  • 70,000 miles
I was driving threw town last June & all the sudden my check engine light came on & truck started running really rough & acted like it was starving for gas or fire so I took my truck to a parts store & had code read it showed a miss fire @ #6 cylinder / spark plug it cost me almost $1,200 to get it fixed. That was for all 8 plugs & coils for really needs to fix there design flaw on the 4.6L & 5.4L engine there is no reason a vehicle should cost that much just to change plugs just cause they don't want to fix there mess up to make it more affordable to the public.they say till the NHTSA issues a recall they will ignore the problem with the spark plugs & all the issues that come with them since they changed the motors designs. Thank you conserned consumer/firefighter [xxx] please take some action in this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Had a bad miss at highway speeds and limped home 15 miles. Replaced spark plugs and in the process broke two in the head. One did not break completely off (#4) and I needed to borrow a prototype tool from lisle tool Corp. Removed and replaced plugs following Ford procedures. Truck still had a miss. Replaced all eight coil packs which fixed the problem. Total cost$380. Truck down for 6 days awaiting tools and parts. Developed a vibration at highway speeds. Original tires(pirelli) were separating. Replaced tires(976.00), much better. Still have slight vibration at highway speeeds. Found left front hub bearing seeping grease and feels stiff. Awaiting parts to do repairs. (98.00) had a transmission shudder at light load in overdrive. Flushed transmission with bg products and flush machine. Added new trans fluid and conditioner. Transmission now shudders at all speeds when hot. Will order new filter and replace. Will add friction modifier and try again. Have to tow another vehicle this weekend and am afraid to do so. I am completely blown away that these problems could happen to any vehicle starting at 48,000 miles. All maintenance has been performed with top of the line products. Have been a Ford owner all my life and am completely dis-satisfied with the performance of this supposed number one selling truck. The sticker prices of these trucks should be a bunch less since cheaply produced chinese parts are so prevalently used. Not happy.

First why was" this vehicle included in the recall of bad throttle body I had the same problem as people are having with the Ford escape. I reported this back in 2012 when it was brought to the attention of the NHTSA I did not receive a response then but there are the same problems with the F-150 I had to replace mine @ a cost of over $600 and also damaged my alternator I was driving in traffic when it went in limp home mode showing a wrench symbol with lost of power and acceleration, I almost was hit by several vehicles as there was know where to pull over time. This is the same throttle body that comes on the Ford escape and it should be included with that group of recalls.

My 2007 Ford F-150 XLT 5.4 Triton was brought in for a routine tune up. When removal of the spark plugs 6 of 8 broke off. The mechanics attempted to remove the broken parts but could not. Now I am told I need to have the heads of the motor taken off and or have the engine replaced. This motor has run fine except for mis fireing spark plugs. I talked to other mechanics and auto part stores, prior to having this work done and they all warned me that this may happen, the breaking off of the spark plugs. I can`T afford to have this major work done at this time, and I feel that Ford has a bad product in it`S spark plug. Has there been any other complaints in this matter [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My truck accelerated on it's own while hitting the brake, I thought it might be my new mat so I removed it and it happened again. Not sure if I hit the gas pedal at the same time as the brake? I have never had this happen in all the years I drove Ford or GMC. Your form would be easier if you could just type in info and boy I wish these programs would get rid of the state box and let us type it in.

Three times since January 1, 2013 my Ford F-150 has accelerated on its own. Each time I was traveling less than 10 mph. Each time I had to put the truck into neutral and turn it off. The RPM's went over 3000 and my foot was not on the gas. Each time I checked to make sure there was nothing hung up in the gas peddle like carpet or trash. I took my truck to Ford country in las vegas and the service writer said I was dreaming that something like that could not happen. I assure you that my truck accelerated on its own three times at speeds less than 10 mph. I would like to find out if this is a reported problem with a fix. I do not feel safe driving my truck in town and especially in traffic where it might accelerate on its own and hurt someone. Any information that you need I can provide. I am willing to let you put any type of monitoring device on my truck so if or when it happens again you can see the results. Thank you for your time.

The crankshaft thrust bearing malfunctioned. I was able to get the truck off of the highway and back to my house. I had to have it towed to a Ford dealer. I have been doing alot of online research and found that this is a problem with alot of the F150's from 2005-2008. Mainly on the Triton 5.4L V8. I have contacted Ford but they say that they do not know of any problems. My truck was not under a warranty and Ford will not cover it. I am trying to get them to recall these engines to help the many others out there that have had to shell out $6000+ dollars as I have.

Hauling my daughter's basketball team back from king city, ca on us 101 northbound. Accelerated to merge on to highway, engine coughed, lurched, coughed, lurched, shook and finally proceeded. Took it to the shop and was told that a bad spark plug had fried my coil. That explained some of it. I was told by the service manager to bring it back before 100K miles, and I did. Now I am told that all the remaining spark plugs are effected, but they don't see any issue when they run diagnostics. Therefore, it cannot be repaired. Great. Just made the last payment on it too.

I have a 2007 F150 at the time of incident my family and I were in ct and were doing approximately 45 mph on a highway. The truck began to buck violently and dropped to 20mph with out a warning or lights. Then it started to run normal then started the same thing all over 20 minutes later. Come to find out that the spark plugs needs to be replaced. No garage will touch it due to Ford poor design Ford says it will cost approximately five hundred dollars plus due to the poor design the spark plugs can brake in the cylinder heads. They said it can be $50 per broken spark plug and possibly more if the plug cannot remove broken part. I should only pay for plugs not Ford design floor which need to be recalled.
