in for service and repair. After spending hundreds of dollars for a new master cylinder, rotors, calibers, brake pads bleeding if the brakes multiple times we were then told that the ABS module had two valves stuck in the open position. This part should last the lifetime of the car and there have been several complaints to Ford about this safety issue with this make and module. Ford needs a to do he right thing and do a recall on their ABS module.
