Vehicle caught on fire unexpectedly while it was parked. Results showed that there was a short within cruise control wire. Manufacturer was contacted by owner.

Vehicle would suddenly accelerated uncontrollably while driving. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle. Drove vehicle to the dealer, and mechanic determined that cruise control switch cables were burned, and needed to be replaced.

F-150 caught fire after being parked for 1 1/2hours. Did damage to our car parked next to it and our house. There was no warning of any danger with the vehicle or anything wrong with it. It is our understanding that cruise controls on the F-150's are a problem, and why have they not been recalled to prevent damage and injury" is there any significant similar problems experienced by others"

Husband drove to work 7 miles, parked vehicle at 7:20 am, then at 10:30 am received a call, telling him that vehicle was on fire. Someone put the fire out with an extinguisher. Vehicle was not totaled. Prior to fire there were no problems with vehicle. Bought vehicle used. Tried to use cruise control, but could not get it to work. Not sure if working or not. Vehicle was insured by nationwide. Adjuster george alexander 888-593-2432, extension 13, policy number 7709P499619. Nationwide may have done an investigation. Have copies of work orders to repair the vehicle, and will fax them to bruce york.

Husband parked truck about 12:00 am and at about 3:00 pm he saw white smoke coming from hood area on the driver's side. Then, vehicle burst into flames. Three days prior to the fire, cruise control stopped working. No other problems with the vehicle. Will send pictures to bruce york.

The vehicle caught on fire while parked in the garage. The consumer was alerted to the fire by the child who heard the horn blowing. The fire department was immediately contacted and extinguished the fire. The fire originated from under the hood on the driver's side. The insurance company was going to inspect the vehicle to determine what caused the fire. A fire report was filed. It was determined per inspection that the fire originated from the cruise control.

The vehicle was parked in the driveway for about 4 hours when the owner looked out the window and saw flames coming from the engine compartment. She didn't use the cruise control, so she wasn't sure if it quit working or not. #2 and #14 fuses were blown and #13 was not blown. The owner stated that she saw the wires for the speed control deactivation switch connector arcing immediately after the fire was extinguished. Pictures forwarded to bruce york.

The cause of the fire is belived to be the scds (speed control disengagement switch). Fire damaged truck and edge of carport.

At 8:15, I was called to the front of the building because my truck had started on fire and was being put out with a fire extinguisher by the school police officer. The insurance company believes the fire was caused by my cruise control (had not worked in three to four months). Caused $5,123 worth of damage to the truck.
