I need some assistance. I have contacted Bridgestone/Firestone on several occasions and other than a list of faqs I can get no one to respond. I live in germany, the driving conditions here are vastly different to the us (speed wise) and I need to know how this affects the tires on my car. I have been told by the local aafes garage that they're ok, but they'd recommend changing them anyway! I drive approximately 45 highway miles each day to and from work at speeds seldom less than 90 mph. Are these tires safe, is there any type of "plan" in place to take into account the different driving conditions? many of us are concerned that the safety of our families and ourselves is in serious jeopardy. This is the exact concern I have expressed to the tire company, followed by two more requests that they either answer our questions or put us in touch with someone who can. I feel that because we are overseas serving our country, we're "out of sight, out of mind". please help.

1st incident Firestone tire blew out at 2000 mi. Contacted Ford dlr...said nothing they could do it was a Firestone problem. Then went to Firestone dlr in lebanon, mo..said no warranty nothing they could do! had to buy new tire cost $105. I then called Ford mtr. Co. rep. Said not their problem. Informed them tires no good should last 2000 mi. Refused to discuss. 2nd incident was approx. 100 mi. Later, the next month. That tire came apart. Belt broke loose from tire. Decided too dangerous not taking chance. We were forced to 4 different brand tires @105.00 each. We now have 3 new Firestone tires sit in drive. To dangerous to even give away. No help from Ford dealer, or Ford mtr co., or Firestone. Now, the world is finding out what we already knew but paid for new to save lives. We want our money. Ford and Firestone we feel responsible but are thankful no death. Thank you. Danny J. wilson. (dot number: Vdcu-1px tiresize: 255/70R16)

Additional to ODI number 732801, not only that the side wall, where the tread meets looked funny, the tread of the tires started to wear funny. This also goes as well as the 2 front tires, were the tread was starting to wear funny, and on the other side of the tires all of the tires where the dot number is located that looked funny, and if I would have kept them on my Explorer Sport would have had a blow out too. Just to let you know that I do have my tires rotated in the spring every year. (dot number: 8xhl359 tiresize: 235/R75/15)

This is a spare tire, on my Ford Explorer Sport where the sidewalls, and were the tread of the tires meets, started looking funny. Also the tread of the tire was wearing funny. If I would have kept this and if I had a blow out I would have had another blow out with this spare. (dot number: 8xhl319 tiresize: 235/R75/15)

The 2 tires on the back of my Ford Explorer Sport where the side walls, and were the tread of the tires meets, started looking funny. If I would have kept those tires on my Explorer Sport in about 3 to 5 months they would have started to separate. Therefore I feel it is best to have them replaced. So I went up to Goodyear's tire and order 5 new tires for my Explorer Sport and had the Firestone "Wilderness AT" taking off. I will take the Wilderness AT tires up to Firestone this weekend (09/30/00). (dot number: 8xhl359 tiresize: 235/R75/15)

Had my tires checked at Firestone but did not feel comfortable, did not see the tires myself. I felt very unsafe driving my own new vehicle, so I went to a place that my son knows the people very well. Goodyear. While the truck was up on the mount, I inspected the tires myself and had notice something on the sidewall facing the inside truck. It was on all the tires sidewall. And outer wall. Looks like cracking and peeling. Also the outer wall on the outside of the truck is turning a funny color. When I asked someone to look at them, a good friend, they said it was the belts ready to give way. The gentlemen at Goodyear, was very concerned for my safety and that of my family. They replaced my tires of course I paid for them. They took the time to mark the reciept of the purchase with the damage of the tires. I then went to Firestone and showed them, they told me it was heat damage and could not do anything about it. I then took them to where I had purchased the truck and was told that it was tire dressing and mold. So I preceeded to go to the corporate store where I was told that it was rubberized paint. My tires were and still are unsafe and have defaults. I believe that I am entitled to reimbursement for the 5 tires. I was not about to put Firestone tires back on my truck. I would not have felt any better.( dot number: 8xhl tire size: P235/75R15 )

I own a new Ford Explorer with the "brand description" of the currently recalled Firestone tire, although it did not have the code on the inside of the tire stating that it came specifically from the distribution location currently in question. Two weeks ago my right rear tire came completely apart. After much misinformation from Ford and Firestone, channel 4 news took the story and helped get Ford to pay attention to my case. They agreed to pick up the car and replace all four tires for me. The day after the story aired on tv Ford (don mclean specifically) called and said that they had changed their minds and were no longer going to replace my tires because they did not come from that specific location. Still the tire seperated from my car and essentially making us aware that the problem does not exist solely with the Illinois plant. I am a single mother of two little girls and Ford and Firestone have gone back on their word leaving once again to drive a car with defective tires. I would appreciate your assistance and sincerely hope that you will take this seriously. People with that brand tire, with the "code" or not, should not drive their car. Sincerely, tammy haladwala.( dot number: Tire size: P23575R15S )
