Door sensor keeps beeping informing me the doors are not closed, , when they are. Annoying beeping continues when driving every time I step on the brakes. This has gone on for over a month now.

The door ajar light (drivers door) indicates on dash and beeps even though the door is closed. Interior lights stay on making it hard to see at night. Interior lights stay on after leaving vehicle for several minutes thinking the door is open, running down battery. Vehicle's alarm system activates continuously as it thinks the door is open. Vehicle still under warranty and Ford dealer replaced left front door latch assembly part # dg1Z-5421813-a.

I purchased my 2013 Ford Explorer two years ago. It has approximately 16,000 miles. On September 23, 2014 I couldn't start my car. I had the auto club jump the battery and then took it in immediately to my mechanic to replace the battery. Upon examination, he determined that the positive battery terminal had excessive corrosion and the corrosion was so bad that the battery clamp had totally eroded. This required not only replacement of the battery but the battery cables. The mechanic explained that the entire cabling mechanism would cost approximately $400 and that the labor would be extensive because of the way Ford engineered the connection. (the mechanic had to disassemble various components in the engine area to make the connection). The entire cost of replacing the battery was over $1,000. Also, I was informed this is not under warranty. The mechanic also told me he became aware of others who had the same problem and in one case the battery exploded. Thankfully that didn't happen in my case. I've had several Explorer over the years as well as other makes and models and I have never had a battery that corroded to this extent and certainly not in a vehicle just 2 years old. I maintain my vehicle regularly and was shocked that this had occurred. I wonder if Ford has designed this entire battery failure and configuration so as to create more repair business. While no injury occurred with me, it is perhaps just a matter of time before someone does encounter a dangerous situation..

Steering power support stopped without warning during a turn at lower speed. Car became almost impossible to control (turn or steer). Fault lights included stability, traction, and environmental control errors came on as the steering power support terminated. Fuse and mechanism were undamaged. Turning the car on and off did not remove the fault. Vehicle did this another 3 times, including one at high speed of 70 mph on highway in fat left lane. Had to allow for vehicle to merge across 4 lanes of interstate traffic to shoulder and eventually slow down. All components of vehicle then turn off and multiple attempts to turn off and on vehicle are required with prolonged terms of vehicle being left off.

The first thing I noticed was that the car felt like it was sputtering and running roughly. When I came to a stop light, it ran really rough and just died. It started back up and I was able to drive it home. Not knowing if the problem was just a fluke or not, I drove it the next day. After having gone about 8 miles, it did the same thing again. The engine runs rough and then just dies. It also happened to my husband as he left our neighborhood. It started to die on him but he put it in neutral and gave it gas. He took it to the local Lincoln Mercury (bayway) on gulf freeway in houston, tx. They kept it for almost 3 days, could not find anything wrong and one of the service managers drove it the last day and it never happened to him so problem was not found. Today as I was traveling down the gulf freeway (I-45) service road I slowed down for a light, the car sputtered and died while sitting at the light. The car was hard to start up and I was able to get it going and trying to drive it to mcree Ford where I bought it last summer. It stalled and I had to have it towed to dealership. Last week when I was driving around in it, the whole A/C system turned off and it started blowing hot air. All the A/C lights had gone out. Don't know if that was part of a problem or not.

My 2013 Ford Explorer (limited) spontaneously locked while my 9 month old daughter was in the car with the keys. My wife had just put my daughter in the car with her purse, which had the vehicle keys inside. After she closed the door to walk to the driver's side, the vehicle locked, and would not open. All published vehicle owner's manuals/documentation clearly state that this should never happen. Further, the vehicle has built in mechanisms to safeguard against this scenario which also failed. With the keys in the vicinity of the car, you should be able to touch the door handle to unlock the vehicle. Nothing we tried would unlock the car. We live in a hot climate, so the car was well over 120 degrees. We called the fire department to break in (broken window, and door). After bringing this up with Ford, they've done nothing to fix the problem. They claim it's not their fault, or responsibility to investigate further, and there is nothing they can do. I was lucky help was close by, however, under different circumstances, this could have been far more tragic.

The contact a owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that rodents were destroying the wires under the hood. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the wire installation was made from soy beans, which was attracting the rodents. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

Dear NHTSA, I have recently purchased a Ford Explorer limited 2013 model about 3 months ago. Since I have purchased this vehicle I have noticed that the mytouch system has constant glitches and causing distractions while driving. Yesterday I started the vehicle and the entire screen was out including the backup sensors and camera. I have contacted Ford and the dealership but they do not seem to be very responsive. I will be taking this vehicle to the dealership tomorrow however I find this to be a safety issue as my wife relies on the camera and sensors when parking a vehicle.

Driving vehicle and cross traffic system failure turns on, advancetrac system failure, stability control failure and traction control failure occur. Vehicle begins to decelerate and transmission goes from an illuminated "D" to blank. Very hard to maneuver vehicle. Vehicle struggles to gain speed afterwards. The only resolution I have found is to pull over if possible and turn on vehicle and restart. This has happened 4 times in the past two weeks.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled as the back-up camera failed with the illumination of the low oil pressure warning light. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the back-up camera wiring needed to be replace but the dealer was unable to duplicate the stalling problem. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

After entering a highway my horn honked and the message "no key detected" appeared. The vehicle never died but this has happened over a dozen times. I have had it in the shop, where the same concern was duplicated, and was told that it is some sort of interference with the radio frequency of the keys, they said that anything from phones to charges could cause this and that it is normal and I would have to live with it. On 1/17/13 and again on 2/11/13 after pushing the button to turn the car off the auxiliary power came on. I was told this is okay and that the power would eventually turn itself off. 5/16/2013 this was the second time I noticed that my radio had shut itself off. I turned the car on and the radio was off, I know I did not turn this off when I turned the car off.

On multiple occasions the navigation system has gone "off route" while driving to a destination. Off route means the gps is still displayed but the marker is moved off to the side of the route on the map. This indicates to the system that it is "off route" and starts displaying messages and additional directions. This is a serious distraction and has almost caused accidents between trying to watch for the traffic signs and follow or correct the re-route. When contacting corporate Ford, they are aware of the issue; however, we are told there is nothing they will do to correct it. This is a serious issue that is affecting a number of their vehicles and they do not believe that it is serious enough to warrant a fix at this time.

As I was turning left at a light, my power steering went out completely in the car. I looked down at the instrument panel and it was bright yellow and said advance trac failure. It was very difficult for me to control the SUV and it took every ounce of upper body strength in me to pull into a parking lot. I barely avoided a head on collision with another SUV as I turned into the lot. I pulled into the back of the lot and put the SUV in park and turned it off. Upon turning it back on the power steering was working again. I was very shook up since I had my 6 year old daughter with me as well. I hope someone looks into what is causing this to happen. My brand new car is at the local Ford dealership and when I dropped it off this morning I was told that they have never heard of such a thing happening to anyone.
