Driving on freeway, at about 65mph, when all of the sudden the engine stalled and power was cut dramatically from the engine. Unable to control speed and instantly started stopping. Had to pull over sharply and unsafely on the side of an on-ramp narrowly having car behind us miss us. Turned off vehicle and had to wait about 20 seconds before restarting the car. It then worked ok. Happened several times on one trip of about 20 miles. Took to a dealer and they diagnosed it as the throttle body needing to be replaced.

Driving down road at 55mph, suddenly the gas pedal was unresponsive (no power). Pulled to the side of road, shut car down and waited approx. 5 min. Then restarted car. Ran ok. Since then this has been a recurring event. Recently stalled on railroad tracks as my wife was driving to work. Would like to see Ford step up and recall before someone losses their life in an accident. This is a fairly expensive repair, approx. $650 from what we've read on line. Seems to be happening with more frequency since first occurrence.

On a city street headed out of town in the morning. Started to pull out from a stop sign into traffic when the engine began to run really rough. Stopped just into intersection. First thought it might be water in the gas. Vehicle would idle very rough between 500-800 RPM. Put isopropyl dry gas in the tank...no better after 35 minutes. Vehicle would not move! called the dealership and ended up having it towed. Dealer called on Monday to tell me the throttle body had failed and needed replaced. Cost was $417.63. Made a comment to the service manager that the apparatus should not have gone out at 31,000 miles (vehicle out of warranty by date). The gentleman politely avoided any answer. Today I googled the problem only to find out that this is not an uncommon occurrence with 2009-2010 Escapes, and the condition is under investigation. Add my name to one of the lucky recipients!

While driving down the road at about 45mph, the car stopped acknowledging that I was pushing the gas pedal. The car steadily slowed down, regardless of how much I pushed on the gas pedal. I ended up veering off into a parking lot and shutting the car off. I waited about 5 minutes and restarted it. It acted normal and I resumed my driving. It has happened about 5 times since then as well. Thankfully I haven't been on the highway and have had a place to pull off the road.

I was traveling West on I-10 from tallahassee, fl intending to go to pensacola, fl. I was driving the 70 mph posted speed limit. As I neared exit 192 @ quincy, fl I heard a noise from under the hood that sounded like a clunk. The car's engine dropped below 1000 RPM and gradually slowed down. I pulled off to the emergency lane. The Escape was towed to havana Ford in havana, fl on sat., Nov. 2, 2013. The service dept. Opened Monday and I was informed that the throttle body broke. I had the throttle body and gasket replaced.

While traveling down the highway at approximately 70 mph, the car suddenly loses power. The vehicle becomes unresponsive to throttle controls. Vehicle must be pulled off of the highway, onto the shoulder. The vehicle key must be cycled to reset the system. Being an active investigation, there should be known cases of the electronic throttle body failing on these cars. It is a safety concern, and the drive by wire design of the vehicle does not allow a throttle body to be cleaned.

Driving about 2 miles from my home the auto began to be sluggish. Then it would only go about 5 TO10 miles an hour and then barely going at all. Auto was towed to mechanic and diagnosed that the throttle body was the issue and it was replaced.

I was driving into work on a 5 lane, heavy traffic road going about 45 mph when my car suddenly lost all of its engine power. The radio, lights were still working, the car simply wouldn't accelerate and actually slowed down considerably to a point where I was basically stopped on the road. I was able to coast into a turning lane so I was at least out of the main traffic lane. I turned the car off, started it again and as I prepared to make a left turn to get into a parking lot I lost all acceleration again and barely made it out of the intersection. I was able to put the car in neutral and coast it into a parking lot. My car required a tow to a local dealership and the issue was an electronic throttlebody failure. I'm extremely thankful that I didn't make it onto the freeway because if I stopped in that traffic I'm not sure I would have been able to avoid a major accident.

After waiting for traffic signal, I began my turn left. Just past the intersection, I lost power with sort of a chugging motion in the vehicle. I was able to get off the road. The indicator on the instrument panel was of a small wrench, indicating throttle control/powertrain in the manual. I called the dealer and was able to start the car and drive in. The charge for installing ds7Z 9E926 D (throttle body and motor as) was $400.46 plus tax. With less than 38000 miles on this vehicle, I did not expect to have this kind of repair.

I was taking the wife home from the hospital after she had surgery and the car stalled on me while I was pulling out into a busy highway and we were nearly hit. On the way home the car stalled and went into limp mode numerous times and we had to call a tow truck. The culprit was a malfunctioning throttle body assembly which the dealer told me was very common. I cant believe there hasn't been a recall on this as it is very dangerous. The car just stalls at random moments and the only way to get going again is to put the car in park, turn it off, and start it back up. The repair bill was $535.29 + towing costs.

Had to replace throttle body on October 28,2013 after many times of truck stalling at speeds up to 40 mph. Most of the issues occurred at speeds of less than 25 mph. The power train warning light (wrench light) and check engine light both would be illuminated. The car could be restarted after each issue.

