I would like to file a complaint about the rearview mirrors on my 1999 eddie bauer Expedition. I noticed before my warranty ran out that they began to show black spots. The maintance department at my local Ford dealership brushed it off as no big deal. After my warranty ran out, I again told the maintance department that the mirrors were worsening. Now after a few years have passed, and speaking to other owners of that specific model, the mirrors are unuseable. I feel that the mirrors are a defect of the manufactorers and think they should be the one to replace them. I have been quoted a price of $400. / mirror for replacement on my part. Please investigate this matter and respond to me.

The mirror coating on the back of the side mirrors on my Ford Expedition is coming off & has been since just after the warranty ran out. It makes using the mirrors questionable at best. It looks like the mirror was sandblasted from behind.

The side view mirrors on the vehicle are becoming unusable. The reflective backing on the mirrors are slowly turning a mottled black for some reason. Also, rear windshield wiper motor wore out.

The exterior rear view mirrors are blackened. I suspect the electric directional signal within is the culprit. The mirrors are useless. I am sure that Ford is aware that this is a pervasive problem, yet they refuse to fix it at their expense, even though it is a safety hazard due to poor manufacturing. I purchased new mirrors which were obviously redesigned at a cost of nearly $400.

Both side rear view mirrors with the turn signal are turning black. In certain spots there is no reflection. At night the visibility is very poor.

When the vehicle was purchased new the consumer noticed that the outside rear view mirrors had black lines and specks in them. The dealer indicated that all the vehicles were like that. Now, some years later, the black film on the back of the glass started wrinkling and the black specks became worse. This defect has caused poor visibility.

I own a '99 Ford Expedition-both of the side mirrors have deteriorated to the point I can barely see out of them during the daytime, and its impossible to see out of them at night. I went back to the Ford dealership and was informed they can't do anything about mirrors deteriorating and to replace both will be $498 a piece plus taxes. I have extended coverage, which state they won't pay for replacement, due to mirrors being considered glass. Service dept at the Ford dealership said that mirrors are not glass and that it's actually reflexor paper or something. I would appreciate if you could look into matter. I have done some research and have found the deterioration of side mirrors on Ford Expedition to be a well documented service problem under the website of recalls. This is my 2nd time trying to get Ford to work with me on this matter.

Side-view mirrors on driver and passenger side have delamination resulting in loss of complete effectiveness of viewing. I took the vehicle to the dealer while the vehicle was under warranty, but they did not replace the mirror citing that the mirror had not reached the replacement stage, now that the vehicle is out of warranty, the mirrors have reached a point that it is difficult at best to see out of them. My cost to replace is 230 per mirror, with no consideration of warranty extension.

This is a manufacturing problem from Ford and should be addressed before this causes a serious accident. I must try to find a way to fix this problem now before it becomes my accident. It appears that something has caused the silver in the mirrors to disintegrate. This is a 1999 Ford Expedition. I have contacted Ford and the local dealer and neither would offer to remedy at their expense since the warranty period had expired.
