PE00-020: Was driving approximately 35mph when tire blew. Checked the Firestone wilderness tire P275/75R16 & tread had separated from rear left tire. Took vehicle to Firestone tire shop & had the tire replaced. Do not have the tire.

Consumer bought 4 Firestone ATX tires from a friend, and after maybe a year consumer started to experience a problem he thought was front alignment because vehicle was wobbling on the road, took to dealer, and dealer noticed a bulge in driver's side front tire. Dealer advised consumer that tread was seperating. Consumer then remembered hearing about problem, and felt this situation was unsafe.

While consumer was coming back from the airport she heard vibrating noises coming from inside of vehicle. She got out of vehicle to check the tires. Got back into vehicle, decreased speed, and noticed more trembling and vibrating noises. She proceeded to pull over to the shoulder, and noticed that tread came off passenger's tire. Also, the tire tread damaged metal part of the bumper.

While traveling 70mph heard loud noise, left rear wheel froze. Vehicle veered to left over 2 lanes & then right over 2 lanes. Spun around & was facing oncoming traffic. Went backwards & hit a culvert. Took off & was air borne. Landed upside down. Unlocked seat belt & crawled out. Police and emergency vehicle arrived. Informed consumer that tire tread separated & wrapped around axle. Vehicle totaled. Tires were Firestone radial axt. The consumer stated that he didn't get any kind of reimbursement for the tires and no offer of settelement from Ford Motor Company.
