I was in a car accident on June 16, 2000, with a passanger. We swerved to miss a deer on a gravel road and lost control of the Explorer. I was unaware of any problems with the Explorer at the time, and now since the tire recall, I beleive the tires may have blown when I "fishtailed". there was a similar accident to mine in minneapolis, 100 mies South of me, over the July 4th weeekend. I would like any information I could. My insurance company handled everything wonderfuly, but I was wondering if I or geico ins., could recover any losses or damages from the Bridgestone, Ford, or other. I broke my collarbone in the accident from my seatbelt, and have a very visible lump on my shoulder from it. I also have permenant scars on my hand from glass that broke. Not to mention I almost killed my friend and myself. My airbags did not go off either. Any help, comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kraig( dot number: Tire size: P235/75R15 )

Tire center said could not fix as they said the tire did not have a hole but went "bad". tire looked normal on outside so I originally though I had a flat. Had tire replaced with same brand, size, and model. About same time towed a small jet ski trailer around town for a couple of days. First time the truck towed anything. Took tire to dealer first but dealer said they don't fix flats and did not look at the tire. Did not lose control of truck when tire went flat. Thanks.( dot number: Tire size: P235-75R15 )

Noticed cracks along rim of tire where tread appears to be beginning to come appart. Have shown tire to a Firestone store and Ford dealer and both agree that it doesn't look right. Had dealer put on spare tire. We noticed this after hearing about problems with these tires on the news. I believe we noticed this earlier but didn't realize it could be a serious problem. The nearest Firestone company store is over 60 miles away. Sure don't feel comfortable driving that far to get them replaced. Also, the dealer told us it was a problem with the manufacturer and gave us an 800 number to call Firestone (where you got a recorded message) and even though the dealer new there was a safety issue with this tire, they charged us $15 to put the spare on. Sheesh. Thanks for keeping us all informed of safety issues.( dot number: Tire size: P235/75 15 )

Tire blew out at 70 mph. Husband was driving thank god, I would have rolled the truck. I hurt my back while bracing myself, my children were also in the vehicle. The dealer told us to call Firestone, Firestone insisted nothing was wrong with our tires. He said he could not tell why the tire blew out. He also said nothing was going to be done about it.( dot number: Tire size: 15R )

I barely escaped crashing my car as I lost control due to the tire going flat at a high rate of speed. I went to nearest tire dealer and replaced all tires at a cost of $400. I called the dealership where I purchased the car and they told me to call Firestone. I did and they told me to call back later. I am hoping they will help reimburse me for the costs of the new tires. Please advice me if there is anything else I can do to recover some costs. Thank you. Kathy post( dot number: )

I had a flat tire driving at 45 mph - aired tire up to find hole and the tire was split in the middle and bubbled around the edge of about 1/2 of the tire. I think Firestone should do something about this. I'm nervous to drive the car now. I don't want my family harmed in any way. No amount of money would replace one of them.( dot number: Tire size: 15 )

On June 17, 1999 my wife, infant daughter and I were returning from vacation in our 1999 Ford Explorer entering atlanta, ga traveling West on I-20 merging into the I-85 / I-75 connector when the right rear tire blew out. The vehicle was extremely difficult to handle. Due to heavy traffic conditions and loss of control I had to bring the vehicle to a halt on the inside hov lane. I did not hit any debris on the road and it was clearly visible that the side wall of the tire had blown out. The traffic conditions were so hazardous that it took an atlanta, fulton county police officer with siren, flashing lights and horn to move my vehicle to the other side of the highway to get us clear of oncoming traffic. I had the vehicle towed to a Goodyear dealership and the manager confirmed that the tire had blown out from the inside. I took the tire to the Firestone dealer and the manager insisted that we had hit something in the road. I made it clear that we had not hit anything in the road and that I would take the matter up with the Ford Motor Company and my attorney. With that statement the manager agreed to replace the tire free of charge. I became suspicious with that quick turn around and contacted Ford Motor Company and they denied any knowledge of issues with Firestone tires. I am incensed that Firestone and Ford knowingly jeopardized my family by replacing this defective tire with another Firestone wilderness tire. I have again contacted Ford Motor Company after the recent press release about Firestone's issues with wilderness tires on Ford Explorer and once again they told me they could do nothing until they recalled the tires. I'm not sure which way to turn on this issue and I am seeking your advice on how to get this issue addressed. I do not want these tires on my Explorer. I now have no reason to trust Firestone or the Ford Motor Company in this matter. Your guidance and counsel will be greatly appreciated.( dot number: Tire size: P255/70R16 )
