Tire suddenly blew out during routine driving, with no warning. A tire technician said it looked like the sidewall failed because it had bulged out and the tire was unrepairable.( dot number: W2T6Z08L tire size: P265/70R17 )

I came home from work and went into the supermarket. When I came out I noticed my right rear tire was almost flat. I put the spare on and the next morning drove up to the local Firestone dealer. The Firestone dealer said there was a hole between the tread and the sidewall and therefore it couldn't be fixed. They (Firestone) told me the tire was not on the recall list so they wouldn't do anything about it. I went to the Ford dealer and they told me the same thing. Later I saw a report on channel 2 in los angeles about yet another Firestone failure and the picture of the hole in the tire they had on tv looked exactly like the hole in my 17" tire. I am suspicious that anything on the road punctured my tire but feel like it was the start of a big problem with the 17" Wilderness AT tires. I bought a Goodyear tire for my spare and today I ordered four Michelin tires. You need to do something about all Wilderness AT tires before more people get injured or killed. Ford and Firestone should be held accountable for this mess. I am sorry I paid $42,000 for a brand new Expedition and less than 7 weeks later have to spend over eight hundred dollars on replacement tires just to feel safe. Do something!!!( dot number: Tire size: P265/70R17 )

There is a "crack/tear" on the upper side wall that I discovered on 8/28/00. I took it to Firestone and was informed that it was caused by road hazard; I don't feel comfortable with Firestone's response and am worried that it is a defective tire. I have not been involved in a crash with this tire but the "crack/tear" on the tire makes me worried about the safety of my vehicle.( dot number: Tire size: P255/70R16 )

This tire is not a part of the national recall, however, the tire was beginning to separate and the local Firestone distributor replaced the tire under the "warranty". Tire less than one week old, traveling midday on freeway at 65 mph with clear unobstructed view ahead, clean dry road, heard loud "pop" come from rear of car, tire flat at exit just a few miles later, Ford dealer declined responsibility, referred us to Firestone dealer who suggested highway hazard puncture even though we protested that no hazard was seen by either person in car, tire dealer tried to repair but bubble on side prevented safe repair, we bought another brand-new tire to replace defective tire( dot number: 027582 tire size: P265/70R17 )

We were traveling on I-40 returning from a trip to Colorado and had a blow out about 20 miles West of weatherford, ok. The tire was on a brand new car with only 4500 miles. We had checked the tires when we left Colorado that morning and they were fine. When the tire blew, the car was very hard to control and pitched side to side wildly. My husband was able to regain control of the car and pull off the road. When road side assistance arrived, the man commented that the tire did not look like a normal blow out and that we should have it checked. I took the car back to the Ford dealership who assured me that there was nothing wrong with the tire other than a normal road hazard (this also prevented me from collecting on the tire warranty). He also was not concerned about how the car reacted to the blown tire. I do not feel that I would have been able to control the car if I had been driving. I was not pleased with the lack of concern about my comments. I spoke to at least 2 friends who can testify under oath that I made comments about my concerns about the quality of the tires and my concern about the lack of control after the tire failed. These comments were made during July 24-28 before any of the current information about Ford and Firestone was made public. I regret that I did not keep the tire that blew. I hope that you will expand your investigation to include all Firestone Wilderness AT tires as well as the Ford Expedition.( dot number: Vncu 1rd 4 tire size: P255/70R16 )

Firestone has issued a recall on only one size of the failing tire, what about the other sizes? the 265 come on my Expedition, it is made with the same design flaw, manufactured at the same factory, why is no one addressing or admitting to anything but the 235. 235's are the most popular size used thus the reason from them showing the leading failure rates. The other size tires are no different, just not used as widely but Firestone will not even consider the possibility or admit other tires are flawed. Please in the interest of my families safety and millions of other look into the failures of other size Firestone Wilderness AT tires that are should be recalled.( dot number: Tire size: P265X16 )

All four tires on vehicle show 'bruising' on sidewall near tread. The two front tires show 'feathering', cracks around sidewall tread. None of the four tires will sustain proper air pressure as required by manufacturer to avoid accident, injury or death. June 6,2000 three tires took 8 psi, one took 10 psi, air to bring pressure to conformity as stated on driver's side door sticker side sticker issued by Ford motor. On July 8, 2000 three tires took 6 psi air, one 8 psi air. On August 8,2000 three tires took 16 psi air, one 18 psi air. This is in accordance with the mfr. Psi of 44.( dot number: W2cu tire size: P255/70R16 )

Firestone recall doesn't address all tires sizes, only one size. I can not see why only one size would be affected. I feel that a total recall of all sizes in the affected series should be done. Anything lees seems to be an attempt by a major business to pacify Washington at the expense of the consumer. Please encourage Firestone and Ford to reconsider this recall. Until this is done, I cannot feel confident transporting my family in my 30 day old, 2000 Ford Expedition with 17" Firestone Wilderness AT tires.( dot number: Tire size: 265R75-17 )

Road conditions: Dry, flat, little to no traffic. On hwy 249 just North of spring cypress, where the hwy ended and became a 4 lane flat hwy. Approximately 4:00-4:30 in the afternoon. Back passenger tire on 2000 Ford expedtion, Firestone Wilderness AT, tread separation causing a blowout, and causing me to veer to the right side of road. Was able to get vehicle safely to shoulder and in the driveway of a Dodge dealership. Approximate speed was around 45-50 mph. No driver error, no road hazard (no rips, tears, punctures, etc. Found on tire) and tire was not over/under inflated. Looked as if someone with a scapel just removed the side flat part of the tire where the lettering is from the tread portion that touches the road. Luckily I was at a speed that I could control in good driving conditions with little traffic in the area, or I could have had a serious accident. I had to use all my strength to keep wheel to the left as the truck continued to go to the right. Firestone dealer did not want to replace for free (as stated under my warranty), but they did eventually. They acknowledged there was no driver error, road hazard, or tire misuse, but refused to state on the receipt the cause was a flawed/faulty tire. Replaced with the same type of tire. Vehicle only 7 months old with around 7000-7500 miles on it at the time. Tread on tire was around an 10-11 I believe the Firestone dealer said. Firestone dealer kept the faulty tire to send to manufacturer for testing.( dot number: )

PE00020, original equipment, 2000 Ford expedation, all four tires pressure keeps lowering, and causing the vehicle to pull to right, and it is very hard to control vehicle. The dealer suggested to inflat front tires to 30 lbs rather than manufacturer's specification and it worked.
