Only 5 year old car and transmission died out of nowhere. Luckily I am alive. It happened on the highway, out of nowhere I started to feel my car start to throw to front and back and then no speed. I press on the gas pedal the RPMS goes up but the car doesn't move. Again lucky I am alive as it was on TOLL highway where usually people go 130 KM/hr. Warranty is finished, I called FORD and they said nothing they can do to help. I've to pay out of pocket $2840 CAD for the car that I still owe $12000 CAD.

WTF.

Bought this car used with 88,000 miles on it and it's already given up on me within the first year of owning it. I was 2 hours into a trip to Washington DC and I started to hear a whine coming from the engine. I'm no car guy what-so-ever so I didn't think much of it. I actually thought it was just the turbo or something. Then the high pitch whine became a little deeper of a tone and that's when I suspected something was really wrong. That's when the RPMs would just climb but the car would barely budge. After a mental meltdown, I had it towed to the closest mechanic where I was told I needed a new transmission. After another meltdown and a few calls to the insurance company later, I was told I was sh*t out of luck. I had to tow it back home 150 miles myself with a U-Haul and trailer. It's still broken down outside in my parking spot. Thanks, Ford.

I purchased my Ford Escape brand new with 11 miles on it. I am a single mom and only have one vehicle. I have to commute to work as to why it has high mileage. Most of the miles on my car are hwy miles. I should not have had to worry about the transmission in my 3.5 year old vehicle going out at 82k miles. I was traveling back from out of town with my daughter in tow. It was midnight and thankfully we were 30 miles from home when my car no long would move. I was able to at least move it to the side of the interstate and call roadside. I was also fortunate enough to have someone come pick me up at that time of night.

My gut feeling told me it was the transmission. I looked for the best place in my area to take it. They have completed a diagnostic and said they believe the transmission is so bad they are not even sure they can rebuild it!!! They are quoting me $4200 on a transmission for a piece of crap car I cannot wait to get rid of!! So much for having a safe reliable vehicle for my daughter and I. Not only that I am stuck with having to find transportation to work as I do NOT know how long it will take to fix!!! I have never been so angry in my life.

With no previous warning signs at all, our Ford's transmission failed, leaving us stranded. The RPMS would raise, but the car would barely move. After turning the car off and on again, I had the same problem. Then the transmission would bump, slip, and grind. However, reverse worked just fine. We had the car towed, and will have to pay $3,450 for a new tranny. We had the extended warranty and this happened just 500 miles after it expired. It is frustrating for this to happen, but as I have learned from this website, we are not alone.

Went to put the vehicle in park, took my foot off the brake as you normally would do, then the vehicle automatically moved backwards. The gear shift locked and nothing could engage the gear shift to move. Luckily there was no vehicle behind me! I had to take the keys out and put on the emergency brake.

There should be a recall on these vehicles! I was lucky! From what I'm reading with other complaints this is nothing unusual I'm just glad I was not to far from home and wasn't down in the summer land on holidays! Warning to all Escape owners!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed driving my 2015 Ford Escape up until the transmission failed. I had to stop at the store before heading to work, while driving there I noticed it didn’t want to drive (difficult to accelerate). When I started my car it didn’t want to start, took me two tries. As I left the parking lot the transmission fault light came on. I barely made it into the parking lot at work and parked it. Out of curiosity, I tried to start my car again, I was able to move it front and back half a foot. Leaving work, it did not want to start. Ford did a wonderful job towing my car. Problem was the transmission was junk.

My car sat at Ford for about two months, waiting on parts to be mailed so they could fix the transmission. We questioned what was wrong with the transmission, and we’re told they ordered parts based on what the computer told them. The car was two years old and well taking care of. Lucky for me it was still under warranty. Unfortunately, I have to drive my family around in this car that I don’t trust anymore or feel 100% comfortable with even after it was repaired. Looking forward to it getting paid off and trading it in.

I did learn that Ford had similar problems with other ford escapes around this mileage. I understand things happen, but a recall on Fords part would be a step in the right direction.

I'm a recent single mom of 2 boys. I pulled out a loan against my 401K to have reliable transportation for myself and boys. I had the car for 2 years and started having problems with the transmission. The car does have a lot of miles but that's due to me having to drive to work which isn't close to my residence. I took the car to where I purchased it North County Ford to find out there are several cars in the service department with the same transmission codes. same year make and model. I had just missed my warranty and was told by the dealership that I had to buy a new transmission. I contacted the ford customer service and was told basically that I was f*cked. I've been without a car for going on 3 months now. Paying on a newer car that I can't even f*cking drive. I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed in Ford. My entire family owns a Ford, I was pretty loyal until after this. I will never recommend anyone to buy a Ford. As soon as I can, I'll be trading this in. I would have been ok, if they had fixed their problem.
