My first Ford F150 had a engine fire as a result of the faulty brake fluid switch. I was told this truck was not part of the recall and didn't have this problem by Ford customer service when I called to report it. Since then the recall was expanded. My current Ford F150 has a leaky brake fluid switch and my cruise control doesn't work. This switch is the one that was put on by Ford after I brought it in for the recall. Ford said this is not an additional recall. I am concerned that this will result in another fire and then unfortunately be recalled later. There are numerous articles online about brake fluid leaks continuing to cause fires in Ford vehicles. Please help me resolve this simple problem now before it becomes a large problem. P.S. I choose "fireball" in equipment because I didn't see Ford listed as the manufacturer.

Vehicle was parked after fueling with key off and removed the brake master cylinder spontaneously caught fire, this occurred 45 minutes after the vehicle was parked and shut off. The fire was caught in time to not cause severe damage, the master cylinder with attached plugs/harnesses and close proximity parts were melted. The fire department responded and claimed the fire was caused by a faulty cruise control plug on the master cylinder, that was under recall.

When accelerating at higher freeway speeds, the accelerator sticks and does not disengage. Only after kicking or perfectly knocking it with your foot will it disengage. This occurs both with and without the cruise control on.

On two occasions, my 2001 Ford F150 (5.4 engine, auto, 4WD) has had the throttle accelerator "stick" during acceleration. The first occasion occurred in February 2010, and the second occurred May 28, 2010 at approximately 10:45 am cst. On both occasions, I was accelerating from a stop at an intersection. On the first occasion, multiple attempts were made to pump the brakes and also the accelerator, when these actions did not respond to the problem, I shifted into neutral and turned of the ignition, and pulled over onto the shoulder of the road. On the second occasion, the same attempt was made, pumping the brake and accelerator pedal; after several seconds and many depressions of the brake and accelerator, I made one final, very fast depression of the brake, which resulted in a noticeable "clunk" sound and accompanying jarring sensation, similar to something disengaging. After this, the truck returned to normal operating conditions. No "check engine" indication was noted before or after either of these occasions of "stuck" accelerator. Fortunately, on both occasions, traffic was very light. If traffic had been heavier, a collision would have been likely to occur.

I drive a 2001 Ford F150 ext. Cab 4X4, 5.4 Triton motor.throttle has stuck wide open on 2 different occasions when passing a car, on 11/27/09 throttle stuck once & 4/2/10 throttle stuck twice. Turned off cruise control no effect. Mashing on brakes as hard as I can doesn't even slow it down until I turn ignition off & put it in neutral & start slamming the gas pedal until it releases. In the meantime my girlfriends freaking out until I finally get all under control. Thought it was cruise control but it stuck when cruise control was off. Don't no who to contact. My 2001 F150 throttle speeds up intermittently. Never sure when it will do it or how high it will go. The highest record so far is about 2600 RPM. I normally put it in neutral, pull to the side, turn off and restart the truck and all works well again. Ford garage has looked at it and stated (nothing they can do until it codes or does it in their presence). I still have to drive it but I do not lend it out to anyone. I am just wondering when and if it will ever tach full speed and really get me in a jam.

The contact owns a 2001 Ford F150. While entering a parking space the vehicle rapidly accelerated backwards. Even after repeated brake application the vehicle would not stop. She attempted to move forward, but the vehicle rapidly accelerated forward. She removed the key from the ignition to stop the vehicle. Consequently, she caused damage to six parked vehicles. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer replaced the hcu ABS brake system and the iac. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.

On October 7th my Ford F-150 started on fire and burned under the hood. I had taken my truck from one side of town to the other about 12 miles. I parked and started to unload some tools out of it and went inside. After about 5 minutes the man I was talking to said what is going on with your truck it is smoking. I ran out to the truck and smoke was billowing out of the hood up the windshield and sides. I pop the hood and flames shot out about 4 foot up from the engine compartment. I was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher and a bucket of water from nearby, just plain luck. I had contacted the fire department as the fire was burning and they came out to make sure everything was alright. The tow truck driver came the next day and said this looks like a Ford fire so that brings me here. I need to start a complaint and find out where I find a person to investigate the cause of this fire.

On 7/10/09 (Friday) my Ford 2001 F150 supercrew was parked at my residents around 7:30pm. About 30 mins. After the vehicle was turned off, smoke began to come out of the hood, drivers side. It smoked for about 5-10 mins. I lift the hood and saw the wires and connection plug to the speed control deactivation switch was still smoldlering. After it cold down I disconnected the plug from the switch (the total damage at this time seems to be the faulty speed control deactivation switch, the switch connection plug and some wires leading up to the plug). On 7/13/09(Monday)I had the vehicle towed to my local mechanic to inspect and repair the damage.I also placed a claim with my insurance co..along with calling the nears Ford dealer(about 50 miles away) and got a "will call you back" answer, also they were suppose to have disconnected the switch three years prior when I had the vehicle in to them for routine maintenance ( I was sent a notice of recall from Ford Motor Corp. Along with the dealers computer flagging it too for this problem), I also called Ford's 800 customer service hotline and filed a report with them (they said I did not have to take the vehicle to the dealer since I had already filed a insurance claim and had it already towed to a repair shop. As of 5:00 pm pst, on 7/13/09 I am waiting for my insurance agent to look at the vehicle and authorize repair. I am having the repair shop save the old parts.

2001 Ford F150 caught on fire outside my house yesterday. It had been parked for about 45 mins. To an hour. It looks like most of the heat damage is on the drivers side part of the vehicle. The fire department finally came and put out the fire. Damage was contained to the engine and the outside of the vehicle that was submitted to the higher temperatures. The inside has a strong smell of burnt plastic.

Just got home and parked my truck. I left 15 minutes later in my other vehicle. While I was gone (approx. 20 minutes later) my truck caught on fire. Looks like the cruise control switch on the brake master cylinder, which is a Ford recall. My neighbors put out the fire. This is the first action I have taken.

2001 Ford F150 truck has a recall for the cruise control harness. The consumer stated the cruise control harness was replaced under recall, but at the time of replacement, the switch was not leaking, but now it is leaking. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer, but was told the recall was closed out and there was nothing they could do but charge him to fix it.

On sat March 7, 2009 T aprox 12:30 am my 2001 Ford F-150 pick up burst into flames while parked in my driveway. It had been parked for about 3 hours prior to the fire. The fire caught my home on fire. Myself and my 8 year old son as well as our 4 dogs were in the house sleeping. Throttle sticks after steady driving in cold/snow because of Ford's poor design, they even state it in Ford article no. 01-21-5. has happened may times to me. I just finally got an answer to the problem. The fix is over $500, and I don't have the money. It is their poor design, this just does not seem fair. I have had several close calls due to this problem, there really should be a recall on this.

What good is it to respond to a recall of a F150 cruise control when they don't have the parts and you have to make 3-4 trips to get the work done. Then they say they have the part but don't do the work and your back again.....I'm a long time Ford customer but this is ridiculous...then your Agency urges motorists to respond to the recall....how about kicking those Ford execs in their pockets.