I was accelerating into traffic when, all of a sudden, my vehicle lurched forward, began to rapidly lose speed, and would not accelerate--even with the gas pedal pushed to the floor. Simultaneously, the yellow wrench light illuminated on the lower left-hand side of the dashboard. I had to immediately cross over two lanes of traffic and pull to a side street, at which time, my car came to a complete stop. I then put the car in park and turned off the ignition. A search of my owner's manual revealed that the wrench light indicated a powertrain or throttle failure. I immediately contacted the Ford dealership and had the car towed in for inspection. I was told it was a burned out throttle body assembly as a result of a faulty vapor lock cap. A day later, the throttle body was replaced along with the faulty vapor lock component at a cost of over $700. Neither part was covered under my warranty. Interestingly, I went back through my service records and noted that in December of 2012, I stated to a local Ford service manager that my car was sluggish and would not immediately accelerate through turns. The service tech could not replicate the problem and so nothing was done aside from cleaning the throttle body and fuel system. If you are experiencing occasional "hitches" or lag times in acceleration when the gas pedal is depressed, be aware that these are hallmarks of a failing throttle body and it may be time to take your vehicle in and have the throttle body and vapor recovery system examined. It's time to issue a recall, Ford.

The vehicle was traveling on the expressway when suddenly the car seemed to "stall" although it never actually stalled out, but rpms dropped to 800-1000 and would not respond to any throttle action. After turning the car off, waiting and starting again, the problem then resurfaced about a half mile later. I was again able to pull off, restart the car and continue normally. Once in a safe location (work), I was able to connect a obd-II reader to the car and found the following: P2112: Tac system stuck closed running a google search of the above error gave many many articles pointing to a throttle body issue. This issue was preceded by the car randomly stalling out (this time actual stalls). These happened at very random intervals for approx. 2-3 weeks before the expressway issue.

Throttle body replaced on 10/16/2013. Merging onto interstate highway when sudden down shift and engine rev occurred. Car would not accelerate when needed and pulled onto safety lane.. turned engine off and restarted, same thing occurred with acceleration at 60 mph and higher. Very dangerous because car slows down dramatically and will not accelerate.

Backed out of parking space, wrench lit on dash, no throttle control, erratic idle. Have a code scanner, it read P2111. Placed in park, shut engine off and restarted, light went off. Drive 5 minutes, wrench light came on again, no throttle control, erratic idle, codes P2111, P2112. Almost got rear-ended. Again put in park and restarted, made it home. This has happened 3 times before this in the last 2 weeks. Very dangerous loosing power like that with no warning, I'm afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle, she is on the freeway more. I'm lucky to be on less traveled side roads where I can pull over to shoulder to restart vehicle. Some say its the throttle body, others the electronic gas pedal. Vehicle is out of warranty and I don't want to throw money at parts. Ford should recall this.

While making a left at an intersection the engine cut to idle and would not accelerate. After pulling to the side of the road the car was shut off and started again and ran ok. The car was take to the dealer the next day. We were told the throttle body was bad. I was also told they go bad a lot and they not covered by the engine warranty. Traffic was light at the time if it was heavy this could have caused an accident. There have been times in the past were the car hesitated badly from a stop.

On 8/24/13, while traveling out of state, I entered the highway, got my speed up to 70 mph, when the vehicle jolted hard and all acceleration was lost. I coasted to a stop on the side of the highway, turned the engine off, waited 30 seconds, and restarted it. It cranked hard, but started. I reentered the highway, accelerated to about 70 mph and the Escape lost acceleration again. I again coasted to a stop and repeated the above steps. The car once again started and I was able to complete my trip home, keeping my speed to around 55mph. No problems with the vehicle from 8/24/13 until 10/15/13. On 10/15/13, the vehicle was being driven around 25 mph when it lost all acceleration. By turning the vehicle off and back on, it was able to be driven to its destination. About 4 hours later, returning home, the vehicle twice more lost all acceleration while going about 25 mph. All 5 of these incidents happened in busy, high trafficked areas, and posed a real accident potential for my family.

While driving at 55 mph, car went into limp home mode, greatly reducing speed on rural highway. Code was for throttle actuator stuck closed. Dealer cleaned throttle plates only, and returned car. Next day, the same thing occurred. This time dealer replaced throttle body. This is a dangerouls situation for which I have noticed there have been complaints and an investigation. A safety recall should be ordered. A side effect in limp mode was the engine ran rough with decreased gas mileage while car was driven a few miles to dealer in limp mode.

Traveling on I 64 East toward richmond in the left lane at approx 70 mph in very heavy, fast moving traffic. The engine immediately begin to lose acceleration, the engine wrench icon came on, and the vehicle was rapidly slowing; depressing the accelerator had no effect. There was no left shoulder, and I had difficulty in maneuvering to the right side of the interstate due to traffic. This was quiet alarming. I called for assistance. After researching on internet for about 5 minutes, I started the car, cancelled the tow truck and continued. It appears that this is a common issue with the throttle body assembly and will become increasingly more frequent on my automobile. It is definitely a safety issue.
