My truck was parked on my driveway, and had not been driven in about 2wks. I didn't even think that the battery had a charge. My [xxx] wife and a salesman and I just happened to be standing a few feet away having a conversation, when we smelled wires burning. I quickly raised the hood of the truck to see the plug wires connected to the brake master cylinder smoking. At that time I of course disconnected it. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The vehicle was parked in front of our house and had not been driven for several hours before it caught fire. I was in the back yard with my wife when we heard the explosion and we ran to see what it was. When I got to the front of the house the vehicle was already destroyed. The hood had melted and the explosion was the left front tire exploding from the heat coming from under the hood. The fire department came and put out the fire. This was a total loss.

My Ford 4.6L Triton engine keeps blowing sparkplugs out of motor. I replaced it the first time but now it has done it again. I am reading that this is a common problem with this engine.

Our 2000 F150 pickup exploded after being parked for approximately 36 hours. The recall on the cruise control had supposedly been replaced at a Ford dealership a couple of years earlier. My husband and I were out of town at the time but fortunately my mother was home and heard the big boom and called 911 for the fire department. She then went down to our house and used a garden hose to keep the grass and surronding area wet so that our home would not catch on fire. The vehicle was a total loss but thankfully my husband wasn't driving it when it happened and my mom was at home to help prevent our house from catching fire also. We feel blessed that all we lost was the truck and not our home or life. The truck was in excellent shape and well maintained. This incident makes us wonder if the Ford dealership actually replaced the part under recall.

I was traveling in neutral, downhill, at about 40mph through a shallow turn as I was exiting a highway. When I put the truck in 4th gear to accelerate, I had no power. The tachometer was at zero and I tried to turn on the hazard lights and begin braking, both failed to work. I had no lights or any other electrical power (it was daylight) I downshifted and turned to ease off the road, I had no power steering, then the steering wheel locked. I halted the truck with the E brake once I was slow enough and on the edge of the road. I tried to restart it several times but nothing would happen. The truck had zero electrical power. After about 15 minutes it started back up as if nothing was wrong. When I got it to john elway Ford in denver co, the mechanics said the computer didn't log any errors and there was nothing they could do. I contacted Ford and they refused to do anything. I contacted the BBB and they just reiterated Ford policy. The problem has never been fixed since no one can find the reason for it. It has happened one other time to me in 2007 (I think).

My 2000 Ford F150 was sitting in my parents driveway as we were visiting. We heard a loud noise but couldn't figure out what it was. When I looked out the window, I saw my truck on fire. My dad got a hose and I called 911 and between dad and the firemen, the fire was put out without hitting the other vehicles nearby or the garage. The F150 is totaled with the hood totally gone and the engine, electrical and other components in the compartment burned up as well as the front windshield and the dashboard. This could have been more serious as I was just about to leave to take my 5 year-old niece home w/my 9 year-old daughter.

The starter motor was engaging while the engine was running with the key in the run position. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. The heater blower, parking lights, dash light and gauges, key chime, and radio would turn on and off by themselves without a key in the ignition. According to the Ford dealer, this was all caused by water leaking in from the windshield causing the fuse block and GEM module to short out. They said it was a common occurrence with windshield leaks on 2000 Ford F-150's. they had to remove the windshield and reseal it and replace starter, fuse block, and GEM module. This windshield was also resealed 2 weeks after buying this vehicle brand new from the dealer in 2000.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact has been experiencing multiple electrical system failures. The locks and windshield wipers worked sporadically or would not work when the switch was activated. The heater in the vehicle would also work randomly. The volume in the radio would increase while he attempted to turn it down. He called a dealer and the mechanic discovered NHTSA campaign id number 00V072000 (electrical system:fuses and circuit breakers), but it only applied to the Ford Explorer. The contact was experiencing the same failure as noted in the recall. The vehicle is being taken to the dealer on January 5, 2009 for a diagnosis. The failure mileage was 145,000 and current mileage was 150,000.

My 2000 Ford F-150 burned to a crisp last night. I had driven the vehicle and parked it in my driveway and was inside putting the groceries away when I heard a "boom" outside and when I ran out I observed a fired from the engine compartment. It appears to me that the vehicle is totaled. There was some minor damage to my residence and I now have a really cool looking garbage can from the heat of the fire. Friends informed me today that there have been numerous recalls, and similar incidents, but I have not heard about any recalls. What can I do about this besides contacting my insurance company(s)?

We have fallen victim to Ford's compartment fire issue. From everything we have just researched, it appears our F150 caught on fire around 5 am Sunday July 30. It had been parked since 10:30 pm. In trying to research this bizaare incident, I discovered their recall which I never received. I have owned the vehicle since 2001. I have not had any prior problems with the vehicle, which is why I found this so bizaare to wake up at 5 am to my wife yelling "your truck is on fire!". luckily, I have never been motivated to clean our garage so we could park inside. However, our home did suffer damage to the siding. Ford is not being aggressive in ensuring this is being handled.
