Vehicle suddenly started decelerating at a rapid pace. I was driving 60 mph, and the gas pedal suddenly seemed to stop sending gas to the engine. I had to pull over and coast to a stop. This was not covered by my lifetime warranty and is going to cost me over $600 in towing, parts and labor.

I was driving on the freeway going 70 mph. The gas pedal suddenly went all the way to the floor but the car was getting no power. Luckily the freeway was not crowded and we were able to coast to the side of the freeway. I turned the car off and restarted it and the pedal seemed to be working. But 30 miles later it happened again. I brought the car to the Ford dealership where they said the problem was the throttle body. The part is on back order for 3 weeks.

Due to throttle body failure at highway speed, engine became unresponsive to attempts to keep speed. Engine did idle providing power steering and brake operation. Engine was successfully restarted and vehicle taken to dealer shop. On way to shop, failure occurred on busy 4 lane street at 45 mph. Getting to shoulder was awkward but successful. Parts took 11 days to get to dealer service.

While driving on I55 in Chicago going 60 mph the gas peddle went soft. There was no accretion, I was force to move to the shoulder. I turned the car off and then on and it ran fine for 20 miles then the same thing happened again, and then again. I was able to get my vehicle to the Ford dealer who told me it was the throttle body and it would take 2 weeks to have a replacement part.

Electronic throttle body failure - 2009 Ford Escape [xxx] first time: Driving 35 mph and all of a sudden nothing...no power, no acceleration. Luckily I was not rear ended when the vehicle lost power. I had to coast into a parking lot, shut off the truck for 5 minutes, restart and drove home which was less than 1 mile away. Next day ran okay, next day no power, no acceleration. Took to dealer on June 7, 2013 and they did a diagnostic test and gas fuel induction flush because the electronic throttle body part was unavailable for replacement. Second/third time: Leaving for vacation. Got about 5 miles from home and nothing, no power, no acceleration. Coasted into a parking lot and the car lurched...luckily I had my foot on the brake. Took vehicle to dealer and the truck is still there because they do not have the part to fix it. It has been parked at the dealership waiting for the electronic throttle body part to fix the issue for over a week. So far I have spend $278.37 for a diagnostic test and gas fuel induction flush and still have an unsafe vehicle due to an electronic throttle body failure. I had gone of the gas, the vehicle was rolling at about 5miles/H, engine running, towards an intersection when the light turned green and I wanted to accelerate. I stepped on the gas, there was no acceleration, the engine stalled and completely shut off. All engine lights came on similar to when you initially insert the key before starting the car. The Escape came to a complete stop at the side of the road. There were no warning lights present, the vehicle was not overheating, it had been serviced and had no prior issues. After putting it back into park I was then able to restart the vehicle without any issues and continue driving. This first happened in January and has since occurred twice again in similar situations, slow rolling and then stalling after an attempt to accelerate.

Wife was coming home form work; she was in the parking, suddenly the power train light came on and the car surged then had no power, pressing gas peddle did nothing, she thought the car stalled and could not restart it. After a few minutes of waiting she started it back up and the throttle responded, so she continued to pick up our kids. Once she was on the road traveling approximately 40 mph the exact same thing happened again. Her father was following her, and after a few minutes of waiting, they where able to restart and continue the drive. Her father drove the car the rest of the distance and, the problem happened again. Fortunately in all 3 situations they where able to pull over and off the road. Car has been in the shop since Thursday of last week awaiting for a new electronic throttle body which apparently is on major back order. Attempted to contact our Ford dealer but was greeted with less then friendly customer service from the service center. Car is out of warranty, and repair is going to be over $325 (quoted) if our repair shop can get the part. My wife and myself are very concerned about this as the problem happened once before several months ago, and happened on a very busy street, fortunately no one rear ended her. At that time we had Ford tow the car to their service center and inspect the car, they claimed there was no problems found and no service codes, and returned the car back to us as is.

P2111 error per computer - throttle actuator stuck open. Vehicle will not accelerate and engine shakes violently, feels like it wants to stall, but does not. Needs to be shut off and restarted to accelerate again. Problem has now happened 6 times in the last 2 days.

