This was taken to Kendall Ford of Anchorage. The check engine light come on and start running bad. I immediately took it into the dealership they said I just needed new spark plugs and turn up. But in the note it says there was leaking out of cylinder two and three. No recommendations were given to me. They change the spark plugs and gave it back. Then again it started running bad April 2022. I took back to the dealership in April 2022 and they said it was misfiring but no longer was. I took it back to the dealership again when coolant light started coming on. They gave it back to me and said nothing was wrong. Now because of the leak into the cylinders it-??s started overheating due to an internal coolant / antifreeze leak that allows coolant to enter into the cylinders of the engine. The dealership is now stating the engine is flooded with coolant which caused total engine failure and now require replacement of the engine block. My car only has 52,000 miles.

We were experiencing the engine cutting out and dying very rarely for about 2 years. One day while driving the vehicle, I hit the accelerator and the car started to engage the drive train, but then cut out and died. I was able to restart the vehicle and put it into drive. It would accelerate but once it got to the correct RPM and tried to shift the engine would cut out again. Ford said that it was a transmission failure and because it wasn't under warranty it was our responsibility to replace it at our cost if we decided to do the repair. Now a year later, the exact issue that we were experiencing is beginning with the replacement transmission. If this is a recall is it the responsibility of Ford to reimburse me the cost of replacing the transmission and complete the recall repair for the transmission that they put in.

Vehicle was taken in for diagnosis as it kept alerting that coolant was low and shutting off due to over heating alert. Coolant reservoir ans sensors were changed prior to that date. I was advised that the vehicle needs the engine short block replaced. The repair of the vehicles along with the quote exceeds the vehicle value.

While merging onto the highway, I got into the right lane. While in motion my car stalled and went from 70 mph to 40 mph almost instantly. There have been many other times of engine stalling that has made me fear to drive this vehicle with my child. I noticed that " engine stalling" and the engine in general have been a common issue specific year make and model while researching this vehicles history. There have also been many major repairs and more needed repairs that will cost more than the vehicles worth. The turbo was recently repaired, water bypass valve, valve cover, spark plugs. With more repairs to be made due to fluids still leaking, and a certified mechanic noting that the catalytic converter will need to be replaced. The repairs done and the repairs needed will greatly cost more than the vehicles worth. I'm asking that you guys take into consideration that im still paying on this vehicle and a single mom who cannot keep putting repairs into a vehicle that i desperaetly need for transportation.

Complete engine failure and ecoboost needed due to internal coolant leak that was reported the day purchased. Ford knew about these recalls and the issues were exactly the same but sold this to me anyway and refused to properly fix it. The engine in my car has been recalled but like thousands of others our vin isn-??t falling in the recall list.

Car falsely indicates overheating and goes into -??limp mode-?? not allowing me to accelerate even while driving. Has occurred on freeway, while parked, in intersections, and has posed a threat to my safety over a hundred times. Been yelled at by other drivers and almost hit countless times because I-??ve been unable to accelerate whilst trying to pull over safely. -??Hill start assist not available-?? appears and then -??engine fault service now-?? accompanied by the speedometer going to 0mph (even while driving) as well as the RPM-??s going to 0. Lastly, -??high engine temperature-?? appears and car starts shaking and lurching and the engine gets extremely loud until I-??m able to turn it off. Sometimes turns back on right away, sometimes I-??m stuck in car on side of road/freeway for minutes-hours. Been to 2 Ford dealerships as well as many mechanics and have been told it-??s fixed several times and it has not been. After replacing transmission, spark plugs, corroded wires, coolant, and more, Ford dealership said they have no idea what is wrong with car. Exploring online I found many other reports of 2013 escapes having the same issues as well as other Ford vehicles. This has affected my safety too many times and I-??m unable to find a solution anywhere. Check engine light is always on unless cleared. Has been occurring on and off (more frequently as time passes) since I got car 2.5 years ago and have been unable to receive any help or solutions. Occurs at any speed, even while in park. I have videos as well of the car not turning on and actively showing these alerts whilst I-??m driving. Sometimes the car will even be -??on-?? but the entire dash is black as if the car was off.

