I was driving on the highway with my cruise control on when the cruise control shut off and a wrench light came on. The car stopped excelling and I had to cruise from the fast lane over 2 lanes to the side of the road. Once to the side I turned my car off waited a minute and then turned it back on. It turned on fine and ran fine from then on. I of course called Ford immediately but it was after hours and I left a message. After about an hour of driving it began to shake my foot when I pushed on the accelerator. Prior to this I did feel some slipping or surges every so often when I was accelerating as if it was having trouble shifting. When I brought it to Ford it was decided that my throttle body needed to be replaced. This was done fast and was covered under my extended warranty it was to be fixed for just my deductible of $100. All fine and dandy until I read the reviews that this has been going on for a while and multiple people have been affected.

While driving the engine stalled, but the lights and radio continued to work. We pulled over and put the car into park and attempted to restart the engine, and it started. However, just a couple of weeks later (this past weekend) it happened again. Both time we were traveling around 20-25 mph on city streets, no warning on indication prior to the stalling, but when it does stall the oil and engine light comes on.

While traveling down the highway at approximately 70 mph, the car suddenly loses power. The vehicle becomes unresponsive to throttle controls. Vehicle must be pulled off of the highway, onto the shoulder. The vehicle key must be cycled to reset the system. Being an active investigation, there should be known cases of the electronic throttle body failing on these cars. It is a safety concern, and the drive by wire design of the vehicle does not allow a throttle body to be cleaned.

While driving the freeway the engine loss power, the yellow 'wrench" light came on and I had to coast to the side of the road. I tried to rev the engine, no power but the engine was running with a rough idle. I turned off the car waited 3-4 min it started right up I continued on my way this has happened to me several times thru-out the months of Sept., Oct and the first week of Nov.. near the 15 of Oct was the worst, while traveling home the car stopped several times, this time both service and wrench lights came on and I limped home, stopping/ restarting every block. On reaching home, I parked the car and there she stayed till about Nov, 1st, when I started her up to keep the battery top off, when she started no warning lights were on. Ohh, I have the sinc system which offers a vehicle report and said its was caused by the throttle control unit, I've replaced the control unit today (11/06/2013) and hope this fixes the problem.

In Sept while going up a hill, just made it to the top, had loss of power, engine running but accelerator will not work. Able to coast down hill into a parking lot. After turned car off, started back up. Ran fine until today. Little wrench light came on. Spoke to mechanic, he stated it was a throttle body problem, ok to drive unless you have further problems, it will need to be replaced in the future. Today, Nov. 3, while pulling out from a parking lot, into heavy traffic, car engine stalled, put car into park, turned key to off position, then car started right up. Vehicles behind ours were able to stop, luckily none collided.

After waiting for traffic signal, I began my turn left. Just past the intersection, I lost power with sort of a chugging motion in the vehicle. I was able to get off the road. The indicator on the instrument panel was of a small wrench, indicating throttle control/powertrain in the manual. I called the dealer and was able to start the car and drive in. The charge for installing ds7Z 9E926 D (throttle body and motor as) was $400.46 plus tax. With less than 38000 miles on this vehicle, I did not expect to have this kind of repair.

I am a homehealth nurse, I work in a very mountainous, rural area where I do not even have cellphone service. I was on a very narrow, curvy road, when the car just quit accelerating, the small wrench appeared on the dash, I was able to coast far enough to get to a wide spot where I could get the vehicle safely out of the road, barely missing an 18 wheel coal truck from hitting me. There was no warning, the vehicle drove fine all day and then it just quit. I was able to turn the car off and restart and attempted to drive it and again this happened 3 times before the check engine light finally came on. The nicest person in the world help me and he was able to detect the problem with his computer and he was able to adjust the throttle into the closed position and then I was able to get the vehicle home without anymore problems. I then took it to a Ford dealership and had the throttle body replaced before I did get killed if this was to happen again. I do wish Ford would just get this part recalled before someone does get killed.

While driving freeway speeds, I lost power. Wrench light came on, engine remained running and I limped to the side of the freeway. When re-starting car, problem disappeared. Took car to private mechanic ([xxx]) and he could not find a problem in the computer history. He suspected throttle linkage. Car drove fine until Oct 25, 2013 when it recurred on the freeway. While coasting in the hov lane, we put vehicle in "neutral" and tried to restart, problem did not resolve. Only after coasting to a stop and putting the vehicle in "park" and restarting would the problem re-set. Very hazardous losing power at freeway speeds and trying to limp to the side. I was driving in congested morning traffic and the engine stalled. The wrench indicator light popped on as I lost acceleration. I was able to coast on to the median. However, I was almost struck from behind by another car. After about 30 seconds, the car started back up and I immediately went to work and made it home without problems this evening. After researching on the internet, it appears this is a recurring problem and just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or hurt. I am afraid to drive now as other complaints indicate this has not only been occurring for quite some time, but it may also continue to happen more frequently and eventually stop running altogether.

