The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle and while driving at various speeds, there was a grinding and rattling sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rattling was coming from the cam phaser. The independent mechanic related the failure to NHTSA ID Number: 0201090 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and it was confirmed the vehicle was not included in NHTSA ID Number: 0201090 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was 79,427.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective oil pump. Additionally, the contact was also informed that the cam phasers were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