Approximately one month ago, while slowing to make a right-hand turn, the vehicle seemed to lose all power; no acceleration, etc. I managed to get on the side of the road, put the vehicle in park, and turned the engine off. When I restarted the engine, everything seemed fine. About 2 weeks later when pulling out onto a main highway, the same thing happened, except this time the "wrench" light came on, and the vehicle started lurching and shaking extremely hard. Again, I got to the side of the road (fortunately no volume of traffic), put vehicle in park, turned engine off, and restarted - wrench light gone and all seemed ok. Two days ago, same thing happened 4 times within a two mile trip, again fortunately no traffic volume. I had the vehicle towed to the local dealership, and no surprise it was the throttle body, which was replaced at my expense. I see this problem is widespread, and potentially very dangerous. Ford should be required to issue a recall before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.

When driving my car. It constantly will cut off while driving. It also to jerk forward after it is put into drive from a parked position. I have taken it in to sunrise Ford dealership on numerous occasions over 6 months. And every time they will not fix it and say that it does not do that when they test drive it. After researching this more, I have noticed that I am not the only person. I just want my car fix. I have a toddler and it is very dangerous to drive especially on the freeway knowing that my car could stop at any moment. Please help.

Electronic throttle body circuit board failed (Ford mechanic's diagnosis) while approaching a traffic light. Car had been having constant speed surges while driving in 3-4 gear powerband and was serviced. Everything seemed fine until a couple of weeks later when the throttle became unresponsive. Ford is replacing the TB assembly with what I fear is the exact same part; week and a half wait for the part, no loner car, no warranty coverage.

On 10/19/2013 after picking up my car for the 3rd time at Ford for transmission problems I was driving on the interstate at approximately 55mph, vehicle lost power, all the lights on the dash turned on including a wrench symbol. I took it to back to the Ford dealer where they kept it and stated it was repaired, the second incident was on 06/10/2013 where I was almost involved in a terrible accident because it happened again while I was on the interstate at a speed of 55mph. The vehicles behind me where not aware I had lost power causing a back up until I was able to get the car to the side of the road. Ford says its a throttle problem which is now not covered because I am now over 60K miles, therefore I have to pay to get it fixed.

We were driving to biloxi mi to the va clinic from pace fl and when we arrived at the va clinic on Sunday to get our hotel our car started hesitating. When we left to go to the hotel we was going about 40 coming up to a red light and my wife lost the throttle and a wrench showed on the dash. We had no gas pedal so I told her to let it coast to the side of the road and turn it off. It cranked up went a mile and done the same thing so here we are stuck in Mississippi with no car.

This has happened to me on 8 occasions in rapid succession. In all instances, I am driving along as usual, and all of a sudden, my accelerator becomes non-responsive. The car is still running, but I am quickly losing speed, I cannot accelerate, and the engine does not rev when I press on the accelerator. I must stop the car, put it in park, turn it off, and restart the car in order to "fix" the problem and continue driving. Simply putting the car in neutral, turning it off and restarting it will not remedy the situation.

I accelerated from a stopped position and in approximately 100 feet the accelerator stop working. The engine did not die but the vehicle would only idle at a slow pace. I stopped the car, put in park, turned off the engine and then restarted. The accelerator worked at that time and I continued onto the highway with no problem. I was traveling at 75 mph for about 10 miles when the accelerator stopped working again and the vehicle slowed to an idle. I repeated the same process as before, stop, put in park, turned off engine and restarted. The accelerator worked again and I continued on 10 miles and made it home. The next available day the vehicle was taken to the Ford dealership. I experienced (2) of the same scenerios listed above along my 6 mile route to the dealership. After (2) days the problem was diagnosed as a defective throttle body with a $574 price tag to repair. The service person stated this was not covered under warranty or a recall item. She then stated that the part was on a "national backorder" and would not be available for another month. This leads me to believe this is happening alot!! I have read several articles on the internet about this same type of issue happening to other Ford Escapes, varying years and was surprised there has not been a recall. The incident started when I was out of town, headed toward home at approimately 11:00 pm. It could have been an even more dangerous situation if I had lost power trying to turn across traffic or was on a much busier highway when this happened. I hope others are aware of this website.

Driving on the highway. The wrench light comes on. I press the gas pedal and there is nothing. The engine is still running but giving it gas will not help it to move. I put my hazards on and pull off road. I shut the car off and restart. This works but the engine light comes on. Now it just shuts down sporadically. I cannot be sure when or where it will happen. Took it to the dealer (town and country Ford) and I am waiting for a replacement throttle body. I contacted Ford Motor Company where I have my loan and they said even if the part is defective it is not covered under any warranties.

We have had problems with this vehicle from day one. Currently the big issue is the throttle body (which I've seen has been a problem with all the Ford Escapes). Also the mass air flow system, heating/air, and security system (also it has a problem not starting---not sure if that's also throttle body). Is this being recalled?
