Ea 05-005/engine compartment fires: After the vehicle was parked in front of the consumer's home for approximately 30-45 minutes, the vehicle caught on fire under the hood. The local fire department arrived to extinguish the fire. The insurance investigator determined that the fire was due to an electrical short. The dealer was notified. Cruise control issue.

My client detected blinking in the cruise control of his Ford 150 truck in August 2004 and informed the dealer. Later that month the fuse burned out. In October 2004 his vehicle burned totally while parked at his home after midnight. The fire department and the state police were called. Ford credit demanded vehicle be paid in full even though hey knew by November of the recall.my clients names are carlos andujar and mario Sierra of manat, puerto rico

The consumer extinguished the fire and the local fire department arrived to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. The fire marshal and the insurance adjuster believed the fire was started by an electrical source. The dealer was notified, but the manufacturer representative have not arrived at this time.

The tire on the drivers side was burned worse than the passenger side. Prior to fire no problems with the vehicle. Vehicle had cruise control but have never used it not even once. Parked the vehicle in garage at 6:30 pm. At 7:00 pm heard a loud popping noise from garage. Opened door and saw flames and smoke. The flames were coming from under the hood of the car. The fire appears to have come from the drivers side. Insured by allstate margaret daniells 281-618-5306. Pronet investigated the fire contact abby david 800-216-7268. Three months prior to the fire had gone to bank and the electical controls were going crazy and the brake lights stopped working. Had it towed to dealer who said they replace the battery. The consumer did not remeber using the cruise control and do not know if it worked. Fire spread to the house.

While driving for 1/2 hour and parked for 1 hour at store smelled smoke. Opened hood slightly candle sized flame at scds attached to master cylinder broke out. Fire grew after hood opened. Brake fluid resevoiur was on fire. Smothered fire with towels. Had vehicle towed to gas station. Drove around home slowly with brakes that still remained on. Bought new master cylinder fom junk yard.....akso, cruise control was melted.

Fire originated in vehicle while parked and running. Owner had parked vehicle and exited it to open a gate. Smelled smoke and observed smoke issuing from under lr hood. Observed a small fire at the location of the cruise control de-activation switch. Fire propogated rapidly and ultimately caused heavy damage to vehicle.

Ford F150 4X4 sport extended cab 5.4L V8 electrical failure caused engine to spontaneously combust into roaring flames. Truck was a total loss. Truck was not running nor being attempted to start at the time. Truck had not been driven for 8 hours prior to the fire. Ford Motor Co will do nothing to correct or even discuss this problem. They claim their is not a problem with this truck despite the 179 technical service bulletins on the truck and the numerous times spontaneous combustion of this vehicle has been reported to the us dept of trans.
