I own a 2008 Ford Escape. For the past few months my gas pedal has been sticking and it makes it hard to accelerate. When pulling out into intersections the pedal will get stuck and I can't accelerate. After reading up on this apparently this is becoming a common problem among other Escapes and they need to be recalled.

Gas pedal intermittently would not go down, sometimes in heavy traffic. Finally the pedal stuck so much that I took it in for repair and they replaced the throttle. This is very dangerous to not be able to accelerate when in heavy highway traffic. I noticed that other Escape owners have documented the same problem.

My wife was driving our 2008 Ford Escape XLT when the accelerator became hard to press. She attempted to vary the amount of pressure on the accelerator but it was still hard to press. She then pressed harder on the accelerator and it dropped to the fire wall and did not return to its normal position. She was able to safely pull off of the highway without incident. I came out to the location where she was, I got into the car and I had to use the tip of my shoe several times to pull the accelerator up before it would stay in its normal position. I was able to get the accelerator to work normally after this. This particular problem has occurred one other time while driving. However, a similar problem to this occurs several times while driving. When the accelerator becomes hard to press I tap on the accelerator (before applying normal press) and I am able to accelerate normally.

Gas pedal gets stuck and will not go. Happens every morning, the gas pedal gets locked and has to be pushed with extreme force in order for the car to go. This started in December and happens every day.

My gas pedal on my 2008 Escape was sticking in cold weather. It kept getting worse. I had too really push hard on it to free it up. If in gear it accelerated very fast or in neutral it revved engine very fast. I considered it unsafe so I took it in for repair. I had to replace the throttle assembly at my cost. Are their any other complaints of this nature. Ford dealer kept part. I under stand Ford is replacing a lot of these. This is a very unsafe condition.

Recently purchased a 2008 Ford Escape with 42000 miles. While driving on the expressway at 70mph I heard a loud snap, and the accelerator pedal fell to the floor. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the expressway and towed to a repair facility. Upon inspection, it was found the accelerator cable had failed, with the cable itself snapping at a point approx. 1/8 inch from the end at the pedal.

I was accelerating on a freeway on ramp and suddenly my gas pedal was not there - it was limp. I called for a tow and it is now at the dealer. They say the throttle body is sticking and the cable is broken. This happened right before rush hour and luckily I coasted to the side of the road out of the traffic when this happened or I could have easily been killed.

My 2008 Ford Escape was purchased on December 31, 2007 on May 22, 2008, while traveling on the expressway the throttle cable snapped and the gas petal would not function. I was going 65 mph and this put me in a very dangerous position. The car immediately stopped accelerating and had to be pushed into the emergency lane. I was towed to the dealership. There I was told they did not know what the problem was. On August 13, 2008, I exited from the expressway, pulled into a parking lot and the throttle cable snapped again. I was unable to operate the vehicle and had to be towed to the dealership. Again, I was told we do not know why this happened. I new cable was installed. On March 3, 2009, while driving 65 mph on the expressway the throttle cable snapped again. I was unable to accelerate and had to be towed. This was the most dangerous situation, I went from 65 mph to nothing during intense rush hour traffic. I had to be towed to the dealership and again was told we do not understand why this is happening.
