Used rear defrost (approximately 63 degrees outside) drove approximately 5 miles and passenger rear window shattered. Was sitting at a complete stop at a light. Sounded like a gun-shot. Researched the issue to find many other 2010 F150 owners with the same problem who were told it was a short in the rear defrost electrical. Ford will not cover repairs.

My seat heater stopped working several months ago, I went to replace it today and found that the heat element had melted and turned black the seat cushion in the area of where it melted, I don't believe that there was actual fire but had the power not shut off I am sure that the seat would have caught fire.

Parked truck in a lot. Left the truck and was fine at the time. I have heard of the rear windows shattering before so I'm always looking at it. Get back to the truck and the window was shattered. Checked security footage at the lot and could not see anyone throw or hit it with anything. Not near a main road either. Rear driver side window with defroster (broken side), motorized center window.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the tire pressure warning light illuminated. In addition, all of the electronics failed to operate in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, who stated that a high radio frequency had caused the electronics to fail in the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

When I try to start my car all of the warning lights and theft lights flash and the vehicle won't turn. If I leave it for some time and come back and try it, sometimes it will work. When it does work it's only briefly, the A/C goes out but still blows air, the instruments including speedometer go to zero even when I'm on the highway. This is a huge issue due to safety and reliability. I've taken it to a Ford dealership, they held it for two weeks and gave it back to me saying it was working fine. On my way back from the dealership, the same thing happened again. This has been a huge hassle and I've had to miss work because of it.

Turned defrost on rear power slider window and heard a loud explosion like a gunshot and the rear window on passenger side shattered. There are small pieces of glass in the bed of the truck and on the back seat. Temperatures were in the mild 30S at the time. This was a problem with the defrost causing the glass to shatter. Ford will not cover repairs or replacement of the glass. Mileage less than 30,000 miles. Truck also covered under extended maintenance plan but Ford will not cover it there either.

Have been having electrical issues including failing backup camera at night and tail lights not working (dangerous at night) as well as fuses blowing. Dealer could not duplicate but dealer states there is corrosion in the fuse panel because water entered the vehicle. There are several instances where Ford is aware of this issue where water is entering the vehicle on the dot.gov and other websites. They are refusing to do anything about it. Please do something about this, Ford knows there is an issue and there is no reason for them do get away with issues that may cause fatal car accidents including tail lights going out while driving.

On 3-12-14 I left work and headed home, approximately 5 minutes after leaving, I hear a very loud bang toward the rear of my truck, similar to a gunshot. When I got home, 10 minutes later to inspect, I noticed that the entire back passenger section of my window had shattered. I assumed something must have hit my truck, but I didn't understand how that would happen seeing as I was moving forward. If something would have flown up from another vehicle, it would have hit the back of my truck which highly unlikely. One week later I had the window replaced and the technician informed me that this was the 37th rear window he has replaced since December of 2013 and that it is a electrical issue that is causing the windows to literally explode. After receiving this information I did some research online and came across F150forum.com where I learned that this problem is happening over and over again going back to as far as 2011. I contacted Ford and filed a complaint ( case# 4161127-C1J5T0). I also contacted "crystal' from Ford's social media dept who has been monitoring the forum. She was requesting VIN numbers of vehicles this has happened to. She ultimately told me that there was nothing she can do because I had already had a case number with Ford customer service. I have had to pay $500 to cover the replacement.

I was driving home 3/29/2014. It was late afternoon, raining and about 45F. I had my rear defroster on for about 10 mins when the rear window exploded. It sounded like a gunshot so the first thing I did was test my brakes to make sure I could stop, then scanned the dash and no weird lights. It was when I looked in my rear view seconds later that I saw my passenger side rear window (sliding rear window with 3 sections) was shattered.

The rear window defroster on my power sliding rear window caused the driver side rear window glass to shatter while the vehicle was warming up in my driveway. The defroster had been in operation only 2-3 minutes when a loud bang was heard while I was re-entering the vehicle. I looked for impact damage to the roof, tailgate, etc but nothing seemed unusual, and there were no other people in the vicinity. The damage was not readily visible until I returned to the vehicle in the afternoon, got in, and looked in the rear view mirror time: 4:30am weather conditions: 28 degrees, clear sky, light frost on windows, no precipitation in prior 48 hours. An auto glass installer and a body shop owner both confirmed no sign of any impact damage. A brief internet search of Ford owner's forums revealed multiple owners experiencing shattered glass, melted window frames etc. When using the rear defroster on 2010 F-150 trucks with power sliding rear window. At lease four of these incidents have taken place in the past three months. (Jan-Mar. 2014).

