When driving my Ford Expedition would automatically downshift with no warning at high speeds. When doing 55mph it downshifted, and threw me the driver almost into the stirring wheel. At another time it threw my 11 year old son into the dash. It felt like you was getting rear ended with a bad case of whiplash.

The contact owned a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle would automatically downshift and stall when travelling on the highway at 70 mph. The dealer diagnosed that the issue was due to the transmission lead frame and recommended a replacement. The sudden downshift causes the contact's body to slam into the steering wheel and console. There are currently no recalls on the vehicle. The contact would be taking the vehicle to the shop for repairs. Manufacturer has not yet been contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.

Car will downshift to 1st gear, engine RPM will go to 8000, and loss of power. This is a major concern with winter coming on, when one travels on ice or snow and car decides to downshift, guess what, one will wreck!! has been to two dealerships for a total of 23 days and they cant find anything. No codes are stored. Also from time to time when starting all electrical power will come on but no start. Take key out wait a few minutes then key works.

Vehicle suddenly slowed from 35mph to 4mph and wrench light went on. Limped 1 miles to nearest Ford dealer whose svc dept was closed on sat. While waiting for a ride home(60 miles) I restarted vehicle and hour later and drove for 2 miles. All seemed fine but after reading multiple reports of people that attempted to drive in the same circumstances, only to be stranded, I decided to leave it at the dealer. They got to it on Tuesday, and told me no error codes were available, therefore they could not do anything. They drove a 38 mile test with no issues. Since the throttle body problem is well documented on 3.5L engines I believe this is a matter of dealer not being able to get paid from Ford rather than not being able to fix the problem. 60K emission warranty applies vehicle mileage 53K. Reported to Ford customer complaint dept(india) and I have a case #. there has been no recall but there are a lot of cases reported on line on this issue. I believe it is a dangerous conditon that should be taken care of by Ford immediately. Service mgr at another dealership told me it happened to him in the left lane of the freeway- also "we do a lot of them, but Ford won't pay for the repairs without a trouble code.I am picking the vehicle up today and am very concerned about its reliability. I live in reno nv and drive in remote areas frequently, often will no cell service.

During acceleration towards 60mph- 70mph the truck will begin to vibrate a little, then the wrench light comes on. As you settle on a speed the vibration stops unless you have to slow down to speed back up. Once you pull over and turn the truck off for a bit and turn it on the wrench disappears.

While driving highway speed ~65mph on a straight highway vehicle showed wrench light and loss engine power. Driver had to the side of the highway without speed control. Ignition switch was turned off and back on and the wrench light was gone and the vehicle drove normally. The wrench light turned on again at ~40mph on a city street going straight a few days later. The driver again had to pull to the side and reset the ignition to regain accelerator control. Vehicle diagnostic was run and no codes were stored.

Below please find my account of a very frightening event that took place when my 2017 Ford Expedition malfunctioned. In late August, 2018 we were on vacation in seattle, wa., visiting my son and his family. Five of us were in my Expedition and my son was driving. We pulled up to park by his house on a steep road. He put the vehicle into park, applied the parking brake, removed the keys, and proceeded to get out. There were three adults and two children (ages 7 and 4). All three adults got out and were helping the children out when the car rolled forward on its own. I was out of the vehicle on the passenger side. I tried to hold the door handle to stop the vehicle from rolling but it took off. My son who was outside of the vehicle also realized what was happening, jumped back in, and applied the brakes to stop the car. It rolled about 12 feet downhill before he could stop it. The two children were still in it. The street was on a very steep incline that I would guess to be about 25 degrees. If my son had not stopped the car it could have rolled about 100 yards through two intersections and into a house with the two children in it. I don't even want to think about what could have happened to them. We took the Expedition to a Ford dealership in seattle (Ford of kirkland) to get it checked out. They stated that they could not find anything wrong. After returning home from vacation, we took it to the local dealership (bolton Ford, lake charles, la. Where it was purchased new) and they said that they could find nothing wrong. What do I do now" can Ford explain what happened and reassure me that it will not happen again"

2017 Ford Expedition. Car was running normal, cruising at 45mph on city street, then unexpected loss of throttle, causing immediate deceleration. Accelerator no longer responding to input. Wrench light came on; had to coast to a stop with traffic coming fast behind me. Shut off car and restarted it, and was able to drive it to the dealership. Dealer replaced faulty electronic throttle body.

Vehicle was pulled 3/4 into the garage with the back wheels on the approach of the driveway. Vehicle was put into park and shut off. I returned to the garage 10 minutes later to find the vehicle had rolled down the driveway, striking a tree causing significant damage. Vehicle was found to be in park and started up without any problems. In the last couple of days I have noticed inconsistency with the vehicle's shifter when placing it in park. I have seen it get hung up between reverse and park. This is a brand new fleet vehicle with 1049 current miles. It just went into service on July 5th.

Vehicle lost power while driving (in motion) on highway. No engine power, loss of steering control. Only 1,400 miles on vehicle from new. Dealer service indicated ground wire broke to PCM power control module. Caused fuse 77 to short open.
