While parked the vehicle caught on fire without warning. The cause has yet to be determined. No injuries reported. The consumer was unaware that the switch was part of an upcoming recall therefore he replaced the part himself. The consumer contacted the dealer and manufacturer but neither of them have provided any assistance.

The fire department was immediately contacted and extinguished the fire. The fire originated from under the hood on the driver's side. The insurance company was going to inspect the vehicle to determine what caused the fire. A fire report was filed. It was determined per inspection that the fire originated from the cruise control.

The vehicle was parked in the driveway for about 4 hours when the owner looked out the window and saw flames coming from the engine compartment. She didn't use the cruise control, so she wasn't sure if it quit working or not. #2 and #14 fuses were blown and #13 was not blown.