I allowed my car to warm up. It was approximately 28 degrees outside. I began to drive my car. I engaged the rear defroster. Within 60 seconds I heard a loud bang, similar to a gun shot. Along with a smell of smoke. Then glass went flying towards the front of vehicle. After looking around I noticed the rear window was shattered. The rear window consists of three pieces of glass. Only the passenger (far right side) was shattered. Luckily, there was no people sitting in the back seat at the time. Took it to the Ford dealership, they said the Ford company has not addressed the issue. I was told numerous F150's have had similar problems. Ford refuses to cover repairs.

I was driving on a major state route on my way to work and turned on the rear defroster. I smelled something hot and then a loud popping noise. When I looked in my rear view mirror the rear window had shattered. Contacted Ford dealer and they said the vehicle was out of warranty 3 months and there was nothing they could do. I asked the dealership to contact Ford to see if there were similar instances of this happening. They did not but gave me the phone number for the Ford complaint office. I researched online and it seems that this has happened multiple times with this model of truck. Because the highway I drive is a major truck route it could have been very dangerous not being able to see out the rear window.

At about 4:50 am on 2/4/14 I was driving about 20 mph in 9 degree F temperatures with the rear defrost on for about 8 min. I heard a loud pop like someone threw a rock at my truck. As I was backing into a garage to investigate the mysterious noise, I noticed the passenger side rear glass panel was completely shattered. After researching the issue I can safely say this is a manufacturing defect with the glass and rear defrost.

My F150 has a three piece rear window with the defogger.while driving I turned on the defogger. Minutes later the passenger side rear stationary window shattered. After researching the internet I found out this is a common problem with this model. I feel Ford needs to address this problem by recalling and repairing the electrical system that is causing this failure. Excessive heat could cause a fire. The burden should not be on the insurance company and individual owner to bear the cost.

2010 Ford F150 supercrew power rear sliding window pass side only, cracking upon turning on rear defroster after a few minutes. Temperature 15 degrees within a few minutes of leaving a store parking lot and now driving down the highway a few miles I heard a loud bang ( many others posted say it sounds like a 22 caliber shot gun ) I looked around and saw the rear pass sliding window shattered but still intact. This is the first time I had to use the rear defroster as it was snowing sleeting outside. I have had this truck for 2 years and never had to use it. Now when I get home I decide to google search this and couldn't believe how common this is. Turn out there is a problem and Ford will not make it right unless you are very lucky and persistent. The heating element gets so hot that it shatters the glass. They claim glass is not covered. Its not the glass, its the heating element. I called 3 local dealers today and 2 of the three said they knew about this but Ford wont offer compensation. I was told to call the insurance and file a claim. I also called Ford customer care center and told them what I had learned and it was all over the Ford forums and the internet. Same scenario for all of us. I am just glad that I didn't have a child in the rear pass seat and had this happen or had the glass shatter all over the child. So now I have to pay a $500 deductible and file a claim with my insurance carrier. Worse yet I was told today that no windows were available for 10 days. Hmm makes you wonder why?

Started the car in the morning. Turned on the rear defroster. Began to shovel the driveway and heard a loud pop from the truck. Didn't notice anything until I got in to back up and saw the rear passenger window gad shattered. Ford dealer was very familiar with the "window" problem, as they described it. Said that because the vehicle was past 50,000 miles that it was no longer under warranty. I rarely use the rear defroster. The dealer said I should take it to the local glass specialist to have it replaced. They never mentioned that it may be an electrical problem. It seems to me that a known repetitive problem should be paid for by Ford. If it is an electrical problem, I may be replacing my window more than once.

On a 40 degree morning, I turned the rear defroster on to clear windows and mirrors. As I was driving my son to daycare I heard a large pop then smelled burning rubber. Looked and seen the right rear glass shattered and was it shorted out on the heating element. Took the truck to Ford and since it is off warranty they told me there S nothing they can do besides charging me $1200 for replacement, very disappointed with Ford. If I wanted electrical troubles I would have bought a 1990's Dodge! thanks for nothing.
