Driving about 2 miles from my home the auto began to be sluggish. Then it would only go about 5 TO10 miles an hour and then barely going at all. Auto was towed to mechanic and diagnosed that the throttle body was the issue and it was replaced.

While driving approximately 70 mph on highway, veh lost power, no acceleration, wrench symbol and check engine light came on, had to coast off to the side of the highway. Turned key off and let sit a couple minutes, restarted and was ok, but intermittently problem recurred until unable to drive more than a few miles between occurrences. Diagnosis was a faulty throttle body. Replaced throttle body and no problems since.

I was driving into work on a 5 lane, heavy traffic road going about 45 mph when my car suddenly lost all of its engine power. The radio, lights were still working, the car simply wouldn't accelerate and actually slowed down considerably to a point where I was basically stopped on the road. I was able to coast into a turning lane so I was at least out of the main traffic lane. I turned the car off, started it again and as I prepared to make a left turn to get into a parking lot I lost all acceleration again and barely made it out of the intersection. I was able to put the car in neutral and coast it into a parking lot. My car required a tow to a local dealership and the issue was an electronic throttlebody failure. I'm extremely thankful that I didn't make it onto the freeway because if I stopped in that traffic I'm not sure I would have been able to avoid a major accident.

While driving freeway speeds, I lost power. Wrench light came on, engine remained running and I limped to the side of the freeway. When re-starting car, problem disappeared. Took car to private mechanic ([xxx]) and he could not find a problem in the computer history. He suspected throttle linkage. Car drove fine until Oct 25, 2013 when it recurred on the freeway. While coasting in the hov lane, we put vehicle in "neutral" and tried to restart, problem did not resolve. Only after coasting to a stop and putting the vehicle in "park" and restarting would the problem re-set. Very hazardous losing power at freeway speeds and trying to limp to the side. I was taking the wife home from the hospital after she had surgery and the car stalled on me while I was pulling out into a busy highway and we were nearly hit. On the way home the car stalled and went into limp mode numerous times and we had to call a tow truck. The culprit was a malfunctioning throttle body assembly which the dealer told me was very common. I cant believe there hasn't been a recall on this as it is very dangerous. The car just stalls at random moments and the only way to get going again is to put the car in park, turn it off, and start it back up. The repair bill was $535.29 + towing costs.

Had to replace throttle body on October 28,2013 after many times of truck stalling at speeds up to 40 mph. Most of the issues occurred at speeds of less than 25 mph. The power train warning light (wrench light) and check engine light both would be illuminated. The car could be restarted after each issue.

As I was driving down the interstate with the cruise control set at 70mph, the vehicle turned the cruise control off and decelerated almost immediately to 60mph which caused an uncomfortable thrashing forward of myself and my 2 children. We had our seat belts on, so we were not injured. The vehicle continued to lose power, so I pulled off the highway and placed the vehicle in park and turned off the engine. I noticed a little wrench had appeared in the left corner of my dash display. I looked up this symbol in my owners manual. I then decided to go ahead and try to continue driving as I was a good 75+ miles from home and I was in a very remote area. When I started the engine, I noticed the service engine light came on and did not go back out. I proceeded down the interstate approximately 2 miles before the vehicle did the same thing. This time I attempted to accelerate and with the gas pedal to the floor, had no success. The car just continued to lose speed, so again, I pulled off the highway and this time I let the vehicle proceed as far as it could without applying the brake. As the car was nearly stopped, it started to shake as if it were about to shut off. I turned off the engine and again, restarted after a short break and was able to make it the rest of the way home.

2010 Ford Escape. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle decelerates without warning. The consumer stated the deceleration, happened at different speeds. There was no jerking of the vehicle, no warning light illuminated. It just lost speed quickly. The only option the consumer had was to drive the vehicle from the passing lane to the shoulder, crossing several lanes of traffic, turn it off and re-start it. The first time it happened it ran fine afterwards for weeks. The second time it happened, the same thing, but the third time it happened the vehicle decelerated four times within 15 minutes.

While drivin about fifty the car just stopped going, the wrench light came on, I tried to push the fas pedal but nothing would happen it just slowed to a stop. So I put it in park and turned it off waited a few seconds and it started up and I drove off. A couple of days later it happened again at about 35 mph, so I did the same. Thought it was a fluke and/or the weather being the problem so I called Ford dealer and they said it sounds like the throttle body. Well for the past month it happens everyday while im driving 65 or 15 just all of the sudden it stops going and I have to pull off the side of the road put it in park and restart it sometimes it goes a few feet and I have to do it again sometimes it just starts and goes and now the check engine light comes on every third time in a row that it happens stays on for a couple days and then goes out for a couple days and so on, just do the recall we have all been reading about it doesn't take a genius like you people to figure this out........hear let me help you dooooo the recall.

