Rear right window fall down inside door while I was driving on the freeway and the left rear window did the same thing in April of this year, I had the first one repaired for about $300. Ford has a defective window regulator.

I have been changing out my regulators for my F-150 5.4 liter XLT 2005 since 2008. Total amount of times is up to three and today 08-16-2010 my driver side window is now stuck in the down position. Coming home from work driving the speed limit on the highway today I was rolling down my window and then heard a crack and then it wouldn't roll back up. Well I knew what the sound ment because I have had to change all the other three windows in my truck and heard the same noise when it happened to them. Total amount of money spent on just the first three window regulators and labor $1,062.54, that's not counting what I'm about to spend the forth time on my drivers side window. I was told and on the receipts it has replaced with new parts, did not see the old parts that were taken out though. This is getting old, is there anybody out there that can stop this. I know that I'm not the only one that this is effecting.

Twice the passengers side windows have just fallen, once in the parking lot during work, the other while traveling to work on the road. This is 2005 F150 vehicle, both windows are seldom used. My mother has a 2004 F150 vehicle, and both window in the front have fallen, both times she was on the interstate, which scared her both times, she is seventy three.

I have a 2005 Ford F150 with 45K miles on it I was driving down the road at about 30mph and all of the sudden the driver side window fell down all by itself no warning nothing. Scared the heck out of my wife. It appears it is a common issue and that Ford is aware they have the issue but refuse to do anything. It cost $450 to replace the regulator and judging by what I read this will not be the last time I have to do this if I keep the car. I have had too many issues for so few miles.

A few months later the passenger side window exhibited the exact same failure. The regulator was replaced on the passenger side by the dealer. The contact has not contacted Ford Motor Company. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was not available. The current mileage was approximately 75,000.

I am the owner of a 2005 Ford F150 supercab truck. I recently had another power window regulator fail on my vehicle. This failure occurred while I was driving down the road at a speed of about 35mph. This is the second regulator that has been replaced on this vehicle (the first one occurred three years ago). When this failure occurs the window just drops completely down into the door with no warning. When this failure occurs while you are driving it causes a very big distraction to the driver and passengers of the vehicle. Three years ago, when the first regulator failed, I had my vehicle parked (luckily at home) and I noticed that the window was in the down position. I recalled rolling the window up when I parked my vehicle, so I got in it to put the window in the up position. After turning the ignition on and pressing the up button, nothing happened. This time it was the drivers window. I am very fortunate to have not parked my vehicle in a public place when this failure occurred because it would have given anyone access to the inside of my vehicle. Although the failures did not result in any injury or losses, this is a very important issue concerning vehicle safety. I conducted some internet research on this issue and it appears that other 2004-2005 F150 owners have had the same issue with these window regulators. I am very concerned that the remaining 2 windows will fail over time. On both occasions, I took my vehicle to the local dealership to have a replacement window regulator installed. One of the regulator replacements was covered under warranty and the most recent one was not. This repair cost was $220. I feel that this is an issue that regular maintenance nor normal vehicle care could prevent. This is a definite equipment flaw that the owner has no warning of when it will occur. Therefore I feel that these regulators should be investigated because it poses a safety issue to the vehicle owner as well as other drivers on the roadway.

I was driving on the interstate and heard a loud pop and thought someone had shot at my car, it scared me and with my response swerved and I almost had an accident. Later as it turned out it was a common window regulator defect on Ford trucks and SUV's. they have built it with the purpose of failure and a high cost to the owner to repair this and no guarantee that it will work and not fail again soon. This should be a recall to all those Ford's with this failure. It is going to cost just under $400 to fix with no guarantee. It is indeed a safety issue when it happens while driving at high speeds or anywhere around any other cars, not to mention the window dropping, who knows it could shatter and cause a severe injury.