As I was driving down the interstate with the cruise control set at 70mph, the vehicle turned the cruise control off and decelerated almost immediately to 60mph which caused an uncomfortable thrashing forward of myself and my 2 children. We had our seat belts on, so we were not injured. The vehicle continued to lose power, so I pulled off the highway and placed the vehicle in park and turned off the engine. I noticed a little wrench had appeared in the left corner of my dash display. I looked up this symbol in my owners manual. I then decided to go ahead and try to continue driving as I was a good 75+ miles from home and I was in a very remote area. When I started the engine, I noticed the service engine light came on and did not go back out. I proceeded down the interstate approximately 2 miles before the vehicle did the same thing. This time I attempted to accelerate and with the gas pedal to the floor, had no success. The car just continued to lose speed, so again, I pulled off the highway and this time I let the vehicle proceed as far as it could without applying the brake. As the car was nearly stopped, it started to shake as if it were about to shut off. I turned off the engine and again, restarted after a short break and was able to make it the rest of the way home.

While drivin about fifty the car just stopped going, the wrench light came on, I tried to push the fas pedal but nothing would happen it just slowed to a stop. So I put it in park and turned it off waited a few seconds and it started up and I drove off. A couple of days later it happened again at about 35 mph, so I did the same. Thought it was a fluke and/or the weather being the problem so I called Ford dealer and they said it sounds like the throttle body. Well for the past month it happens everyday while im driving 65 or 15 just all of the sudden it stops going and I have to pull off the side of the road put it in park and restart it sometimes it goes a few feet and I have to do it again sometimes it just starts and goes and now the check engine light comes on every third time in a row that it happens stays on for a couple days and then goes out for a couple days and so on, just do the recall we have all been reading about it doesn't take a genius like you people to figure this out........hear let me help you dooooo the recall.

The vehicle was traveling on the expressway when suddenly the car seemed to "stall" although it never actually stalled out, but rpms dropped to 800-1000 and would not respond to any throttle action. After turning the car off, waiting and starting again, the problem then resurfaced about a half mile later. I was again able to pull off, restart the car and continue normally. Once in a safe location (work), I was able to connect a obd-II reader to the car and found the following: P2112: Tac system stuck closed running a google search of the above error gave many many articles pointing to a throttle body issue. This issue was preceded by the car randomly stalling out (this time actual stalls). These happened at very random intervals for approx. 2-3 weeks before the expressway issue.

Car stalled and quickly slowed down in heavy traffic and had to pull onto a narrow shoulder with lots of debris. Car would then allow me to speed up again and repeat the rapid stall until ultimately going into limp mode. Was later found to be the throttle body that was said to be on back-order for three weeks since so many others were having the same issue with their Escapes and that Ford had a redesign in work. Had to pay my extended warranty co-pay since Ford has no recall for this issue.

Traveling on a major highway in the middle lane at 8:30 pm the truck started to hesitate and act like it wasn't running right. Then I lost total control of the accelerator but the car was still running. I had all I could do to try to coast over to the shoulder of the road to try and figure out what was wrong. Noticing that the accelerator did not engage at all, I turned off the truck and was going to call for a tow truck. That's when I decided to try and start it to see if I could get home on my own. Once I started the truck, it was like nothing happened and I continued home making it without a problem. Since then this has happened 3 other times, always on the highway, and the last 2 times it happened it, once the truck started back up and I drove off, I only got @ 3 miles down the same highway and it happened again, so I just repeated the procedure and hasn't happened since. I have gone ahead and purchased the new throttle body and am having my mechanic install it this week. I will be driving @ 60 miles one way, 120 miles total, a day for work starting this week and I can't afford to get stranded that far from home and loose time from work or not be able to get home. I've been told that at one point and time that the truck won't just start back up every time, so I'll be getting it fixed. Very disappointed that the truck that I purchased in April and only has @ 44000 miles on it would have such a major problem with such an important component. I've been told that they can't keep them on the shelves because there is such a huge problem overall. This can be very dangerous to someone who wouldn't know what to do in a crisis situation. On the box for the part it says Ford genuine parts, made in Mexico. Nice!! maybe you want to rethink where you locate your parts factories. You know the old saying " nothing good is cheap and nothing cheap is good".

Throttle body replaced on 10/16/2013. Merging onto interstate highway when sudden down shift and engine rev occurred. Car would not accelerate when needed and pulled onto safety lane.. turned engine off and restarted, same thing occurred with acceleration at 60 mph and higher. Very dangerous because car slows down dramatically and will not accelerate.