The vehicle was traveling on the expressway when suddenly the car seemed to "stall" although it never actually stalled out, but rpms dropped to 800-1000 and would not respond to any throttle action. After turning the car off, waiting and starting again, the problem then resurfaced about a half mile later. I was again able to pull off, restart the car and continue normally. Once in a safe location (work), I was able to connect a obd-II reader to the car and found the following: P2112: Tac system stuck closed running a google search of the above error gave many many articles pointing to a throttle body issue. This issue was preceded by the car randomly stalling out (this time actual stalls). These happened at very random intervals for approx. 2-3 weeks before the expressway issue.

While driving the car, the engine suddenly shut down. After coming to a stop, was able to restart the car but the check engine light was illuminated. Took the car to a repair shop and they diagnosed the problem as being the throttle body plate. We have been told this is a common problem on these vehicles but Ford has not issued a recall for this problem. This is a very expensive repair that we feel should be paid by Ford.

While drive down hwy at 60 mph, engine light/wrench came on and the engine went into slow speed at 900 RPM. Also did it at low speeds while driving away from stopped. Had to replace the throttle body control and problem went away.

Car stalled and quickly slowed down in heavy traffic and had to pull onto a narrow shoulder with lots of debris. Car would then allow me to speed up again and repeat the rapid stall until ultimately going into limp mode. Was later found to be the throttle body that was said to be on back-order for three weeks since so many others were having the same issue with their Escapes and that Ford had a redesign in work. Had to pay my extended warranty co-pay since Ford has no recall for this issue.

Traveling on a major highway in the middle lane at 8:30 pm the truck started to hesitate and act like it wasn't running right. Then I lost total control of the accelerator but the car was still running. I had all I could do to try to coast over to the shoulder of the road to try and figure out what was wrong. Noticing that the accelerator did not engage at all, I turned off the truck and was going to call for a tow truck. That's when I decided to try and start it to see if I could get home on my own. Once I started the truck, it was like nothing happened and I continued home making it without a problem. Since then this has happened 3 other times, always on the highway, and the last 2 times it happened it, once the truck started back up and I drove off, I only got @ 3 miles down the same highway and it happened again, so I just repeated the procedure and hasn't happened since. I have gone ahead and purchased the new throttle body and am having my mechanic install it this week. I will be driving @ 60 miles one way, 120 miles total, a day for work starting this week and I can't afford to get stranded that far from home and loose time from work or not be able to get home. I've been told that at one point and time that the truck won't just start back up every time, so I'll be getting it fixed. Very disappointed that the truck that I purchased in April and only has @ 44000 miles on it would have such a major problem with such an important component. I've been told that they can't keep them on the shelves because there is such a huge problem overall. This can be very dangerous to someone who wouldn't know what to do in a crisis situation. On the box for the part it says Ford genuine parts, made in Mexico. Nice!! maybe you want to rethink where you locate your parts factories. You know the old saying " nothing good is cheap and nothing cheap is good".

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the throttle body was defective and needed replacing. The dealer replaced the throttle body. The failure mileage was 32,000. The VIN was not available.

It is most likely the throttle body of this vehicle it drives normal than cuts off in traffic, restarts drives normal, and you never know when it cuts off again, extremely concerned that an incident may occur.

Throttle body replaced on 10/16/2013. Merging onto interstate highway when sudden down shift and engine rev occurred. Car would not accelerate when needed and pulled onto safety lane.. turned engine off and restarted, same thing occurred with acceleration at 60 mph and higher. Very dangerous because car slows down dramatically and will not accelerate.

Backed out of parking space, wrench lit on dash, no throttle control, erratic idle. Have a code scanner, it read P2111. Placed in park, shut engine off and restarted, light went off. Drive 5 minutes, wrench light came on again, no throttle control, erratic idle, codes P2111, P2112. Almost got rear-ended. Again put in park and restarted, made it home. This has happened 3 times before this in the last 2 weeks. Very dangerous loosing power like that with no warning, I'm afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle, she is on the freeway more. I'm lucky to be on less traveled side roads where I can pull over to shoulder to restart vehicle. Some say its the throttle body, others the electronic gas pedal. Vehicle is out of warranty and I don't want to throw money at parts. Ford should recall this.

On 8/24/13, while traveling out of state, I entered the highway, got my speed up to 70 mph, when the vehicle jolted hard and all acceleration was lost. I coasted to a stop on the side of the highway, turned the engine off, waited 30 seconds, and restarted it. It cranked hard, but started. I reentered the highway, accelerated to about 70 mph and the Escape lost acceleration again. I again coasted to a stop and repeated the above steps. The car once again started and I was able to complete my trip home, keeping my speed to around 55mph. No problems with the vehicle from 8/24/13 until 10/15/13. On 10/15/13, the vehicle was being driven around 25 mph when it lost all acceleration. By turning the vehicle off and back on, it was able to be driven to its destination. About 4 hours later, returning home, the vehicle twice more lost all acceleration while going about 25 mph. All 5 of these incidents happened in busy, high trafficked areas, and posed a real accident potential for my family.