Unknown Coolant is leaking, but from under the hood on the drivers side. All the coolant poured out of the vehicle after the car was shut off on June 16, 2022. This has not happened again but has continued to leak. I noticed there was a recall for my year escape for coolant leaks and possible fires in 2012. I would like my vehicle to be inspected for this by my Ford dealership, along with the other recalls to be done.

Service engine soon light came on and began having issues with the low coolant coming on every few weeks. Codes on engine light came up as Engine Coolant Bypass Valve C Control Circuit Open. Vehicle then started having coolant light come on multiple times in the same day after coolant had been added and then would not start. Tried to start and Engine made a clanking noise and alerted to turn off immediately. Codes read again for bypass valve and now Engine Misfire on Cylinder 4 and misfire on startup. Had vehicle towed to a shop and upon inspection they observed coolant leaking into the engine due to block/head porosity in metal. Was told that this was a common problem with this engine style and the only was to fix is to replace the engine. Was told if the engine was not replaced that it would continue to misfire and may experience engine failure or fire while driving.

There is a coolant leak in my 2013 Escape engine. There were approximately 90,000 miles on this vehicle when we purchased it used. It started having problems immediately. The dealer where we got our vehicle from stated that they would make us pay the difference in depreciation to return the vehicle even though it had a 30 day warranty. The coolant would leak and then there was low coolant. Whitish blue smoke would pour from the tailpipe. Ford refuses to acknowledge that there is a manufacturing defect even though Ford installed "coolant temperature gauges" to prevent the overheating. This is simply just a bandaid to a larger problem that multiple Escape owners are experiencing. This vehicle has been to 2 different Ford dealers, both of whom told me different things that were wrong. Consequently, this vehicle has been sitting at a Ford dealership in Hanover, PA since February 2020 because they want 8K to replace the engine. I am awaiting a class action lawsuit against Ford to resolve this issue...

2013 Ford Escape 1.6 ecoboost engine, at around 103,000 miles, a quarter size spot of coolant on the drive was first notice. Every now and then the low coolant warning came on, but the coolant was barely below the minimum line. In 2020-21, had taken it to my local mechanic and another time to my Ford Dealer. Both told me no leakage was found. Neither informed me of this being a known issue with this engine coolant system, nor about the recalls. In April, the low coolant warning came on, this time coolant loss was significant. I had to add 1/2 gallon of water even it I drove only 5 miles. I noticed the coolant only leaked out while the vehicle was running, never when parked. I took it into Ford Service Department for repair. They determined it is an internal coolant leak. Due to a design defect, coolant leak into one or more engine cylinders. Engine replacement needed. The price will be $9721! (I purchased it in 2020 for $10,000). They said this is common with the Ford Escape's engine. They said, they have seen hundreds of Escapes in recent years, with this issue of the coolant leaking into the engine and ruining the engine.

My son was driving stopped at a red light vehicle shut off while in drive it will not stay running. This is not the first time it has happened in traffic. If he was not stopped he could of been seriously hurt along with myself and daughter. I see there is a investigation on the 1.6 but not 2.0. This needs to be looked at before someone gets hurt or worse killed.

This Vechicle has been serviced at Ford Dealership since purchasing it.every 3,000 miles synthetic oil change, balance, rotate and eliminate if needed and certified inspection at a cost of $412 plus any repairs. The Vechicle started overheating while my daughter was taking her kids to school in the neighborhood, she hurried and used the onboard fire extinguisher due to all the smoke and the children were in restraints car seats. This issue is a100% match to the recall for this Vechicle (not my vin?) the fuel line is also leaking and matches recall 100%. Ford needs to include my Vechicle it-??s been sitting ever since the incident.
