The vehicle was towed to ken grody Ford buena park (6211 beach blvd, buena park, ca 90621, (888) 263-7926) where it was diagnosed that the torque sensor failed and the entire steering column needed to be replaced, parts were replaced and completed. The repairs cost $3,000. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 110,000. Consumer stated while exiting from the interstate vehicle went from 65 mph to 0 mph a gradual deceleration and the electronic power steering stopped working. Consumer tried to restart the car serveral times to no avail.

The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V284000 (steering). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.

Electric power steering goes out all of a sudden while I'm driving. I have to man handle the wheel till it comes back and it almost caused a couple of bad accidents. I don't like feeling unsafe driving a car I'm paying for especially with my kids in it. Took it too the dealership to get diagnosed and my torque sensor in the steering column has a bad connection, and can cause the wheel to lock up. The most frustrating part is my particular VIN is not covered with the recall for the exact same issue with other 2011 Ford Escapes. I don't have $700 to dish out at all times working for the army. Would be awesome if the recall would cover all 2011 Escapes so I can get the issue fixed and my family doesn't have to stress about it anymore.

Two Ford dealerships told me many customers are having the same issues with their Escapes and Ford not taking responsibility. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 124,000.

Twice in the last few months the power steering goes out when turning slowly. I was driving about 15mph when I turned to the right and felt the steering lock up making it dangerous and nearly impossible to get to a safe parking place. Once I did, I powered the car off for a min and back on. It resumed as normal. It is dangerous and scary to be driving with my family. I no longer trust this vehicle.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 107,000.

A black Toyota stop in front of when us, I hit the brakes on impact, the airbags deployed and blowup in my face, knocking out one of my crowns and shift my teeth, I went to the dentist office after leaving the hospital, the doctor told me I swallowed particles and my left side of my face would not stop hurting, I also let the dentist know the airbag blowup in my face, he found my root canal was framed in half, in order to fix the problem I would have to pay $12,000 of my own money to repair the tooth and other damage teeth that were shifted or I would loose them in the future, I haven't smiled sense.I was driving North bound on highway they were traveling East bound at a four way crossing into a gas station.
